CHAPTER 4
Jhon Moziz moved silently across the corridor on the upper landing and entered Helen Neji’s room, and then he stopped with a little scowl. Although the room was very dark, Jhon Moziz could see perfectly enough. It looked deserted in a way. The bed was neatly-laid, the bags and other things in the room arranged and stacked neatly, but it lacked a presence. It was as if the girl was no longer here because there was no lingering fragrance of her.
A little bit alarmed, Jhon Moziz floated out of the room and stopped on the corridor. Now, where was she? Had she moved to a different room, perchance? Maybe, after the extension of the house, she had craved a bigger dwelling with more space.

It was indicative that Neji Helen was no longer an active member of this family.
What could possibly have happened?
Suddenly, a green sparkling ray became stronger, leading downstairs, and Jhon Moziz breathed with relief. This was better! She was present after all.
He floated fast after the ray, and it led him back to the dining room!
Neji Helen was sitting on her father’s left. She was wearing a beautiful print dress, and her skin was as smooth as silk, and she had never looked more lovely. A bit plumper, maybe, but in a very attractive way, making her seem a little bit more matured and confident than Jhon Moziz last remembered her.
She looked so happy as she talked to her family in an animated sort of way, barely eating the sweet food in front of her. She was behaving in a most peculiar manner as if it had been a while since she saw them, further lending credence to the fact that she might have been away from home for a while.
However, Jhon Moziz did not have enough time to acquaint himself more with her history. The illegal Gateway was shaky and untrustworthy and could close over any minute, trapping him here on earth forever. He had no time to introduce Helen Neji gently to her memories. He had to work a crash course procedure, and that could not be helped.

Still invisible to them, Jhon Moziz floated down gently behind her, put his hands on her temples, and slowly released her memories of Temi in the storeroom to her.
Neji Helen shut her eyes suddenly as she felt a slight pain in her temples, and when she opened her eyes she stopped laughing immediately and a pained expression crossed her face.
“Temi, my love!” she whispered to herself in a most tragic voice, and immediately tears came to her eyes.
“My sweetie, what’s wrong?” Segun Osuolale asked his daughter. “You look as if you’ve seen a ghost!”
Neji Helen looked at them, her face in tragic pain as he stared at them.
“Neji, what’s the matter?” Grace Opurum asked with mounting fear. “Why are you so still? Is everything okay with you?”
Neji Helen shook her head fiercely, her tears falling faster, and at that same moment, Jhon Moziz waved his hands at the rest of the family. A yellow mist that sparkled from his left fingers and brushed gently across their faces.
Segun Osuolale exhaled gently and put his head back on the chair he was sitting on, asleep instantly. Neji Helen sat still, very still, and watched as her mother and brother also leaned back, threw their heads back, closed their eyes, and began to breathe gently.
“The Spirit of Jhon Moziz!” Helen Neji whispered as her bitter heartbeat with great pain. “You’re here, aren’t you? Show yourself!”
Jhon Moziz sighed and became visible slowly.
Standing beside her, he put a gentle hand on her right shoulder.
Neji Helen gasped and jumped to her feet, moving rapidly away from him as she turned around and saw him. Her tears flowed harder and she pointed a trembling finger at him.
“You evil man!” she whispered fiercely, her face filled with wrath and fury. “You! It is you! You took my memories of Temi away! Where’s he? Where’s my love?”
“You must forgive me, Earthly maiden,” Jhon began.
“Oh, stop that silly thing you’ve been saying!” she cried fiercely. “My name is Neji Helen! Neji, do you hear? And what you did was absolutely abominable! Where’s Temi?”
“I came to take you to him, Neji,” Jhon Moziz said softly.

Neji Helen gasped, and a warm glow spread over her face.
“Oh, Temi!” she whispered with great love. “Is he alright? Has he been able to do what was expected of him?”
Jhon Moziz floated slowly toward her, and the hood blew off his face.
Neji Helen gasped and took a step back.
“Oh, you’re no longer a spirit!” she cried with happiness. “Oh, Temi freed you from the boulder or whatever you were trapped inside, didn’t he?”
“Yes, indeed, he did,” Jhon Moziz said calmly. “But alas, his heart has never been right again since he left you.”
“Of course, it wouldn’t be right!” Neji cried with pain. “You knew just how much we loved each other, and yet you thought it expedient to not only separate us but take our memories of each other away!”
“And for that, I’m exceedingly sorry, do forgive me,” he said in a rush. “But, we can’t dally here for long. The Gateway I came through will close any minute, trapping me here for eternity. He needs you. Are you willing to be with him?”
“Yes, yes, haven’t I told you already to take me to him?” she cried plaintively. “Oh, I miss him so! I need him so! Take me to him!”
Jhon Moziz hesitated, and then he looked at her sadly.
“There’ll be no coming back, Neji Helen,” he said almost gravely. “If you go through that Gateway, you’ll spend the rest of your life in Dayo. Your parents, friends, this community…no one will remember you because the moment you step through, you will cease to exist here. Is this what you want?”
Neji Helen remained still for a while longer, and her face became exceedingly sad. She walked as if her legs could not support her to her mother’s side first, and she bent and kissed her cheek. Trembling and crying, she reached her father’s side and kissed his cheek too. Next, she wrapped her arms around Uche Joseph and squeezed him tightly.
“Goodbye, you shitty little darling,” she cried with much pain. “Oh, how I will miss you all.”
She straightened and wiped tears from her face, and then she nodded once.
“I’m ready, Jhon Moziz!” she whispered. “Take me to my dear love.”
Jhon Moziz felt a sudden kick to his back, and his eyes opened in alarm.
“Oh, they thrust the rod into the Gateway!” he cried with sudden alarm. “The Gateway begins to close, Earthling Maiden. Come with me!”
He sailed into the air and suddenly grabbed Neji by the arm.
“I swear to God if you call me Earthling Maiden again I’ll smash that bald head of yours to pieces!” she cried, but with a laugh of happiness as he swept her off her feet and carried her at top speed down the corridor toward the storeroom where Temi had stayed so many months ago.
Neli could see a rectangular yellow light around the door again, and her heartbeats quickened with great expectation and excitement.
She had never been so happy in her life!
Yes, Neji had always felt there was something precious missing from her life. In the past months, she had found herself coming to the storeroom over and again just to stand in perplexed agitation, sure that there was something here, something important, but always unable to put her finger on it.
Finally, here she was, about to see Temi again, her sweet darling who had been wrenched from her life so forcibly and cruelly.
The door of the storeroom flew off its hinges and smashed against the other wall as Jhon Moziz carried her into the room.
Neji Helen saw a circular flaming hole in the wall above the cot where Temi had slept. It was a huge hole, sparkling with amber fire on its edges, and glowing a lovely sky blue in the middle.
“We go through there?” she asked, exhilarated. “Temi waits for me there?”
“Yes, Earth…Neji, Neji Helen,” he said, correcting himself, and Neji burst into laughter.
“Better, Mr Jhon Moziz!” she cried excitedly. “What are you waiting for? Let’s go!”
Jhon Moziz held her hand and dragged her into the sizzling Gateway. His body sailed through easily, but Neji Helen slammed into an invisible wall, and she flew backwards, falling on the cot!
“Wait, Mr Moziz!” Neji screamed with horror. “Please wait! I hit something!”
John Moziz swirled around inside the Gateway and reached out for Neji’s extended hand. He sailed backwards, trying to pull her through, but she slammed into the wall again, and she fell back once more on the cot.
Jhon Moziz sailed out of the Gateway and settled on the floor inside the storeroom with consternation and horror on his face as he looked at her.

Neji Helen’s face was broken up into acute pain as she got to her feet and stared at him with tears of anguish on her face.
“Why?” she whispered, shaking her head in pain. “Why can’t I go through? Oh, why can’t I go to my Temi? Why, Jhon Moziz, why?”
“There’s something holding you back,” he said hoarsely. “Something that ties you here to this Earth! What is it? What didn’t you tell me, Earthly Maiden?”
Neji Helen was trembling now, and her tears fell harder as she almost wrung her hands in anguish, unable to meet Jhon Moziz’s eyes.
And Jhon Moziz knew with a cold sinking feeling in his guts that indeed, there was something wrong!
This lady had a secret!
“There’s nothing holding me back!” Neji cried desperately. “Please, find a way to send me to my love, please, please, I beg of you!”
Jhon Moziz felt another sudden kick in his back, and he knew Prosper Freeman was frantically pushing the staff through the Gateway because the fire had turned red at their side of the Gateway.
Jhon Moziz’s eyes became a terrible blue as he gazed at the distraught Neji Helen from the top of her forehead, down her face, her neck, chest, and then he gasped and took a step back, his blue shining eyes changing once more to normal eyes.
“You lied,” he whispered, traumatized, alarmed and dismayed. “You’re not alone, woman! Indeed, you have two heartbeats and a soul presence inside you! You’re with child, earthly maiden!”
