“No, Demi, stay with me, please stay with me, Demi, my love!” Kelly Philip wept bitterly, holding her husband tightly as her tears fell on his face, putting her lips near his ears and whispering fiercely. “I was going to tell you tonight, my love, as I made sweet love to you…I’m with child, my darling! I wanted to surprise you today! I’ve been with child for a month now, but I wanted to make sure…and this time, I know he is your heir! Do not leave me! Your son needs you!”
King Demi stared at his wife and there was great joy on his face as he smiled bravely. With difficulty, the dying king removed the golden chain around his neck and pressed it into the hand of his wife.
“My unborn son!” he whispered to her as tears of anguish fell down his face. “Oh, I won’t be here to welcome my son! Tell him how his father loved him, my darling. He is to be called Temidayo David Dayo, after my father! Put this chain around his neck…from me, to him, my unborn son!”
And then King Demi’s hand fell…
He was dead!
Kelly Philip and her daughter screamed in anguish!
The people watching shouted with great anguish and fear!
Temitayo Anubi jumped from the platform and approached the Rock of Redemption!
“People of Dayo, you have a new king!” he screamed defiantly!

All the royal elders, kingmakers, advisors and magicians got to their feet, stunned!
Most of the warriors had drawn their swords, and they were waiting!
Prosper Freeman got to his feet groggily as tears fell down his face.
“Me, the Commander of the Dayo Army, and my faithful warriors, will only serve you as king if you possess the Royal DayoSword!” he said with clenched teeth and pointed his sword at Temitayo. “But as the Creator is my witness today, if you don’t take up the DayoSword I will cut off your neck where you stand for the murder of my king!”
Temitayo Anubi licked his lips nervously, suddenly afraid.
“Bring a ladder!” Prosper Freeman commanded.
A few minutes later two warriors brought a metallic ladder which was put up against the Rock of Redemption.
“Climb, and take the Royal DayoSword!” Prosper Freeman commanded fiercely as his tears of anguish fell. “If indeed you take it, it’ll mean the Creator has crowned you the new King of Dayo! If you don’t take it, I’ll cut up your body to so many pieces that grains of sand would even appear bigger, you murderer!”
Temitayo Anubi stepped forward in haste, and climbed the ladder, his face excited at the prospect of being king. He looked at the DayoSword just hanging in the air above the olive tree. He reached out and held its hilt.
Suddenly, a sizzling bolt of lightning shot from the sword and struck him in the chest, hurling him from the ladder so that he crashed horribly down on the ground!
The people screamed with excited fury!
Temitayo was helped to his feet by Stephen Skandy…and there was a hushed silence around the crowd.
Something rather incredible had happened!
Temitayo had gone suddenly grey!
His hair, eyebrows, eyelashes, moustache and beard had all turned grey!
“You traitor!” Prosper Freeman bellowed with rage. “What have you done to our king? You murdered him, and you have been rejected by the Creator because you couldn’t possess the Royal DayoSword! You die!”
He rushed at the petrified Temitayo Anubi, but suddenly Leke Olugbade Bally made himself visible beside Temitayo, dressed in white robes, and with a face shining with sheer wickedness.
The evil man flung his hand, and Prosper Freeman was thrown back fiercely into the air to struck a pillar of block several meters away, and then he slid to the ground and hit hard with trickles of blood running down his nostrils.
Temitayo Anubi grabbed the robes of Leke Olugbade Bally and shook him hard with an anguished expression.
“Why couldn’t I take the sword?” Temitayo screamed. “You promised me I’ll be king! Why can’t I have the Royal DayoSword?”
“Because you spilt the blood of a reigning king, you fool!” Leke Bally screamed and pushed Temitayo away fiercely. “Now you’ve set us all back! Now we can’t open the portal, you fool! Didn’t I tell you not to lay a finger on the king?”
Temitayo began to weep with frustration and pain.
“I couln’t help it!” he cried. “Oh, no, I couldn’t help it! I just remembered my father being imprisoned! What are we going to do?”
“You fool!” Leke Olugbade Bally hissed furiously. “You’re only alive because you can still possess the sword…otherwise I would’ve killed you this very moment!”
“But how can I possess the sword?” Temitayo cried in agony.
Leke Olugbade pointed at the little Princess Uvbi Akenzua.
“By making an atonement of the blood of the king you spilt!” Leke Olugbade Bally said wickedly. “I’ll turn the minds of the people and make them hate King Demi as a mad king who killed his own mother! But we’re lucky the king didn’t have a son! You will wait until the princess is twenty-four years of age, and then you will marry her, and break her virginity, and by the little trace of blood, your sin against the king will be assuaged, and then you can possess the sword!”
“Twenty-four years?” Temitayo Anubi screamed. “She’s only five years old! Are you saying I should wait nineteen years before having the Royal DayoSword and be recognized as the real king?”
“Yes, you fool!” Leke Olugbade Bally screamed. “That is the only way! Take the little princess and imprison her inside the palace so that no man sees her! We must keep her until she’s twenty-four! Take her away now, and hope Dayo isn’t destroyed by then!”
“Destroyed?” Temitayo Anubi whispered with horror. “How? Why?”
“Because you murdered a king!” Leke Bally said. “Look at the olive!”
Everybody looked, and then the people screamed with fear when one leaf of the olive suddenly withered, and fell off!
It was the first time ever that a leaf had fallen off the spirit of Dayo!
“There are dark times ahead!” Leke Bally said. “The olive plant has started to shirk because there is no true king in Dayo! You should pray that it lasts for nineteen years, otherwise Dayo would be destroyed, together with you, fool!”
Prince Temi screamed as he felt the nausea coming on, and the darkness approaching, followed by the dizziness, signalling the fact that the spirit of Jhon Moziz was taking him away from this scene!
“No, no, no, Jhon Moziz, don’t do this!” Temi screamed with real anguish. “I want to see this! I want to see what happened to my parents and my sister!”
“Alas, my Lord, there is no more time!” Jhon Moziz said sadly. “If you don’t return to your body in a few minutes, you will be trapped in the void forever! Come, one more sight to show you, and then I will take you to your body!”
“Nooooo!” Temi screamed in anguish, but the darkness found him, and the sight faded!
