SPIRITS
THE WAILING ENTITY
EPISODE 1
Kofi smiled as he maneuvered his car in the inner lane of the two-lane highway, and his eyes fell on the creamy knees of his beautiful fiancée, Esi, who was smiling mischievously beside him.
She was wearing a short dress, and so it left a sizeable portion of her thighs exposed. She was indeed a beautiful woman, and her creamy thighs never failed to make him breathless.
Esi was so fair and exquisite, contrasting his dark complexion and tall elegance, and they drew attention wherever they went.
Kofi could not control himself, and he leaned over and slipped his right hand across her right knee and inched slowly up her inner thighs.
She glanced at him with an expression of inner amusement, and shy pleasure in the knowledge that he couldn’t keep his hands off her. She giggled and clamped her thighs shut as his hands sought to move higher.
As they laughed Esi looked up suddenly, and an expression of sudden horror filled her face.
“Fii, look out!” she shouted.
Kofi returned his attention to the road just as a taxi cab from the outer lane crossed suddenly into his lane viciously, forcing Kofi to gasp with sudden shock.
The cab was just in front of his Nissan Pathfinder, and there was no way Kofi could stop from ramming its back. He spun the wheel with a cry of horror and just managed to cut across the back of the taxi cab into the outer lane!
And just then a little girl stepped into the road in an attempt to cross!
The girl was in a school uniform with a backpack on her back, and when she saw Kofi’s car bearing down on her she stopped in her tracks with terror!
People around were screaming with fear and anxiety!
Esi covered her face with her hands as her own moans of horror emitted from her throat!
There was just no way to avoid hitting the little girl!
The cars behind Kofi were blaring their horns, and people were gesticulating wildly.
He swung the steering-wheel savagely to the right, and the car climbed the embankment and missed the girl by a hair’s breadth! Kofi, relieved that he had missed the girl, suddenly screamed when he saw that his car was headed straight at a concrete pillar, obviously a street light!
This time there was no avoiding it!
The car slammed into the concrete vertical light pole with a tearing, shearing metallic sound!
It ripped right through the brand new Nissan Pathfinder, deeply mashing up the front! Kofi and Esi were both screaming as the airbags exploded outward, cushioning the effects of their collision!
The terrible sounds were still echoing in their ears as they were pulled back into their seats by the seat-belts they were wearing.
Kofi saw that Esi was still screaming because her mouth was open, but he could not hear her in the shock he was feeling. He also saw that there was a gash on her forehead which was bleeding and dropping blood down her face in rivulets, turning her face into a pattern of blood, like a river with several tributaries.
Kofi knew he had to help her, and as he leaned backward the heavy, metallic topside of the street light suddenly dropped down, shattering the windscreen and caving in the bonnet of the car! Kofi and Esi were showered with a sprinkle of broken glass that opened up tiny cuts on their hands and faces!
Dazedly, Kofi knew that if he had not leaned back the curved arm of the metal would have smashed his head to pulp!
Kofi and Esi were screaming now with shock and panic as people raced toward the car!
And that was when Kofi’s eyes picked up something incredible!
There were flames under the bonnet of the car…licking upward with serene danger.
The car was on fire!
Kofi’s hands worked desperately at his seat-belt, tugging and pressing desperately, but the belt wouldn’t release! He reached over desperately to release Esi’s belt, but it was also stuck!
They were trapped inside a burning car!
They were surrounded by a lot of people, but when somebody saw the flames and shouted, many of the people hurriedly fled the scene! Two men were desperately trying to open the doors of the car, and some were tugging at the boot door, but they wouldn’t open!
The fire was now licking upward savagely, and Kofi was gagging on the fumes! He knew that if the fire should get to the fuel feed the car would explode, killing him and Esi instantly!
Already some of the onlookers were in tears!
Kofi began to pray and weep, and he noticed that thankfully, Esi had passed out with the sheer horror of the situation facing them.
Suddenly, a black Chevrolet Sedan swung up onto the embankment, and a man got out of the car.
In his desperate moment, Kofi could see clearly ahead of him, and he noticed that the man who had gotten out of the car was of medium height, and he was thickset. He was wearing black jeans and a black T-shirt that bulged at the chest and arms because of the man’s bulk.
He was wearing a baseball cap, and there was a dark stubble on his chin, as if he had not shaved for about a couple of days. Kofi saw that the man stood watching them for a moment, and then put a metallic flask to his lips and drank.
Kofi’s eyes opened wide with irrational anger at a man who would stand at a distance and leisurely drink alcohol whilst they were burning up!
Just then the whole bonnet of the car exploded and was ripped off as a huge ball of fire engulfed the engine of the car. Kofi was weeping and muttering incorrigibly now as his panic took over.
Dimly he saw their rescuers running away now, all of them afraid of the terrible fire. Kofi could only see fire and smoke now, and as he gasped frantically, unable to breathe, his side of the door flew open suddenly, and when he turned his head he saw the thickset man in the T-shirt and baseball cap standing there with an army knife in his hand.
The man slashed the restraining seat-belt and cut it off, and then he reached in for Kofi.
“Pl-plea-please!” Kofi said weakly, his face suffused with sweat from the heat, his tears running in torrents. “S-save h-her, pl-ple-please!”
The man dragged Kofi out of the car and put him down. Kofi flopped down on the street, unable to move a muscle. Some men around quickly came for him and carried him off as the strange man in black went round the burning car, almost leisurely, ripped open the door on the front passenger side, cut the seat-belt, and carried Esi out.
Again some men nearby rushed forward and carried Esi away to safety.
The thickset man looked into the car and noticed a laptop case in the back. He took it out and walked away from the car.
He saw that some people approaching the burning car with fire extinguishers taken from their own cars.
The thickset man pointed a finger at them.
“Don’t go near that car,” he said in a deep, lazy voice. “That car explodes in ten seconds.”
“What?” one of the men asked, but already the thickset man was walking toward his Chevrolet with Kofi’s laptop bag hanging by his side. He opened his back door and tossed the laptop bag inside, and just then Kofi’s car exploded with a great bang, lifting the car up a few meters into the air before settling it down again.
The great crowd screamed and people fled desperately in all directions.
Already Kofi and Esi had been put into some private cars and being rushed to the hospital. A terrible traffic had built up now. The thickset man closed the back door of his car and stood for a moment staring at something strange in Kofi’s car which he knew no one else but him saw.
It was a spirit!
It was the spirit of a tall, slender man with a bald head, and it was shimmering as if he were made of white smoke. He was standing inside the burning fire, glaring at the thickset man with horrible green eyes. He appeared to be terribly incensed, and had a sort of agitated fury around him.
Suddenly, the spirit opened his mouth and let out a chilling wail of wrath and agitation, its green eyes glaring at the thickset man with vengeful intensity.
“Yeah, bring it on, you bastard!” the thickset man said and turned away leisurely.
He entered his car, started up and pulled away.
He was not surprised when he smelt the awful stench of the spirit as it blasted into his car and settled in the backseat, still wailing in a furious high-pitched voice.
It reached forward time and again to clutch the neck of the thickset man and tear it up!
It tried time and again to tear up the man’s heart, and then it tried time and again to grab the steering-wheel and turn the car into a huge gutter running parallel to the street, but to no avail.
Finally, it put its awful face into the thickset man’s face and screamed shrilly in a furious manner, and then it blasted out of the car with a terrible wail.
The thickset man kept driving throughout the whole horrible time and didn’t even appear to see the spirit.
######
An hour later, he drove through the gates of a luxurious, private property.
The landscape was exquisite and stretched as far as the eye could see. There was a metal plate erected on a golden background at the entrance of the incredible street lined with bamboo-designed hedges.
YOU ARE NOW ENTERING PRIVATE PROPERTY
THIS ESTATE BELONGS TO LEDI PEDI
TRESPASSERS KEEP OFF.
He finally drove into a luxurious yard, got out and picked up Kofi’s laptop case from the back.
He entered the house and was met by a beautiful woman wearing a see-through lacy gown. She moved seductively towards him with a smile on her beautiful face.
“Ledi!” she whispered as she slipped her arms around him and kissed him long and deep. “What kept you darling? You kept me waiting for too long!”
Ledi Pedi slipped his thick arms around her and kissed her fiercely. He pushed the gown off her shoulder and run his hand across her full breasts and down her sleek thighs.
She moaned with pleasure as his right hand slipped between her thighs. She moulded herself into him, kissing him with unrestrained hunger. He slipped out of his clothes quickly, and he was aroused as he faced her.
She slipped completely out of her gown and, also naked, pushed him down into the incredibly-beautiful sofa, knelt, and slipped her lips over him.
Just as Ledi began to close his eyes to enjoy himself, he smelt a foul stench again, and that evil high-pitched wail filled his ears. He opened his eyes, turned his head, and saw the white, shimmering, green-eyed spirit of the tall, slender man sitting in the sofa opposite, looking at him with intense hatred.
Ledi Pedi sighed deeply and sat up.
The woman was trying to climb on top of him, and Ledi pushed her back gently.
“Go to the bedroom, love,” he whispered tenderly. “Will be with you in five minutes. Gotta attend to something.”
She smiled lustfully, and rubbed his erection rapidly.
“Don’t keep me waiting, darling,” she cooed seductively. “I’m all ready and dripping wet for you!”
She moved away, wriggling her sweet behind seductively.
Ledi stood up and moved toward the little bar at the back of the huge, luxurious living-room. He scooped ice into a decanter and poured bourbon on top.
He was taking a sip of his drink when the terrible, green-eyed spirit flew at him with a wail of fury, hands extended to clutch and pull out Ledi’s heart.
“Stop that bullshit, you foul-mouthed evil shit!” Ledi Pedi hissed angrily and threw his left hand savagely in a back-handed slap that smashed into the wailing spirit, flinging it back with savage strength across the room.
The spirit diffused into an opaque mess on the floor, and now its green eyes were staring at Ledi with great shock, anxiety and fear.
“You can see me?” it whispered in a raspy, evil voice.
“Yeah, you bet your ass I can see you, bastard!” Ledi hissed angrily and emptied his glass.
He pointed a finger at the terrible spirit on the floor.
“I saw how you pushed the taxi in front of that car, and I saw how you pushed the little girl into the car’s path! I saw you dragging the car into the light pole, and I saw you blocking the doors and locking the seat-belts so that no one could save those trapped in the car.”
He paused and walked menacingly toward the spirit.
“Now I don’t understand why you wanted to kill those two young ones, and I don’t give a fuck why you were doing it, but I’m going up to my bedroom to grab myself a little pussy, and if you dare show your ugly face again I’m going to mess you up big time!”
The spirit floated off the floor and hovered near the ceiling, looking down at Ledi Pedi with great fear and confused eyes!
“You can hit me, a spirit soul without a body, and yet I can’t touch you!” he hissed in its evil voice. “You drink and fornicate, and yet you have the gifts of the chosen…who are you? Who are youuuuuuu?”
“Fuck off!” Ledi Pedi said and began to walk rapidly toward the bedroom.
“They deserve to die!” the spirit suddenly wailed, and it began to cry pitifully. “You interrupted me! They deserve to die! I’m gonna kill them! Do you know them? Is that why you saved them?”
Ledi’s eyes were hard as he looked at the spirit.
“Listen, I don’t know those two from Jack!” he said carefully. “I just happened to be in the same traffic, and I saw you following them. I really didn’t give a shit!”
“Then why did you save them?” the spirit hissed with fury.
Ledi’s face became sad for a moment, and then he sighed dejectedly.
“Because you chose to burn them up in a car, you idiot!” he said finally. “My wife, son and daughter died in a burning car. If you had chosen to kill them in any other form I would’ve driven away.”
The furious spirit was wailing again and screaming shrilly.
In its agitation it was making a strange wind blow that suddenly moved objects around the room, shifting the heavy armchairs savagely.
“Hey!” Ledi Pedi screamed, turning round angrily. “Cut out that shit this instant!”
The door opened suddenly and the naked woman appeared.
She looked around the room at the sudden mess created, and her horror-struck eyes turned to Ledi.
“What’s going on, darling?” she whispered with great fear. “Who were you talking to?”
“Nothing, love,” he said with a forced smile. “Drank too much, I guess. Come, let’s go upstairs. I wanna do bad things to you!”
He lifted her up. He began kissing her and walking upstairs.
Ledi heard the spirit wailing pitifully in the living-room.
“I’m going to kill them, do you hear?” the spirit hissed through it wails. “Don’t you dare show your face again…otherwise I’ll kill you toooooo!”
It floated up behind Ledi, and then its fingers slashed downward savagely!
Ledi was carrying the woman, and so the spirit’s evil strike really slashed with horrible pain across his face this time round.
He moaned with pain as the evil spirit’s claws opened up savage cuts on his face that dripped blood immediately. Ledi lost his balance and fell down the stairs. The woman screamed as she fell, hitting her head on the staircase, and by the time they landed at the bottom of the stairs, the woman was unconscious!
The spirit was suspended upside down from the ceiling, glaring at Ledi with evil malice.
“That’s a warning!” it hissed dangerously. “Keep out of my way!”
It wailed intensely, causing some of the window panes to shatter, and then it blasted out of the room and was gone.
Ledi Pedi raised a hand and massaged his bleeding cheeks.
“You shouldn’t have done that, mammon!” he whispered dangerously.
