CHAPTER 21
The siren suddenly went rigid and turned startled eyes toward the trees, and almost at the same time the red-eyed demon turned too and uttered a sudden cry of alarm at what it saw!
Travelling toward them through the dark trees was a huge ball of raging fire, but the fire was not burning the trees! It was simply moving through them at incredible speed, headed for the two evil entities!
“What is iiiiiiiiiit?” the siren sang in alarm.
The red-eyed Somtoo growled suddenly with great horror.
“It is that vile Grand Oracle!” it whispered with terror. “Go up, go up, Cruella!”
Adiekwuo Eusebia Somtoo shot into the sky frantically with blinding speed. With a screech of fear the siren began to glide upward, but it was slower and too horrified to move that fast, and the great ball of fire smashed into it!
Cruella screamed with terror and pain as the fire burned it!
It turned different shades of colours…blue, red, green, pink, violet…as it thrashed in the fire, taking on various hideous shapes!
“Nooooo, leave meeeeeee, pleeeeeeeese, let me gooooooo!” it screamed, but the fire raged around it, burning it until it turned a sickly ashy colour and slowly melted into the depths of the fire!
Very high in the sky, the red-eyed Adiekwuo Eusebia Somtoo flashed with a mixture of defiance and terror.
“We killed him, Grand Oracle!” he screamed, and then as the fire began to ascend into the sky, the demon flashed away quickly, fleeing from the wrath of the Grand Oracle of Dayo.

The raging fire had brought screams from the sleeping people, drawing out Prosper Freeman and Daniel Godwin, who were both wearing only undergarments.
“What evil is this?” Daniel Godwin growled as he emerged from his quarters, and then he followed the running figure of Prosper Freeman toward the quarters of the prince.
Prosper dove through the open doorway and then rushed into the bedroom, but Temi was not there.
“Oh, Creator, help us!” Prosper screamed and came back out in a rush.
“Where’s my brother?” Daniel asked harshly, and he had a sword in his great hand.
“He’s not here!” Prosper screamed as he rushed back outside where many men had gathered and stared at the fire which was rapidly dwindling.
“The Prince is gone!” Prosper Freeman screamed. “Look for him!”
The men began to scatter, but Okakuo Agbons suddenly pointed at the strange fire.
“Look, sir, it is the man in the hoodie!” he screamed.
Prosper turned and saw the black hoodie of the spirit of Jhon Moziz hovering over the middle of the clearing where a heap of rocks were piled up.
The arms of the hoodie came down, and then suddenly the Grand Oracle threw his arms up, and then an amazing thing happened!
The boulders, rocks and sand piled in the middle of the settlement suddenly blasted into the sky and tumbled back into the clearing, revealing a rectangular hole in the ground.
“Oh, no!” Prosper cried as he began to run furiously toward the clearing. “A grave! Siren attack! Oh, no, no, no! Into the grave! Into the grave!”

He jumped wildly over rocks and impediments and then he jumped into the grave. His heart hammered with fear when he saw Temi’s naked and inert figure lying lifelessly at the bottom of the grave.
“Danny, to me!” he screamed with horror.
Daniel Godwin threw his sword away and jumped into the grave.
“Oh, goodness! Dearest me! Is he okay?” he cried in anguish.
“I don’t know, my brother!” Prosper said fearfully. “Let’s get him to the surface!”
They lifted Temidayo up, and then the three of them were drawn forcefully out of the grave and thrown to the ground at the side of the grave. Freeman rolled and saw that the Grand Oracle’s arms were outstretched.
Jhon Moziz had drawn them out of the grave!
But Temi’s body was still lying lifelessly on the ground!
A ball of fire suddenly appeared at the tip of the Grand Oracle’s arm, and then he threw it at Temi. The fire hit the young prince and seemed to disappear into him.
Temi groaned and screamed loudly, and then sat up suddenly, his eyes wild as he looked around desperately.
And then, to Prosper Freeman’s horror, the hoodie that contained the Grand Oracle’s spirit suddenly fell to the ground!
“Jhon!” Freeman screamed with horror and rushed toward the hoodie.
“What happened to me?” Temi shouted with a confused look on his face. “Why am I covered with earth and mud? Why am I naked? What am I doing sitting on the ground?”
The people around him were talking excitedly.

“Get the prince a cloth!” Daniel shouted, and Macrex Wills quickly unwound his cover cloth and draped it around the exposed waist of the prince.
Prosper Freeman, weeping silently, approached the prince with the hoodie of the spirit of Jhon Moziz.
Temi’s eyes opened wide with horror, and then suddenly great tears came to his eyes as he got to a kneeling position and reached out with trembling hands.
“No!” he uttered painfully. “The Grand Oracle?”
Prosper Freeman nodded, crushed by sorrow.
“Yes, my Lord!” he said in agony. “We saw a raging fire, and then we checked your room but you were not there. Jhon Moziz, the Grand Oracle, revealed this grave. I’m afraid he used his last powers to save you from a siren attack!”
“A siren?” Temi whispered in agony. “A siren attacked me?”
“They’re vile spirits, the sirens of Leke Olugbade Bally, my Lord,” Daniel Godwin said softly. “They’re spiritual women. They transform themselves and steal a man’s mind, making him mad so that he loses his senses and doesn’t even know what he’s doing…and then they bury them alive!”
“No!” Temi whispered in horror. “I remember going to bed, and that was all I remember until this moment! Tell me Jhon Moziz is okay! Please, somebody, tell me that! Jhon! My Master Jhon, can you hear me? Jhon!!”
Prosper Freeman shook his head bitterly.
“Alas, he’s gone, my Lord!” he said dejectedly. “The robe fell! He’s gone!”
“No!” Temi shouted as he got to his feet and reached blindly for the hoodie. “He saved me, and I’m going to save him! Saddle me a horse!”
His young heart was broken as Daniel reached out and held him tightly.
Temi spun Daniel round effortlessly and sent him crashing to the ground. The young prince pushed Prosper Freeman back savagely as the Army Commander tried to hold him.
“Swords, to me!” Temi screamed.
There was a droning sound as the Swords of Destiny suddenly shot out of the room and travelled at blinding speed into the hands of the grieving prince.
“Stop it, Temi, damn it!” Prosper shouted as he ran toward Prince Temidayo, who held out a sword toward the Army Commander.
“Stay back!” Temi hissed furiously as he took a battle stance. “You can’t stop me, none of you! I’m going to Dayo to save my Grand Oracle!”
“He’s gone!” Prosper screamed in anguish.
“He’s not gone!” Temi hissed softly. “He’s not gone! I’m going to free him, and to hell with all of you! Nobody should try to stop me!”

Prosper held out a beseeching hand toward the prince. “I beg of you, Temi, calm down! If you rush off to Dayo now, you will be killed! All entrances are guarded solidly, and the Town Square is impenetrable! Calm down before you destroy the destiny of Dayo forever!”
“He’s right, little brother!” Daniel said as he came to stand beside Prosper Freeman, bleeding from a cut in his forehead. “You can’t get to Dayo without the Mimic Artefact.”
“I don’t need it!” Temi screamed. “That man sacrificed his last breath for me! I’m going to save him! Okakuo, mount us two horses! You’re going with me!”
Prosper Freeman stepped forward quickly so that the tip of one of the swords in Temi’s hands pressed against his throat.
“Control your pain, my Lord!” Prosper said sharply. “I know you’re in agony, but don’t use your sorrow to do something rash! Jhon Moziz saved you because you have a bigger destiny waiting! A destiny bigger than me, than the Grand Oracle, than even you! I told you once to control your agony because many more deaths await you! So, control yourself, son!”
Temi’s face was screwed up with pain as he glared defiantly at the Army Commander, and for a moment it seemed he wanted to attack Prosper.
“If you go to Dayo without the Mimi Artefact you’ll die, and Jhon will also die in that rock,” Prosper said, his voice a bit calmer. “If the Grand Oracle still breathes inside that rock, then you have to wait for the artefact to free him. Not like this, Temi, not like this.”
Temi’s hands shook, and his tears slowly fell down his face.
With a groan, he lowered the swords and held both of them with his left hand, and then he snatched the hoodie of Jhon Moziz from Prosper’s hands.
His young heart was broken as he held the hoodie to his chest, and his shoulders shook as he wept silently, cutting such a pathetic sight that even Daniel Godwin wiped tears from his eyes.
Temi raised his head slowly, and when he spoke, his voice was controlled and filled with the power and authority of the kings.
“When the Mimic Artefact is ready, I will go to Dayo,” he said with wrath. “Changed plans. I won’t bother to go and seduce Luciano Alexander, nor wait for the wedding day. When the artefact arrives, I go to Dayo. Do you understand?”
Prosper nodded with pride and took a step back, and then he bowed.
“Yes, my Lord,” he said. “Your word is law.”
Temi turned away and headed toward the forest with the hoodie in one hand, and his swords in the order.
Face and body dirty, and with only a piece of cloth tied around his middle, he looked like a demon himself as he moved toward the trees, and no one tried to stop him.
