The Gapo: Cobby Grant: Episode 4
Yoofi was in a pensive mood. He was thinking about the rather fantastic story of the two sisters and was deeply touched. He had questioned them, especially Rose extensively about what they had told him and about what had been happening and none of them could tell him the reason someone had found it necessary to wreak havoc of such magnitude on them.
His training as a lawyer had come into play and he had cross-examined her extensively until she told him that it could be either a case of mistaken identity or because they feared what the article could expose. Apart from that, she had no idea who could be behind it.
”I believe a criminal organization could be behind this,” he said quietly.
”I only write about entertaining stuff. I actually looked for you so that I could ask for your forgiveness for wrongfully accusing you of being behind it and secondly, to thank you for saving me that day,” Rose said in a rush, feeling ashamed of herself.
”Rose, Pam, I am, sorry for what you girls have gone through. Where are you going to pass the night? I can offer you a place, you know,” he offered, looking at them.
”We are currently lodging in a hotel,” Rose said and smiled ”But we’ll look around for a more permanent option later.”
”What happened to your car? Was it burnt too?” he asked, trying to find a way he could offer a helping hand.
”The car is fine. It’s just that I am feeling too shaky to drive so we took a taxi,” she replied and almost jumped out of her skin when a message popped on her phone.
They were talking in the comfortable study of the birthday man which Ursula had graciously made available to them.
Yoofi was silent, waiting for her to read the message she seemed unwilling to see what it was.
Just then he also received an SMS of his own.
”Don’t poke your nose into anything that doesn’t belong to you otherwise fire would burn you,” it read.
He looked at her gravely and asked her to read hers too.
She read and almost collapsed with fright.
He gently pried the phone from her palm and read it.
”You were lucky. Next time you’ll be like barbecued meat. I promise you.”
He assured them of his continuous assistance and left to seek out Ursula to tell her they were leaving.
”I’ll see you later then,” Ursula said.
Kofi Aboabo who was sitting in a corner going through his phone stood up when he saw that Yoofi and the girls were about to leave.
”Where do you think you are going? Abi you are a bum bum touching specialist. Tonight you’ll apply your expertise,” Ursula said to him.
Pam, who strangely had remained silent asked whether they were leaving Kofi Aboabo behind and Yoofi replied to her that he was going to help his cousin with some things.
As for Kofi, he knew what he was in for. He had been chosen for the doctor’s bed and he as a hot-blooded male was ever ready to jump onto it, feet first.
Yoofi drove the girls to the hotel and left after promising to see them the next day for any update on the issue at hand. They were so afraid that they implored him to accompany them into the hotel room to see whether it was safe. They seemed not to have anything except the dresses on their backs.
Apart from anything else, that alone infuriated him so much that he swore silently to himself to smoke out those behind their perils and deal with them.
They quickly locked the door and it was only then that Rose began to shiver.
It was both from exhaustion and fear. Fear of the unknown. She clenched her fists tightly and gritted her teeth, but still, she continued to tremble.
Pam, the one who normally sought comfort from her went to her side and held her close.
”Don’t worry Jackie Chan would make everything right and would protect us, you’ll see,” she said, rocking her elder sister whose head she had placed on her bosom.
Rose only nodded, her eyes blinded by silky tears.

Yoofi Baiden was a young man but the depth of astuteness and self-assurance he carried with him was astounding. He, with a pen and a sheet of paper, sat by a table and pondered on the dilemma of the duo.
Even though Rose had stated vehemently that she wasn’t writing anything that could even be remotely regarded as dangerous, Yoofi wrote down what she said she was working on.
He also pondered on the number of threats and occurrences that preceded the burning of their house.
He got angrier and angrier as he thought of the situation and wondered how anyone could possibly find them threatening enough to unleash such mayhem on them.
”How can anyone really look at Rose, see how frail she looks and think that the only way she can be stopped is to kill her,” he asked himself for the umpteenth time, his voice echoing in the room with the dawn breeze his only witness.
He had an early bath and went about preparing breakfast when he received a call from an unsaved number.
”Hello, Jackie Chan,” the tiny voice of Pam greeted him. He smiled when he recognized her voice.
”Hello, Pam. I hope you rested well. How’s Rose?” he enquired of her. His rich baritone got her childishly excited.
”I am waiting for her to wake up. She tossed and turned for most of the night.”
”I am not sure the hotel offers meals but don’t worry. I am coming with breakfast within an hour. What are your preferences?” he asked.
”Tom brown in any form would do,” she said and hid her face in her palms as if he could see her.
He at that very moment felt like having Tom Brown too.
”Tom Brown it is then,” he said and hung up.
No sooner had the call ended did Kofi Aboabo’s call come in.
”Y.B.”
”Good morning Kofi. How are you doing?”
”I am very fine,” Kofi said, memories of his romantic encounter with Dr Ursula flooding his mind.
”Look Kofi, I am on my way to an important meeting. I will talk to you later,” Yoofi said and quickly hung up.
He had a suspicion that Kofi was going to talk about his night with his cousin.
”Stupid idiot,” he hissed under his breath and whistled a lullaby as he went on with the cooking.
Kofi tossed the phone on the bed feeling quite cheated for not being able to share his juicy story. His mind was still on last night. When everyone had left, Ursula served him with brandy and left to check on her father who had earlier left the party due to fatigue. She returned later, freshly showered and wearing a sheer nightie.
”Now Kofi Aboabo; what did you have in mind when you felt my backside in my own consulting room,” Ursula said from behind him. He swirled around and came face to face with a sexily clad Ursula. His breath caught in his throat at the sight of the almost transparent nightie she had on which revealed a patch of dark hair in her crotch area. The glass had dropped from his now nerveless fingers as he stood rooted to the spot. She floated towards him, her serenely beautiful face imbued with desire. She had then gotten to him and kissed him so fiercely that his only option was to reciprocate.
They kissed each other as if they wanted to swallow each other.
”I am dead today,” Kofi had managed to whisper amid gasps ‘suddenly, I am afraid of you.”
”So you should, you naughty boy” she had said before dragging him into her bedroom in a way that suggested that she was taking him into the lion’s den. He left her side three hours later, quite pleased with himself.
And at dawn on the other end of town, a man most people in the underworld knew as The Capo was relaxing in the bedroom. The bed was a waterbed that rotates at the touch of a button. At that moment it was stationary and he had a glass of wine in his hand and there was a skimpily-clad girl who was attending to his every comfort, his every desire was being satisfied. Even the perverse sex styles were part. There was a soft knock on the door and he asked the one to enter.
Three men entered and stood facing him with their hands behind their backs. They knew very well in their hearts that they were just a mere breath away from death if he so wished. Even when his fingers were fondling the elongated nipples of the slim girl beside him, his piercing eyes were on the three men. He scowled darkly and screamed at them.
”I asked for her to be snuffed off. What happened.”
”Capo, we established that she was indoors. We even saw her sister join her so when we went back with the petrol and the gas man we thought she was still indoors so we did our thing,” one of them explained.
”Stupid idiots. Fools. Mbɛlɛfo. Did you check to see whether their car was still at the carport?” he asked growling at them and pulled hard on the girl’s nipples causing her to cry out in pain.
”Shut up, you miserable cunt,” he turned on the girl and screamed.
”Now listen, you miserable mistakes of what men should be, if I find out that she’s alive in the next one week, none of you men would be alive the next day,” he screamed and drove them out and threw the glass full of wine at their retreating backs.
Fuming, he cursed and cursed Rose long after the men had left.
He knew that there was a need for him to be extra careful. The new twist in the whole drama needed to be handled with finesse. Now that it was confirmed that they were having help, there was the need to thread cautiously but even the ‘Dada ba’ who was poking his nose where it did not belong could not stop him.
”Stupid good-for-nothing spoiled brat who has never written an application letter before in his life. He’ll find out that all his wealth can never save him,” he said quietly as he lay in bed quite exhausted but satisfied from the perversions.

Yoofi, on impulse, decided to eat with the girls so he packed the meal and drove to the hotel and invited them to have it with him.
Pam needed no second invitation. As for Rose the ever-cautious one, she had to be cajoled and forced before she relented and joined them even though she was hungry and seriously salivating.
She surveyed the nicely done Tom Brown, the well-fried eggs, the sliced and toasted brown bread, the bunch of ripe bananas and the mug of pure honey and the cute jugs and plates and bowls he had brought with him and her resistance broke.
She pretended to take a bite against her will, but the moment she took that first bite, she was a goner. She smiled sheepishly when she saw rather belatedly that both Yoofi and Pam had paused to watch her eat.
”Eeiii, madam ‘as if as if’. You won’t eat mpo nie.” Pam said to her and Yoofi joined in on the ensuing laughter.
They really had a lively time at breakfast and Yoofi even insisted on being part of the utensils cleaning team.
”I am sure you have no lectures today being a Saturday,” he said with his eyes on Pam to which she nodded in the affirmative.
”Good. I have decided to be part of the team. There are some ground rules we must first establish. Three of us are going to form a WhatsApp group on which we will inform the members of our whereabouts, our suspicions and anything that could help keep us safe and also help in finding those behind the attacks. There’s the need to keep our eyes open for anything out of the ordinary. The man could be dangerous and cunning and we should assume that he’s no fool. I believe that he believes Rose has stepped on his foot without knowing and the key to finding out why is to check your past and current stories. I suggest Rose send in her next episode for us to see the reaction. I’ll also help in the research of the article,” he paused and looked at her for any comments.
”I still have the pen drive which contains all my work. It’s always attached to my bunch of keys,” she said quietly she wasn’t really good at seeking help from other people but showed him the pen drive with the keys.
”That’s great news. I’ll get you a new laptop. In fact, I can confidently say without any shadow of a doubt that everything is going to be okay,” he said assuring them.
Pam suddenly got up and gave him a tight hug and she got so emotional that she ran into the kitchen to avoid breaking down in front of them.
”I have arranged for lunch to be brought to you here. I’ll be back at 4:00 pm to talk to you about something,” he told Rose who looked at him as if she was confused about the whole issue.
”Yoofi,” she called out softly to him and when he turned to face her, she ran into him holding him as if her life depended on it. He patted her gently on her back comfortingly and slowly extricated himself from her arms. It was difficult doing so because all he wanted to do was to plant a kiss on those succulent-like lips of hers.
