Episode 20
Daisy Yawson
“Did you hear that?”
That question was for Ibrahim who had a worried and puzzled expression on his face.
“What did you say?” Mimi finally got up from the bed. Ibrahim picked up their child, who was already trying to get out of his father’s grasp but failed.
After entering Enoch’s room, he gave him some toys to play with, and since he was already tired, he expected him to rest a little before feeding him. The last thing he wanted was for Enoch to witness or get affected by whatever he thought was going to happen at such a young age. He came out shortly afterwards.
“Mimi…Mimi.”
“No, I think there’s something she’s been wanting to tell me and I need to hear it,”. Mimi told him.
Their age difference wasn’t much with Mimi being younger however, the level of confidence and power with which she spoke made her hesitant and shudder a bit.
“Mimi, just let it go.”
She avoided his touch but had heard him and just as she was about to sit back down Muni blurted out whatever she had on her chest for that long a time.
“People who abandon their kids in the name of schooling are not meant to be parents.”
Thud!
The slap resonated across the room with Ibrahim looking on in terror.
Mimi had collapsed into his arms with tears running down her face.
“You know nothing about me or my family. Who gave you the right to say those words to me?” Muni’s words had left her stunned and without consideration, she’d hit her on her cheek but she was hurting more from those words as she’d been guilty ever since she left her child to further her education.
Very few people knew about it and as Kadi (Ibrahim’s mum) predicted, it would be a problem for Mimi if people found out.
Muni stood there with her hands on her cheek.
“Leave us,” Ibrahim sternly commanded and she squirmed away.
“Hey, hey. Listen to me.”
“She has no right, Ibrahim. No right to say that to me.”
“I know and that’s why I want you to ignore everything she said. That boy in there will have his mother to spoil him and not just his dad because his mum went to school and one day, will be grateful to you.” He kissed her on her hands.
“You’re a strong lady, Mimi, and I don’t want you hurting. Not even a bit. Eat your food and I will get Enoch from his room to feed him.”
The day ended with Muni locking herself up in the room and with Ibrahim, Enoch and Mimi visiting the doctor who confirmed her pregnancy.
Ibrahim still called home even after Mimi tried convincing him to leave her for the first trimester of her pregnancy.
He wanted to ask his mum for a nurse. A nurse to assist Mimi with her diet, hospital, medicine and welfare. He wanted to fly her to the States but Kadi was sceptical and suggested another solution instead.
“The woman who took care of me when I was pregnant with you…she left for abroad shortly after I had you and till now she’s grateful for what I had done for her and her family…I’m sure she will assist Mimi with hers. I only need to make some calls first.”
“That’s fine. Get back to me after speaking to her,” he said before hanging up. He never thought he would ask his mum for help as he rarely did but the situation was too much for him to handle on his own. He could not stay in the States and work and Enoch needed to go back to school.
“Did you speak to your mum?” Mimi in her night rob came out from Enoch’s room.
“Yes…she will assist us.”
Mimi sighed briefly in relief taking her seat on the bed but Ibrahim had other plans.
His eyes feasted on her chest and down below.
“Don’t tell me Mr Ibrahim is attracted to pregnant women,” Mimi teased.
“You mean, pregnant wife.”
Her giggling filled the room as Ibrahim pinned her down with his head between her thighs. Nibbling on her skin and closer to her opening making her gasp in pleasure as the sensation filled her whole body. After a minute of plundering his tongue in her wet walls, she screamed and her thighs spasmed with pleasure.
Although he didn’t cum, his member leaked with a precum.
He didn’t stop there, his hands roamed in between her legs, rubbing her clits to keep her wetter. She took off the robe and got ready for him.
He positioned himself in between her opening teasing her with kisses on her lips and in one swift movement, plunged into her. He felt himself growing inside her warm walls and kept thrusting while the sensation built with each thrust. She was vulnerable under him and it made him aroused the more. Her facial expression, her moans urged him to take her, over and over again.

It was 9:00 and the two were already up. Ibrahim was busily packing their stuff into two large suitcases. One for him and the other for Enoch.
Last night had left Mimi wanting more but she could only look at the back of the man who was about to leave her soon.
“You look depressed.”
“How do you know. You can’t see my face.”
“But I feel your eyes on me.”
Her face flusters with embarrassment.
“Miss Boakye will be here any minute can’t have her looking at you in your boxers.”
“Don’t be silly. That lady is as old as my mother.”
“Still it would be weird.”
“Lady, don’t you have school today?”
That morning had been worse than yesterday. Throwing up all over the sink and sinking down on the tile feeling frustrated.
“I might throw up in school and the thought of it doesn’t sit well with me.”
“I can leave everything and follow you to school if you want.”
Nervousness poked at her stomach as he said that.
“I don’t have a problem with that only I don’t want to be selfish.”
“You can be selfish all you want that’s my child too,” the seriousness in his voice falsely depicted arrogance and he immediately apologized drawing closer to Mimi.
“I don’t want to lose out on this pregnancy like I did with our first. I genuinely want to stay and take care of you…”
“But you can’t. Not when you have work? Not when my baby has school.”
“We can work things out.”
“Shush…now is not the time,” she said as she planted a gentle kiss on his cheek.
“You don’t have to worry about me.”
Their relationship had improved ever since they visited. Enoch had started calling her mama without being told to and now they were leaving.
She was the most upset out of both of them but if she should relent, then he really won’t leave.
“Regardless, I will still worry.”
In exactly 2 hours, they were packed and ready to leave. Miss Boakye was already there in the living room and speaking to them. Mimi found her kind and as Kadi had said, she was very eager to assist Mimi with her pregnancy and being a nurse made it worthwhile.
“You have to call your mama and speak to her, okay?” The hormones were already kicking in. And she felt like shedding tears.
“You should call as well.”
“Aunty, please take care of my wife for me.”
“You have nothing to worry about,” the woman said to put him at ease. She even had a smile on her almost wrinkled face.
They walked out of the door together with Muna who still hadn’t said anything and also hadn’t been talked to. Ibrahim who didn’t entertain house helps decided not to mention the whole issue and he was sure not to mention it to his mother. After the disrespectful encounter with Mimi, he had decided to fire her after they get back. Something he had already discussed with Mimi that night after making love.
“Take care.”
They entered into the cab straight to the airport.
She mouthed an ‘I love you’ before leaving.
She had to pack and move out of the hotel back to her hostel, which served as an apartment more than a hostel. And it was a 15-minute drive from the place. It was quite furnished and because she had no pets, it was easier to abandon the place for a while.
“Aunty, I can do the packing… you should rest for now.”
The lady beside her smiled as she had been dealing with this as a nurse and a caretaker for so long.
“I’m not going to pack with you.”
I will prepare something while you do your packing.” With that being settled, they two go back into the room.

Enoch slept on Ibrahim’s chest throughout the flight.
“Son!”
He opened his eyes and rubbed them. Next, he looked at his father and then back at his tiny legs. He had gotten used to his dad calling him son and out of the large family, the only person who cared less about spoiling him was Ibrahim. He loved his son and that’s one of the main reasons why he wanted to do right by him.
They exited the plane after making sure he was okay. He’d forgotten about the woman who was following him into the black sedan which arrived moments later.
After strapping Enoch in the car seat, he joined the driver at the front and Muna sat at the back with Enoch, who was already dozing off.
“He’s tired,” the driver expressed his concern.
“I think he hates flights. The noise and everything.”
“But he will be fine after a few travels.”
Taking the bottle of water the driver offered to him, he gulped it down in one go.
Soon they were home but it wasn’t quiet as he’d expected. He’s wanted to put Enoch to bed and take a nap himself but the loud noise coming from the house turned him off.
As they entered, they were met with loud conversation.
“Put him in his bed,” he said and put Enoch in Muna’s arms.
He frowned.
“Dapala (son),” an elderly man in his late 50s called out to him and his frown deepened.
He wasn’t alone. A lady he recognized sat beside an aunty from his father’s side.
“I don’t recall inviting you to my house.”
Shaking his head from disappointment, his father responded.
“I’m your father, and it’s only proper that I visit you. How is your wife?”
That sinister look he always wore made him uneasy. His family was the last thing he wanted around his father right now because he was a selfish, narcissistic man.
“Fine fine…I know I haven’t been around a lot…”
“I’m too old for that kind of conversation…what’s your purpose for visiting me in my home?”
He sighed.
“You see this lady right here,” pointing to a dark-skinned woman who had yet to stop staring at Ibrahim.
“She’s the lady you met years ago and she’s come to take her place as your second wife.”
He said with finality.
“Jamal might even be surprised with a sibling, you know?” the old man chuckled.
His tongue got dry and his grip on his keys tightened almost drawing out blood.
“Get out. I don’t want to hear things like this from you…The last thing I want to do is betray Mimi right now.”
“What do you mean?”
“Please just let yourselves out.”
His aunty was rather composed and quiet, obviously not in support of it.
“You are a man. What happens if you stay long without sex or a woman? You think I don’t think about this, huh, Ibrahim?”
“That girl is schooling and by the time she’s done,
I doubt she’s going to stick around for long.”
Actually this has been Ibrahim’s fear all along so mentioning it hit the nail right on the head.
Still, he had been smart about it and started doing his master’s online. It wasn’t as easy as he’d imagined but just to keep her around his side, he’d resorted to that and now, he’s halfway through to finishing. He decided to take a master’s in real estate since it’s what he did at Uni and advancing it would do him good. Telling Mimi now was not an option. He’s planning to surprise her on his graduation day.
“That’s not your problem. Be a parent for once in your life and leave me alone.”
Before he could excuse himself, the woman latched herself unto him, not caring about the tension it resulted in.
“I promise you if you don’t let go of me, you will regret it!” Seeing the dark angry look in his eyes, she let go of his arms, allowing him to walk away.
