“Today, when I faced Chinua with that sword, something took over me!” Nneka said in a broken voice. “He cried for forgiveness, Temi, yes. I know I behaved like a beast. Maybe I could’ve forgiven him for my parents, even for the horror of his brutal rape…but, forgive me, I just couldn’t forgive him for the horrible way he drowned my little brother! I wanted him dead. But don’t hate me for that, Temi. I simply couldn’t control myself.”
She wept then.
Bitterly and painfully, dredging up the rot that had been trapped in her soul for so long.
And the prince of Dayo, heir to the Dayan Throne, went to her.
He went around the bed and lay down behind her, and then he draped his arms around her and drew her close.
Nneka moaned and turned gratefully, putting her face on his chest. He held her tightly as she slid on top of him and wound her arms around him, and then she mourned her past, letting the grief wash through her system.
A long time later, she began to breathe gently, and he knew she was asleep. He eased her gently on her side and made to move away, but she grabbed his arm and draped it around her body, refusing to let him leave.
His hand was lying just below the softness of her beautiful breasts. The rounded delights of her back were pressed against his loins, and because the cloth around her was not big enough, he could see the rounded edges of her silky thighs.
She was so irresistibly desirable that he tried to move away again, and this time she moaned with protest and pulled his arm tighter and up so that her left breast fitted into his palm, making his breathing increase.

She was fast asleep, though, and didn’t hear him.
He held her as she slept, and it felt very wonderful.
But he pushed his waist way back away from the soft, incredible pendulums of her behind so that his royal lance, engorged and undisciplined, would not poke her in an undesirable place and wake her up.

Okakuo Agbons ran hard in the darkness of the forest!
He could hear the ferocious barks of the killer dogs coming after him, with the warriors of Dayo riding hard in the underbrush in hot pursuit.
He had been running for almost two weeks now.
The chase had begun shortly after he left the moat, but his training in survival had ensured that he was always a step ahead. Getting out of Dayo Central had been the problem because all exit points had been closed and manned by warriors.
He had to call on some old friends to help him, and eventually, he had come through the eastern forest where the border was wide and could allow him to escape to the surrounding villages, and maybe later to Aradise, the land of peace.
But the chase had been relentless. An enraged Temitayo Anubi was keen to capture and burn him in the Dayo Square, and so a massive manhunt was out for Okakuo Agbons.
Now he was racing toward the border, but he knew it could be a lost battle. He was too tired and too weak. He had not eaten or slept really well during the two weeks, and this had slowed him down considerably.
Plus, he was running now without a horse, and his pursuers had horses and killer dogs!
He chanced a look back and saw that the dogs were almost upon him, their evil eyes glowing as they growled, salivating in anticipation of tearing his flesh into strips.
Okakuo knew this was it, he was beaten.
“Oh, Princess, my love, forgive me!” he whispered painfully as he stopped running and drew out his sword, then turned to face the dogs!
Four were in the lead, and they all leaped high for his throat, but suddenly they whined and moaned as they came up short in the air and crashed to the forest floor as if they had come up against an invisible wall between them and Okakuo!
Okakuo watched, mystified, as the dogs leaped again and again, but they came up against that invisible barrier time and again, each time making sounds of pain. Finally, they took frantic steps back and began to howl eerily at something Okakuo could not see.
He saw the warriors then coming at him hard on their horses.
Okakuo waited with his sword.
The warriors rushed at him, yelling and waving their swords and weapons.
And then it happened again!
They seemed to come up hard against that invisible wall, and they crashed rather badly to the ground! Many tried to cross, but there was no way!
Okakuo watched, mystified, as some of the warriors drew their arrows and fired poisoned tips at him, but the arrows could not penetrate that invisible barrier, and they dropped on the ground harmlessly.
Suddenly, the Army Commander, Emmanuel Stephen Skandy, appeared on his white horse. He dismounted, his face furious, and drew his sword. He pushed the warriors aside and rushed, but he slammed against the invisible wall and bounced back. He screamed with rage and slashed furiously with his sword. Sparks flew as his sword came into contact with the wall, but he couldn’t cut his way through.
Suddenly, Okakuo heard a voice behind him. The voice was weak but firm.
“Agbons, Okakuo, son of Okakuo, grandson of Okakuo the Lionheart, who was a humble servant of my Lord King Demi!”

Okakuo turned swiftly, but he could not see a thing. He scowled, a little afraid because he seemed to recognize that voice.
“Is that you, Honourable Grand Oracle Jhon Moziz?” he asked fearfully.
“Indeed, it is,” the voice of Jhon Moziz said weakly. “Today, my Lord Temi has met the Fathers! He is going to need you! Go, for I grow weak. Follow the path of the stream, and you will find a horse! Cross the border, and journey to Aradise! Ask of Emmanuel Suncity, the Butcher! Tell him I sent you to come and wait for the Chosen One!”
“The Chosen One?” Okakuo asked, confused. “But, please, sir-”
“Go!” the spirit of Jhon Moziz said. “Now! The evil of Leke Olugbade Bally approaches, and he shall melt the wall I’ve put up because I am no match for his evil sorcery! Go, flee now, Okakuo son of Okakuo!”
Okakuo Agbons turned and fled into the trees with frantic fear.
The thought of being pursued by no less atrocity than Leke Olugbade Bally had filled him with dread and terror.
Presently, he stepped into the stream and saw that it seemed to be glowing, the faint rays of the moon filtering in from the treetops.
Okakuo followed it, and then he suddenly came across a sturdy white stallion rigged with a bridle and saddle. He quickly checked the saddlebags and found water, a full bread fish sandwich, and a bottle of milk.
The other saddlebag contained warm clothing, boots, and hat.
“Oh, holy shit, Jhon Moziz, Honourable!” Okakue exclaimed with relief and delight. “May the Creator bless your hide!”
He jumped into the saddle and rode fast across the border, and didn’t stop until about an hour later when dawn was just breaking. Knowing that he was now safe, he made camp and undressed. He ate the sandwich and washed it down with the milk, and then he slept for an hour.
When he woke up the sun was already creeping up the sky.
He took a refreshing bath in a brook nearby, dressed up, and jumped on the horse.
“To Aradise we go, pardner!” he said harshly. “To find Emmanuel Suncity the Butcher, and meet this supposed Chosen One!”
He did not, however, know that a spectral figure had been standing just near him, watching him with evil intent. When he rode away the spectral figure became more solid and formed the formidable, tall and lanky figure of the terrible Leke Olugbade Bally.
The evil being, dressed in a long, white gown, suddenly touched the back of a tree and drew out a horribly long King Cobra!
The giant snake hissed furiously and coiled around the arm of the evil being.
“Go, you vile serpent!” Leke Olugbade Bally hissed. “Follow that traitor! They don’t know I allowed him to escape for a cause! Seek. Find. Destroy!”
He hurled the gigantic snake into the tree, and as it thrashed upward it suddenly transformed into a most hideous bat, and fluttered into the skies above the fleeing figure of Okakuo Agbons!
