CHAPTER 16
[wp_ad_camp_1]“So it shall be,” Leke Bally said in a sinister voice. “Be prepared! The Oppressor passes soon. Follow him, and as soon as the ogre is down, and the Oppressor emerges from his throat, decapitate him without pause!”
“But, Master, I do not understand it,” Temitayo said with a little bit of unease. “I killed his father, and because of that we had to wait eighteen years to redeem that murder. If I decapitate Temi, wouldn’t that also be equated to murder, and force us to wait even more years?”
“Don’t be a fool!” Leke Bally hissed, and his eyes burned with fierce venom. “You do not contradict me! The White Lands neutralizes Dayo, for one! Secondly, he has not been sworn in as King yet! So, if you kill him, you will wield the Royal DayoSword. So, do as I tell you, weakling!”

“It shall be done as you wish, Master,” Temitayo said, and immediately Leke Olubgade Bally disappeared, and the hanging sword clattered to the floor.
Temitayo took a great breath and picked up the sword.
He had always believed in the power and ability of Leke Olugbade Bally, but somehow, it seemed Temi always managed to slip the nets of the evil entity, and that did not do anything to make Temitayo calm.
He wanted to kill his cousin, yes, but he did not welcome the prospect of fighting Temi at all simply because he was still a little scared. But with Temi weakened and unable to defend himself, as Leke Bally had said, it would be easy to kill him.
Hopefully!

Rose came awake with a gasp, and for a moment felt greatly disoriented, wondering briefly where she was, and knowing that something was amiss.
And then reality slammed into her with a blast, and she knew exactly where she was.
She got up from bed with a little cry!
“Temi!” she whispered.
She was in her undergarments because she had taken off the warrior uniform during the night. It had been too hot! Rose quickly slipped into her trousers and shirt, slipped her feet into her boots, and emerged from her room.
The moment she saw that the heavy bars across the back of the main door were down, her heart missed a beat.
“Temi, no, no, no!” Rose whispered and rushed to the room her prince had used during the night.
Temi was not there.
The Royal DayoSword was under the pillow, but not the Swords of Destiny. With a little cry, Rose rushed toward the main door just as her old father also came into the hall, still wearing those crude shorts.
His eyes opened wide with horror when he saw Rose racing toward the door.
“No, Rosie, no, no, no!” he cried with terror. “The ogre is still sleeping out there! If you go out, you will die!”
“Give me a sword, Pappy!” she cried, obviously in great distress. “Temi went out. I have to help him.”
Her father rushed to her side and held her shoulders.
“If he went out, then he’s already dead, my Diamond!” he said gravely. “Please, understand me!”
Just then old Babangida appeared in the doorway with a heavy sword in his hand.
“I saw him going out,” he said sadly. “Our prince, our king to be. We should be helping him, but alas, we’re all cowards! Take my sword, my daughter. If you can be of help, then help him on this noble cause!”
“Baba, are you out of your bloody mind?” Kehinde bellowed with rage, but Rose rushed to the old man’s side and grabbed the sword.
Kehinde blocked his daughter’s path.
“No!” he screamed. “I forbid you to go out!”
“Will you let mother go to battle alone?” Rose shrieked at her father, and her face was desperate and wild.
“You indeed love him!” Kehinde whispered, and he made no attempt to stop her then as she threw open the door and rushed outside.
Kehinde quickly closed and barred the door.
“My daughter is dead,” he whispered, and slowly sank to the floor and began to weep softly.
Rose noticed that the sky was now a bit clearer, but still tinged with that uncanny and abysmal yellowness. She took the path toward the stream, and she ran very hard.
When she came clear of the settlement, she saw that Temi was running far ahead on the brown rocks, and behind him was a figure of a man whom she could not identify. It was no use calling out because Temi was too far away.
She intensified her running, pumping her arms desperately as she chased after him. Her boots thudded heavily on the brown rocks, and then it came!
A mighty roar that shook the ground!
And, far ahead, she saw a sight that made her heart flip with unimaginable horror!
The ogre was rising from the stream of water ahead!
[wp_ad_camp_1]He was a gigantic, ugly beast!
He rose to his feet, bigger than anything Rose had ever seen!
His head was gigantic with a protruding forehead that looked like a mountain. His skin was brown, and his eyes were two vertical slits that glittered like lasers. He was naked, and the size of his manhood alone was like a full oak tree. His arms were like tall buildings, and as he stood it seemed his head almost disappeared into the clouds!
He held a hand out, and his hand was as huge as the skies!
He leaned forward to peer at the three people racing toward him, and he bellowed with a horrible rage that sent the second man diving to the ground with terror!
Yes, that man was Temitayo Anubi, and he was scared out of his wits!
This was the first time he had seen the ogre live, and his terror was so complete that he wished he could just vanish into thin air!
Temi smiled grimly when he saw the gigantic man reaching out a hand for him. He promptly threw the Swords of Destiny into the air to either side of him.
“Swords of Destiny, wait here, and follow me when I’m airborne!” he said grimly, and the swords hovered in the air obediently as their owner raced forward.
With another roar the ogre swept Temi up and held him by the arm with his thumb and forefinger, raising him promptly up above the open canyon of his mouth!
His teeth looked like stripped trees, and his open mouth was as wide as the lake!
The ogre dropped Temi into his mouth, and he fell rapidly toward the neck of the monster!
“To me, Swords of Destiny!” Temidayo screamed desperately, and the swords which had been following his body promptly landed into his hands.
“Fire, Swords!” he screamed, and the edges of the swords burst into flames instantly.
Temi slipped past the teeth of the ogre, and saw that the throat of the monster was as long as the walls of a ten storey building! As the mouth of the beast began to close, Temi hurled himself at the ogre’s throat and stuck his swords fiercely into the flesh.
The ogre bellowed with sudden pain, the noise almost driving Temi deaf!
With the swords embedded in the beast’s throat, Temi threw himself sideways with the swords still stuck in, and as he went around in a circular movement, the blazing swords cut through the throat of the ogre, and burned through the tough cutaneous tissues!
Rose stopped running as she saw the neck of the ogre suddenly erupting into fire!
“Oh, Temi,” she whispered with awe and admiration.
The ogre went round and round, trying to tear Temi from his blazing throat, but to no avail. He bellowed and stamped, and still Temi kept on cutting a path around his neck.
The beast’s neck was now one great blazing fire all around, and then with a final roar, it performed an almost graceful pirouette and then crashed fiercely into the stream on his back, his fall shaking the whole ground as if an earthquake was ripping it apart.
His burning neck tore outward, almost a total decapitation!
Temi could feel the heat of the fire and the pungent smoke entering his own throat!
He was suffocating, and needed to get out fast!
But something awful was happening!
He could feel invisible slimy hands on his ankles and body, trapping him, pulling him down as he tried to get out.
“What vile evil is this?” he groaned with fury. “Begone from me!”
The more he tried to get out, the harder the hands held and dragged him down. He struggled, gasping for air, and finally, he let the swords go and crawled feebly toward the open throat of the dead ogre!
The invisible hands now began to pummel Temi with hard, unbearable blows! He could not see them, and so he was powerless to resist as blow after blow thudded into him, causing him to bleed through the mouth.
He could not breathe, and his lungs were near to rupturing!
Temi did not know that this was the work of the evil Leke Olugbade Bally!
And, unknown to him too, Temitayo Anubi was on his feet, and had taken the sword Leke Olugbade Bally had given him and was running toward the severed head of the ogre to finish off Temi.
When Temi had almost lost consciousness, the hands finally stopped pummelling and holding him. Instead, they dragged him to the edge of the gaping and burned throat of the ogre and tossed him out into the stream.
Temi gasped weakly as he floundered in the water, gasping for breath and trying not to lose consciousness.
When he stood up, the water was up to his chest.
He struggled forward under great strife and came out of the water, falling weakly on the rocks still coughing and fighting for breath.
His face was swollen badly from the onslaught of the invisible hands, and his whole body was hurt so badly that he could not even lift his own hand.
He felt very dizzy and nauseous, and every inch of his body ached from the terrible beating he had received from the evil hands.
He tried to drag himself to his feet several times, but he was too weak and worn out, too much in pain. Still, he struggled for breath and turned on his belly.
Temi retched horribly and then vomited harshly.
[wp_ad_camp_1]He gasped and tried to stay conscious.
Head bent, retching, weak and in great pain, he presented a most docile target just as Leke Bally had said.
Behind Temi, Anubi smiled evilly as he paused and twirled his sword a few times, exhilarated by the easy prey Temi presented.
He gripped the sword firmly, and then he began to walk deliberately toward Temi with murder in his heart!
