EPISODE 3
It is the next day.
Maa Adjoa is still in bed even though it is a quarter to eleven.
A loud knock comes on her door. She gets up grudgingly to open it after waiting a while hoping Faustie will go away but the knock kept coming.
She puts on her morning robe and secures it with the sash. And she does not bother about her looks, which is very unusual of her and walks straight to the door.
Maa Adjoa unlocks it slowly and opens the door.
Faustie is dressed in sexy jeans shorts that end just above her knee and a beautiful top that fits her colour and body perfectly.
“Good morning dearie,” Faustie says with a smile
“Come in and stop being so formal with me. I just want to sleep.” Maa Adjoa replies.
“I have a wedding at one in the afternoon and I was hoping a trip to the salon with me will help clear your head and lighten you up a bit,” Faustie says, trying not to sound like she is judging her friend.
“No, thank you. I’ll just stay here. Just go and have fun.”
“Are you going to go to work looking like that? Come with me, I’m sure a massage will do wonders for the stress you are going through.”
“Not today, please. I know you are trying to help but I’m really not in the mood. I have a collection of wigs; I’m sure I could fall on one if it becomes necessary. Thanks for being the best friend ever.”
Faustie is disappointed. Shewas sure she can convince her friend to get out for some fresh air.
She gets to her feet and walks to the switches for her friend’s outside lights and puts them off when she remembers they have still been on when she arrived.
Faustie tries to convince Maa Adjoa to come with her but she vehemently declines.
“What are your plans for today?” Faustie asks.
“Look, I know you are trying to help but I seriously want to sleep. I didn’t sleep much in the night but it’s not for the reasons you are thinking. I’m still shaken by the way things ended between Kwamena and me. I just have to take it a day at a time as you said. I’ll try my best. I have to find a way to deal with the emptiness I feel right now and I think sleeping will do just the trick.”
“If you say so, girlfriend. You know I’m just a call away anytime. Do take care of yourself.” Faustie says and hugs her friend.
She takes the chest containing the food she has brought for her friend to the kitchen and bids her goodbye after making her promise she was going to eat it right after she woke up.
Left alone, Maa Adjoa feels like crying. She fights so hard to stop the tears but they flow anyway.
She stays in the living area for a while and then leaves for the sanctuary of the bedroom.
Memories of her time with Kwamena floods her mind as she smells and feels his touch and caresses. Most of their happy times have been shared in that same bed she is sitting on right now, though the bed looks bigger than before.
She lies down and closes her eyes as her tears blinded her. She reaches for her phone and swipes it open. The smiling face of Kwamena stares her in the face. She had taken that picture during one of their happiest moments and has used it as her screen saver since.
She goes straight to Kwamena’s Facebook page and sees that nothing has changed since she last visited.
Maa Adjoa goes to her WhatsApp messages and sees some threads from her colleagues. She replies to each one of them and turns to the number that had sent her the rules, some links and the story.
She has a question she needs to ask. Carefully, she takes a closer look at the rules and sees the discussion and chatroom platforms. She tabs on the chatroom link and she is added.
She feels like she has literally entered a big house.
“Hello,” she posts and waits.
“Hello there, I’m the only good person here,” Cobby Grant replies.
She finds herself smiling for the first time since the emotional torture with Kwamena. She can tell straight away that the Cobby chap has a great sense of humour.
“Hi, new member! I’m the only General on the platform. My job is to keep everybody in my crew happy so don’t hesitate to contact me if there’s a problem. Beware of the only good person here. He has numerous wives on this platform. And I’m his apprentice,” a Linford Mensah posts.
“Hello, dear, I’m the Headmistress here, I guess you know what headmistresses do so I won’t bore you with further details. You are most welcome. Let me warn you, I’m the only one who wears the glasses I’ve just posted so stay clear of them otherwise I will meet out the usual punishment without holding anything back.” Ruth Cole Baah replies to her post.
“She spanks me on my bare buttocks with her bare hands so I fool a lot to get punished,” Cobby adds.
“Eh, Maame l3, Ruthie! Headmistress paa and you say ‘meet’ out usual punishment? The word is ‘mete’ wai…meet de3 ad3n? Eyi, conference mmom!” a Princess Hayford posted with lots of laughing emojis.
By the time she leaves the chatroom that day, she has met Elsie Ansah, the marriage contractor; Nana Amoah, the resident pastor; Ahmed, the group police; Tsotsoo, the Kassapole; Obaapa Akosombo Nyantie, the lawyer who does not work pro bono, Dr Jacob Acquah, the man with slangs for everything and everyone, Jutta, the lady who likes to put pepper in every eye that is posted, and many others who made her feel very welcome.
She finds herself really laughing at the way members of the group are carrying on.
She does not really understand how things work in the chartroom so she decides to keep a low profile till she finds her way around the chatroom.
And then she is asked to introduce herself with her name, Date of Birth, Occupation, Location and a pic.
She gladly supplies the info and the people online make reassuring remarks about her picture which really gladdens her heart.
She wakes up the next day to see she has over a thousand threads from the chartroom alone. Intrigued, she decides to read every single thread before going to bed.
She finds herself smiling and even laughing at the kind of things posted in the chatroom.
Someone has been on the ‘Hot Seat’, during the evening, which she realizes is a question and answer segment where a member of the group was put on the supposed ‘hot seat’ and asked questions.
Some of the questions that were thrown at the one on the ‘hot seat’ were really fiery and unbelievably provocative, but surprisingly all questions had been answered.
She chances on a post about a paid platform and signs up without a second thought.
The files in PDF format are sent to her as soon as she pays for them. Whiles going through the editions she sees an article on ‘Surviving a Breakup” from one of the Sizzling Novella editions and finds it timely.
She is really grateful for the article as it gives her things to do to let go of the pain that is still lodged in her heart.
She flips to her memo on her phone and writes down a few things she can do to alleviate the void and emptiness she feels and help her cope with her current predicament.
Maa Adjoa really feels so at home on the Klever Platforms that she decides this is a place she will like to be for as long as it exists. She likes the way people tolerate each other’s views and how people quickly rally around to help someone in need. Sometimes all it takes is for someone to post a question and people share their diverse views which help one way or the other.
In her darkest moments, she has found a new hobby; reading, and she is loving every bit of it.
For nothing at all, the stories are keeping her occupied and focused so she does not spend much of her time whining and gnashing over a situation she cannot change.
Somehow, the stories and interactions from members of the platform have helped her poor heart to accept the painful truth that she has lost Kwamena for good. She has to reposition herself to love again after she has mended her broken heart.
