EPISODE 20
Alicia is reminiscing.
She is in the kitchen in their home putting away dishes.
The time at the resort has been fantastic but since they are scheduled for work on Monday, they had agreed to leave the resort by noon.
She had parked all their belongings virtually naked and they made love again that day before they set off.
The drive was eventless and as Curtis steered them home she had popped the question.
“So, what is the deal with you and Cynthia. How on earth did she end up on the same flight and in the same hotel as you.”
“Honestly, I have no idea. I have my suspicions but I don’t think it was a coincidence. I see Omar’s hand in this and I’m going to put them in their place once and for all.”
“Why do you say that?”
“Well, I refused to speak to them after they did something very stupid the last time we met. I was never going to tell you this but the whole meeting was about the fact that I was risking my life living with you. Omar especially took things too far and brought Cynthia to the bar. I left when I saw what he planned to do.”
Alicia takes the opportunity and tells him about Omar’s visit when he left.
Curtis had been very furious to hear about Omar’s conduct ‘but Alicia had cooled him down.
Curtis is pretty sure someone at his workplace leaked his travel details from to a third party and he planned on getting to the bottom of it as soon as he got back to the office.

He had also assured her that he had no child with anyone to the best of his knowledge. He admitted that Cynthia at one point in their relationship mentioned that she was pregnant but when all efforts to convince her to keep the baby failed, she had gone ahead and aborted the baby without his consent. According to Curtis, Cynthia said she was not ready for saggy breasts and cuts in her private parts.
Alicia comes out of her reveries and moves to the next room from the kitchen which happens to be the laundry.
She has placed their bags in there as soon as they arrived to put away their dirty clothes but Curtis has distracted her with kisses and hugs.
It is the right time to put them away since Curtis is napping.
She puts out all her dirty clothes and then turns her attention to Curtis’ travelling bag. He has not separated the dirty clothes from the clean ones as usual so she has to virtually bring everything out and sort them.
When she takes a dirty boxer to put it away, something falls out of it.
Alicia finds a used condom and a lady’s panty staring at her when she bends over to pick it up.
She is shocked for a while and wonders if Curtis has been completely honest with her.
She plays the incident over and over in her head and concludes that someone might have planted them.
And then she wraps the pantie in a carrier bag and tosses the used condom in the trash.

She has a plan to put Cynthia in her place.
She puts away the rest of the clothes and joins Curtis in the bedroom.
He is still sleeping.
Alicia has a group meeting later in the day so she decides to catch up on the happenings on the platform since their last meeting.
She goes through the threads and is happy the group is growing. Much as she is happy about the growth in numbers she is sad that a lot of people are being infected with the deadly virus.
She sees members are really getting along just fine with a few misunderstandings here and there. Members are sharing their fears and problems and Alicia makes a mental note to look into some of them in detail.
She sees that Nana Afua has hinted that she was going to share her story that evening and so Alicia waits in anticipation. She has wondered how a fourteen-year-old had contracted the disease.
Alicia dozes off for a bit and wakes up to see Curtis looking at her with his heart on his face.
“Love you more each day, Ally. The word love can’t even express the depths of my feelings for you.”
She smiles, showing her beautiful face.
Slowly, Alicia gets up and serves dinner.
They retire to the living-room when they finish and get hooked on soccer.
When the notification tones start sounding on her phone, she knows it is time to divert her attention to PLWHS Rock 2 platform.

NANA AFUA
My name is Afua Wonkyima Baidoo. I am fourteen years old.
I’m sure you are all wondering how I ended up with HIV.
Well this is it.
I lived with my parents and two younger siblings a while ago. My mom was suddenly taken ill and my Dad had to move from one hospital to the other in search of help for her deteriorating condition. At first, it wasn’t clear what the problem was but eventually they found out there was a hole in her heart which needed immediate attention.
Doctors marvelled at how she lived with it all these years without detection. To cut a very long story short, she needed surgery. My Dad had some savings but it was not enough so he spoke to some of his friends and I was detailed to go for money from a man my Dad referred to as a brother from another mother.
When I got to his place he took advantage of the situation and defiled me. He told me if I told my Dad what happened, he will take his money back and then my mom would die. That was two years ago.
My Dad noticed my mood swings during that time but any time he tried to draw me out I just shut him off. I told him I was worried about my mom.
My mom was still recovering from the surgery.
Unfortunately, my mom passed a year later and I was able to confide in my Dad.
He went to his friend’s house and beat him to pulp after a heated exchange.
His wife reported the assault to the police and my Dad was arrested.
His friend was so much in a bad shape that the matter was processed for court when his wife refused an out of court settlement. It was at the court that it came to light why my Dad beat him up so badly.

[/stextbox]My Dad got six months for the aggravated assault and his friend was tried in another court for defilement since I was a minor. He got twenty years imprisonment. It was during the court case that our lawyer asked for an HIV test. When I tested positive, my Dad’s friend was tested too. He was HIV positive.
So far, my friends have been great and my Dad and siblings have been very supportive. I don’t know where I would be right now if I didn’t have them in my life.
My Dad has been my real inspiration in all this. He has held nothing back from me and treats me as if nothing has happened. It is my utmost wish to make him proud someday and that wish pushes me to live even in spite of all the stigmatization and the harsh treatment that comes with being HIV positive.
My dream is to become a doctor, fall in love and raise HIV-free kids of my own in future.

This is really a very sad story. I feel so angry I can just kill that man if he is standing before me. Thank you, Afua for sharing your story with us.
Each member expresses their disgust at what her father’s friend did and states that they are happy the law dealt with him.
The whole meeting turns into a discussion on men and women who take advantage of young girls and boys.
Alicia and Curtis take a long shower after the football match.
Curtis kisses her in the shower and tells her he loves only her.
Alicia returns his kisses and caresses.
“You are so irresistible, Alicia. I can’t seem to have enough of you.”
“The feeling is mutual, Curt. You turn me on just by your presence. My heart is overflowing with love and desire for you. Make me yours again. I want you in me.”
Curtis makes sweet slow love to her right there in the bath.
It is the most passionate love-making Alicia has ever experienced.
