GRAND FINALE
Shortly after Maabena excused herself to visit the ladies, her phone that was on the table started ringing and it caught the attention of Ginola. Unfortunately, the caller was none other than Quincy and his picture was boldly displayed on the phone. Ginola out of curiosity took the phone and watched the picture on the screen carefully. He took his phone went to the gallery and after flipping through, he saw Quincy’s picture that was captured by the CCTV camera in his boss‘s mansion. He quickly copied Quincy’s number when he called again and placed the phone back as it was before he took it. He smiled to himself and did the cross sign on his face. In a short while Maabena came out from the ladies and apologised in taking long inside the ladies.
Maabena Boaduwaa:
Sorry for staying long inside there, most of the seats in the ladies were not in good shape so I had to wait till I got a better one to use.
Ginola:
(fakes a smile) Oh don’t worry my dear, the important thing is that you are out and here with me now but your phone kept ringing the moment you excused yourself.
Maabena Boaduwaa:
(picks the phone to check the caller) Oh, that was my boyfriend trying to reach me but I will call him back when we are done with our little meeting. You know, you don’t have to mix pleasure with business.
Ginola:
(smiles again knowing what he had stumbled upon) You are very correct my dear. I love the way you reason and I must confess your boyfriend is a very lucky guy to have such a pretty and intelligent lady as a lover. Some of us could give all we have to get such women but the nature of our work doesn’t give us time to engage ourselves in any intimate relationship for long. My job is always demanding my attention and my women can’t cope with that so I don’t get to stay in a relationship for long.
Maabena Boaduwaa:
(sips on her drink) Oh so bad for you but even with the sweet thing you just said about me, my boyfriend doesn’t seem to see my value and he takes much of his time attending to his male friend more than me.
Ginola:
(stops smiling and gives a serious face before talking) Men who treat women like that don’t deserve to live on this earth, they deserve to die and die a miserable death, my dear. He is to be shown the way to hell without mercy or any favour even though he will beg for his stupid life to be given a second chance on this earth. Do you have his picture on your phone? I want to see the face of that low life who has failed to acknowledge a very pretty and endowed lady like you?
Maabena Boaduwaa:
(picks her phone and searches for Quincy’s picture) That is him right there sir, his name is Quincy and we have been dating for over three years now.
Ginola:
(tries to be nice) Ah so this fine gentleman is the one who has failed to appreciate the good handiwork of God. He deserves twelve lashes from four strong men holding his legs and hands so that he can come back to his senses.
Maabena Boaduwaa:
Hahahahaha say that again my dear, he deserves even more than that. I am praying to God that he comes back to his senses soon.
Ginola:
Not to worry my dear, everything will be fine in no time.
Maabena Boaduwaa:
Hmmmmm, I will call him later. Now tell me the way forward, how is your method of payment going to be? I don’t like cheques when I’m transacting business with people I haven’t done business with before.
Ginola:
Don’t worry my dear, I will pay you physical cash when we agree finally on something.
Maabena Boaduwaa:
That sounds good, now take a look at this picture on my phone. The young man you see in there is the guy you have been searching for all this while. (hands her phone over to Ginola)
Ginola:
(takes a serious look at the picture on the phone screen) Mmmm you are right. You know what, I will meet you this evening at this same place with your money so that you also give me the information I need to nab this guy. He has been a thorn in my flesh for a very long time. Please meet me here This evening at 6pm so that we finalise everything once and for all.
Maabena Boaduwaa:
I will be here even before the 6pm you told me to report.
Ginola:
Very well then, I will see you later in the evening as I rush to go and organise your money for you in the evening.
Maabena Boaduwaa:
Oh, I love people who walk their talk. I will see you later.
Ginola pays the waiter and rushes to the car park and sits in his car as he makes a phone call.
On Phone:
The Boss:
Yeeeeees, how may I help you this afternoon? I am relaxing and you know I don’t joke with my siesta when am observing it.
Ginola:
Boss! Boss!! Boss!!!
The Boss:
(cuts in) Will you talk and stop mentioning my name like a fool, you idiot.
Ginola:
Boss, I know after all the insults you are raining on me, you will sing my praise. Boss, I have gotten an informant who is willing to give me information on the fool who spied on us the night that we showed that traitor the way to hell. I mean that same guy who has given us sleepless nights.
The Boss:
Ginola are you sure of what you just said?
Ginola:
Boss I am very sure of what i’m saying and the informant even showed me his picture.
The Boss:
So what is the informant trading the information for?
Ginola:
Boss she is demanding for thirty thousand Ghana cedis in exchange for the information.
The Boss:
Herh, you mean the person having the information is a female?
Ginola:
Yes boss, she is a young lady who works at the hospital we chased that guy to that evening.
The Boss:
Hmmmm, this is very interesting indeed, so where are you now? You need to rush home and get the money for her before she changes her mind.
Ginola:
Boss, I’m about to drive from the place I met her to the house so that I come for the bounty she wants.
The Boss:
Hmmmmm, women can never be trusted in this world not to talk about keeping secrets. See, after you get the money to her, lure her into friendship and get to know where she stays, we will give her the ticket to hell for snitching on another person because in our line of business, no witnesses are left to tell the story some other time. Moreover she can blackmail us some day.
Ginola:
Boss, I’m not done with my exploits this afternoon. By the time i’m done telling you the next thing, you will see that I have killed two birds with one stone.
The Boss:
So what is the next thing you have for me?
Ginola:
Boss, I have also found that fool who came to deliver the faeces to us in replacement of the consignment.
The Boss:
(sits up) What did you just say Ginola?
Ginola:
Exactly what you heard boss, I told you I have killed two birds with one stone.
The Boss:
Hahahaha, indeed you have done what Napoleon couldn’t do and I’m proud of you. You know what, come over to the house right this moment because when this is all over I have a very big package for you as I promised.
Ginola:
(gives a loud laughter) Thank you very much boss I’m very grateful sir.
Ginola drives to the mansion of his boss to arrange for the bounty. Meanwhile Mike and Henrietta were having a quality time together and he took the opportunity to tell Henrietta about Julia and her late mother’s funeral. He further went further to tell her about the feeling he thinks Julia has for him and that she shouldn’t feel bad whenever she sees the two of them together. Commissioner Barnor on the other hand conveyed an immediate meeting with his senior officers to show them the information he had stumbled upon so that they strategize on how they were going to clump down the boss and his entourage. Several units and teams were formed and every team was given an assigned role on how they were going to go about things on the day they want to strike. A spy team was formed to monitor the movement of the boss and his group. On the other side, Julia was thinking on how to approach his boss because he had not uttered a single word on the consignment she brought and that alone was choking her up.
Later in the Day:
At the Boss‘s Mansion:
Sheikh Nazir:
(walks in screaming as the bodyguards tried to stop him and tame him down) I have had enough of this nonsense and I won’t take any more excuses from you or anyone in this damn house.
The Boss:
Trouble, you can leave both of us now. I will handle it from here.
Trouble:
Okay boss, I will be outside. If you need anything you can call on me.
The Boss:
That’s okay.
Sheikh Nazir:
(still screaming) I have had enough of your gimmicks and child’s play Mr man! I spend an outrageous amount of money at the hotel I’m lodging waiting to receive the goods I ordered. Those things are not forthcoming and my freaking money isn’t also coming. There is a limit to what every rational human being can take and I have had it up to here, I can’t take this nonsense any longer and if……
The Boss:
(cuts in) Will you please shut your smelling mouth, you can’t walk into my house and be screaming my roof down with your unpolished English. Karl has made it clear to you that we are all involved in this mess together. The money we invested into this deal is thrice the amount you injected into the deal. I have on several occasions explained to you that you take your time as I try to solve this problem amicably. Shouting and barking like a dog won’t change anything and one thing that I hate so much is for people to walk into my mansion and scream like they are living in the jungle.
Sheikh Nazir:
What nonsense! How dare you call me a dog? You have the effrontery to insult me and call me names after you duped me of my hard-earned money. I am giving you three days, if I don’t get my money or consignment, hahaha Allah walahe, I will show you that I’m not as soft and sober as you think I am. In fact, I will make heads row in this house and I will drink from your skull.
The Boss:
(slams his fist on the dining table as he stands up from his seat) Enough of this nonsense you smelling pig! What I won’t take from you is for you to walk into my expensive mansion, insult and threaten me in front of my son and maids. For this gross misconduct and disrespect, I will grant you a free visa and ticket to hell (pulls a side arm out and fires three times into the chest of sheikh Nazir)
Trouble:
(rushs in) Boss are you okay? I heard the sound of a gunshot in here.
The Boss:
I am very okay, clear the mess here and if he came with his bodyguards, make sure none of them walks out of this compound alive. Also make sure you dump them at a place where no one will see you. I mean do a clean job and leave no traces behind. Now get going and do as I have instructed you to do.
Trouble:
Consider it done, boss.
Back at the Restaurant:
Maabena Boaduwaa:
Sorry, I’m late sir, I was stuck in traffic coming here and also you know the stress you pass through when using public transport?
Ginola:
Its okay my dear. The important thing is that you are here now and we can transact business from here. I have brought the money you charged in cash and in fifty cedis notes. Here you are so can I also get the address and information I need?
Maabena Boaduwaa:
(takes the brown envelope and checks through) I hope this money is intact and not fake because I’m going to give you genuine information over here.
Ginola:
My dear I don’t do fraudulent business and if you check the money, you will realise I even added extra one thousand cedis to it. Where is the waiter even? Am starving he should come and take our order so we eat and talk business at the same time.
Maabena Boaduwaa:
(smiling) I love your style of doing business sir. You know what to say and when to say it, I like you for that. Here on this paper is the address of my boyfriend, that idiot is squatting at my boyfriend’s place and he has not made up his mind to move today or tomorrow but I hope you won’t kill him because I don’t want to be part of anything that leads to death.
Ginola:
(smiles whiles he speaks in his head) See mumu. You greedy bitch, if you push an old woman, does where she falls concern you?
Maabena Boaduwaa:
Hello! Hellooooo!! Helloooooooo!!! Hey is everything okay with you? You look missing here?
Ginola:
Oh forgive me my dear, my mind just took a short trip on a journey where we went through hell trying to get this dude but look at how God has brought him to me through an angel like you. Ah, the food is in finally, my dear enjoy your supper so I drop you after we are done eating. You are carrying a huge sum of money on you this evening and you can use part of this money to buy a small car so your movement becomes very easy and smooth.
Maabena Boaduwaa:
As if you are in my mind and you know what I intend to do. Ah, my boyfriend just sent me a text to come over to his place right now.
Ginola:
Not to worry, I will drive you anywhere you want to go this evening just to keep your money safe. I don’t want anything to happen to this money for you to think I doublecrossed you or tricked you.
Maabena Boaduwaa:
Of course, I will think that way should anything negative happen to me or my money but I believe you are a gentleman and won’t do anything mischievous.
Meanwhile Henrietta Barnor had gone in for the apartment keys he promised Mike of and took him to see the place.
Henrietta Barnor:
Sweetheart, this is the place I spoke to you about. Daddy said we can keep it until we decide to move elsewhere or build our own.
Michael Ansah:
Bae this place is really nice and cool, I love the serenity of the environment and it’s located at a very vantage place in the city. I promise I won’t let you and your family down because to whom much is given, much is always expected from. Baby girl, give me six months from now and I will walk you down the aisle and change your name because you have stolen my heart.
Henrietta Barnor:
Mike, I have a confession to make over here and I pray you don’t get mad at me.
Michael Ansah:
Please, don’t tell me you don’t want to settle down with me.
Henrietta Barnor:
Far from that dear. Hmmmm, see erh, please don’t get mad at me when I open up to you on my past.
Michael Ansah:
If only it’s your past and you are no longer living there, I don’t have a problem with that. Everyone has an ugly past and a scar in his or her heart that they are not proud of. I believe what you are about to say is something that happened before you met me right?
Henrietta Barnor:
(nods her head in an affirmative way) Mike don’t be scared with what I’m about to tell you because I trust you that’s why am letting you in on this one because love without trust is meaningless.
Michael Ansah:
Now you are really scaring me, do you have any medical record that is making you think I will turn my back on you later in the future? Hell no my darling, I am stuck on you like super glue.
Henrietta Barnor:
Hahahaha I love your assurance baby boy. Well to hit the nail on the head, i am an undercover agent who works with the Interpol and I was brought back home to help investigate and apprehend a notorious drug mogule called Albert Selassie aka The Boss and his partner Karl Simpson who is a Whiteman after he gruesomely murdered my cousin who was an informant to the Interpol. The only way I could penetrate through to him was through his son Albert Selassie Junior, unfortunately, I had to lose my virginity to him so that he could open up to me more and lead me to his father but my plans never worked out. I started mounting pressure on him to introduce me to his father as his fiancee but he always had an excuse to give and my superiors were also going hard on me because I had elapsed the time that was given to me to bring them down. Albert thought and believed my story when I told him I was from a very poor family, he really supported me financially but he was so arrogant and full of himself. He didn’t want to introduce me to his father thinking his father will not approve of our relationship and that I was a gold digger.
Michael Ansah:
Bae, please tell me you are joking with the things you just said? You, Henrietta Barnor, an undercover agent from the Interpol? Am I safe with you?
Henrietta Barnor:
You are very safe my king, so don’t be scared.
Michael Ansah:
Hmmmmm, if you say so I have heard you my expensive jewel. So what else do you have to add to your story that was making you scared of me leaving you or walking away from you?
Henrietta Barnor:
That is all my dear. When I was applying for this job my mother was worried and scared because she said Ghanaian men and African men feared women who were in uniform or working with any recognised security service so if you were observant when you came to the house, she was giving you great attention and pampering so that you feel welcomed in our family.
Michael Ansah:
Hahahaha, then tell her, her tactics has worked out perfectly because i’m in to stay. (Herty plants a quick kiss on Mike’s lips as they get down to business in the room)
Meanwhile Maabena and Ginola were done with their meal and Ginola paid for it and they left the resturant. He opened the door for Maabena. He drove her to Quincy‘s place. In no time they got there and Maabena ignorantly pointed out the room of her boyfriend to her new found friend. Ginola nodded his head and smiled as he bade Maabena goodnight and drove off. When he was out of sight he parked the car by the roadside to call his boss.
On Phone:
Ginola:
Good evening boss.
The Boss:
Hello Ginola, how did your meeting go with that lady?
Ginola:
Boss it went very well and smooth, I just dropped that greedy bitch at her boyfriend’s place and I mean the very place where we will get those two fools who have been a pain in the neck.
The Boss:
Very good my boy, this is the best news I have heard in recent times. After we are done with them, I will reward you handsomely for the good work you have done and I must say I’m proud of you. Hurry up and get home so we map up out our strategy to show those fools the way to hell if only that place is not filled up.
Meanwhile Trouble and his other colleagues had been stopped by a police patrol team that had mounted a snap check.
Trouble:
Guys stay calm and don’t do anything funny that will make this stupid people to suspect us of anything. (rolls his window glass down)
Chief Inspector:
Good evening youngman, kindly put your inside light on.
Trouble:
(puts the inside light on)No problem officer, please how is your evening going?
Chief Inspector:
Ah, what can I say? These criminals in the country have decided not to let us rest or possibly spend our evenings with our wives so we are serving the country with integrity. If I may ask where are you guys dressed in black suits and white shirts going at this time of the night?
Trouble:
Oh officer, we are from a church programme. Our church is having a very powerful revival inside the Legon university campus. We are junior pastors and this is the dress code for us.
Chief Inspector:
Oh that is good. I love it when I see young people serving God diligently. All the same, can I see the trunk of your car?
Trouble:
(sees Mafia putting his hand in his jacket and immediately he signals him with his eye to stay calm) Oh officer, just yesterday morning I had a problem with my trunk lock so opening it has become a problem and because of the revival I have not got time to go and fix it at the service centre.
Chief Inspector:
Well since you are men of God, I won’t bother you much but please try and fix it.
Trouble:
I will do that tomorrow sir.
Chief Inspector:
That is okay, you can go and don’t forget to say a prayer for we the police officers.
Trouble:
Certainly sir, you know without you gallant men, we can’t sleep at night with our eyes closed.
Chief Inspector:
(stops the car as it moves forward a bit) Mmmm man of God, your colleague sitting next to you has not strapped his seatbelt.
Mafia:
Oh thank you officer, I forgot to strap the seatbelt on again when I took my phone out of my suit when my wife called to check if was back at the hotel we are lodging. Thank you once again and may the good Lord protect you officers as you continue to protect us.
Constable:
(sees blood drops as the car moved forward and raises an alarm) Chief, please what did those in the car say they have in the trunk of the car? There is blood drop where the car was first parked.
Chief Inspector:
Whaaat! Now everyone should come out of the car and no one should try anything funny.
Mafia unstrap the seatbelt and brings out his side arm to fire at the chief inspector but misses his target. An army officer who was with the patrol team starts to shoot back with his assault automatic rifle. Unfortunately all the men in the car were gunned down with the exception of Trouble who surrendered earlier on to avoid being shot, he was handcuffed and pushed into the patrol team car for further interrogation and investigations to commence.
Mike’s phone kept ringing over and over but he adamantly refused to answer the call but after a while Henrietta pleaded with him to answer the call.
Henrietta Barnor:
Honey, please answer the phone for the noise is distracting my attention and mood here. Secondly, you dont know the reason why the caller is calling continuously and I’m even tired. You have really been on fire for the past 25minutes and it doesn’t look like you are drawing the curtains down any time soon.
Michael Ansah:
Which man in his right senses will get tired servicing this American tundra body? See erh, if l’m given just two minutes of your time, I will do something memorable to you that will take eternity to forget. Excuse me my dear, Quincy is calling me.
Henrietta Barnor:
Okay my regards to him (enters the bathroom to freshen up after that great encounter with Mike).
Quincy:
(on phone) Yoo guy, where the hell have you been? I have been calling your line since but you have not been answering my calls.
Michael Ansah:
Charlie forgive me but you called at the wrong time. Your call has prevented me from ejaculation this evening.
Quincy:
See mumu, I have been worried sick over here thinking you were in any kind of trouble or discomfort not knowing you were rather enjoying the pleasure of this earth. Now tell me the name of the lady whom you have decided to paralyze this evening.
Michael Ansah:
Massa! Massa!! Massa!!! I dey take God beg you, please dey your track inside quitely.
Quincy:
Judging from your statement, I don’t think you will be coming home tonight?
Michael Ansah:
You are very right with your statement. I will see you tomorrow God willing and please in the name of God, don’t call me again tonight because I have got some important minerals to drill throughout the night.
Quincy:
Ashawo!!! You don’t take after me and see if you will get a chance in heaven when the judgement day comes.
Michael Ansah:
Apuuuu, if I don’t know the northern part of Ghana, then I will take a trip to Zongo to have a fair idea of how the north is. See erh, I am busy here so delete yourself from my line and find something useful to do with your life. (cuts the call)
Quincy:
(laughs and speaks to himself) What a crazy guy I have as a friend, but hey I’m proud of the man he is turning out to be. He must bang all the ladies who comes his way after all life is too short and you only live once. (hears a knock on the door and goes to check)
Maabena Boaduwaa:
(with a straight face) You called me to come over, is anything the problem?
Quincy:
Ah, are you going to stand there and be asking questions? When did it become a crime for me to call my empress so we spend the night together?
Maabena Boaduwaa:
Spend the night together? What happens to Mike and where will he sleep this evening knowing you are staying in a single room apartment?
Quincy:
(plays smart and tells a lie) You see I told you Mike will move out soon, he is at the verge of doing that and tonight he is spending the night at his new place and putting things together over there.
Maabena Boaduwaa:
(hearing that news, pushes Quincy aside, throws his hand bag and the brown envelope which contained the money in one of the sofa’s and starts to undress herself) Follow me to the bathroom Mr man, tonight I will blow your mind with a high voltage that by the time I’m through with you, you will forget your name and when you were born.
Quincy:
(starts to also undress) I love it when you talk silly and saucy, equally that pump you have in between you legs, tonight I will also unscrew it and refix it for you. You know how I do my thing when you try to be stubborn.
Maabena Boaduwaa:
The end will justify who is the king of the bedmatics in this room. It’s going to be a long night and tomorrow is also my off day, hope you have food in this house.
Quincy:
No need to worry because you have been covered by insurance, I did some grocery shopping this evening when coming home.
Maabena Boaduwaa:
What a reunion it is going to be? Play me “KUPE by the late dancehall diva EBONY REIGNS” because tonight you will feel the electricity in me.
Back at Dufie’s House:
Julia:
(screams) Oh leave me alone you wicked man, haven’t I delivered your consignment to you? What do you want from me again?
Maame Dufie:
(rushes to Julia’s room holding a baseball stick in her hand and puts the light on to help her sister who was screaming for help) Hey! Leave my sister before I crush your head with this baseball stick! (realises there is no one in the room apart from her sister)
Julia:
(wakes up upon the light reflection in the room) Hey! what are you doing in my room with a baseball stick in your hand?
Maame Dufie:
You were screaming for help so I thought someone was attacking you. Now can you open up to me because you have been acting weird lately?
Julia:
Hey I am very okay, it’s just that sometimes the death of my mom gets to me and it brings memories to me. You know I feel bad that I couldn’t give her a grandchild as her only child before she died.
Maame Dufie:
That I understand but look at me and tell me if I look like a kindergarten student. When on this earth did giving birth become your greatest priority? See, I’m the only family you have now whether you like it or not. I know you when you are hiding something so you better speak up. Which consignment were you talking about delivering in your sleep talking?
Julia:
(gives a surprise face) Did I say such a thing?
Maame Dufie:
No, my late aunty said that. A problem shared is a problem half solved. If you don’t want to confide in the only family member you have then carry your cross alone. When you feel like opening up to me, you know where to find me. (walks out of the room leaving Julia to think)
Julia:
(talks to herself) Dufie is not like I’m self centered but I’m only taking you out from harm’s way. You are the only family I have and I can’t risk gambling with your life. The moment I let you in on this secret your life will be in danger. The better you don’t know, the greater you chances of living long. As you said, it’s my cross so I will carry it alone.
Maame Dufie:
Please yourself then but I won’t be held accountable to anything negative that happens to you. Sleep well and please in the name of God, don’t repeat your sleep talking again because the things you say scare me. (walks out of the room)
Julia:
(talking to herself) Or should I inform Dufie on the thing bothering my mind? No!!! Women can’t be trusted with such classified information. What if she goes around to blackmail me or snitch on me? Women can be jealous for some stupid reasons and do the unthinkable. Whatever the matter is, I will keep things to myself and die alone if the need be. Afterall, my mother who gave birth to me is even dead.
Back at the New Apartment:
On Phone:
Akua Yankey:
Kwaku Mike so why are you not answering my calls all this while?
Michael Ansah:
I’m very sorry mum. I didn’t know you were the caller.
Akua Yankey:
Are you listening to yourself? Do you have to know the caller before you answer the phone? Damn!!! This ain’t cool at all son.
Michael Ansah:
Hehehe, mum are you now slanging on me? Hey my mum has got her swag on. What’s up mum?
Akua Yankey:
I’m coming down on Saturday with your sister and I don’t want your father to know about it, we want to surprise him and any other person who is aware that we are out of the country so I want you to meet us at the airport so we go to the village together.
Michael Ansah:
Oh that is cool but how is my sister doing?
Akua Yankey:
She is awesomely well and better than ever. In fact our coming here has yielded positive results and I’m so happy we travelled to this place. I have a lot of surprises for you my son.
Michael Ansah:
Talking about surprises, I have a very big surprise for you and I will come to the airport with that surprise.
Akua Yankey:
Mmmm my son I’m suspecting you ooo, which lady are you coming to meet us with?
Michael Ansah:
Eeeeiiii mom, how did you get to know I was coming to the airport with a lady?
Akua Yankey:
Have you forgotten I was once like you? I hope she has good character and from a decent family?
Michael Ansah:
Mom, she is one in a million. I haven’t met her kind before and she is from a very well respected family. Mom you will fall in love with her the moment you set your eyes on her. I will leave you to pass your judgement when you see her personally.
Akua Yankey:
Hmmmm, my son is truly in love listening to how you are choosing your words. I’m proud of the man you are turning into. I know you have eyes for good things and that you won’t disappoint me. The flight will touch down by 9am Ghana time so please be there on time and if possible, go and rent a car that will convey us to the village.
Michael Ansah:
Don’t worry about that mom, I will do as you have said and I can’t wait to see you and my pretty sister at the Terminal 3 Arrival Hall.
Akua Yankey:
Okay. my son, I have to go now because I have a train to catch. There are some last-minute shopping I must do and don’t forget to come over with my prospective daughter-in-law to meet us at the airport. Bye for now. (call ends)
Next Morning
The Boss Mansion:
Ginola:
Good morning boss. Please how was your night?
The Boss:
Good morning my boy. I had one of the greatest night’s ever. The undercover job you did last night made my day, week and possibly my month. As I said to you earlier on, I will sort you out handsomely very soon. Have you seen my son this morning?
Ginola:
Boss, please he left the house early this morning for jogging. He told me he didn’t want to disturb you as you were still sleeping when he was leaving the house. He also said he will be back before breakfast is served.
The Boss:
Oh that is okay and what about Trouble and the guys I sent last night, they never brought any feedback to me?
Ginola:
Boss, please I haven’t set my eyes on him and the other guys. When I came back from meeting with that lady, none of them was in their rooms, I was assuming they have been given a day or some days off.
The Boss:
I can’t release almost all my security details in a night whiles we have an important mission to undertake any time soon.
Ginola:
Ah, then where could they be? This is unusual of Trouble to go out and not return. What could be the reason for him and the other guys not coming back here?
The Boss:
I’m much more perplexed than you and those fools didn’t find it convenient to call me and give me feedback on the assignment I gave them.
Stubborn:
(walks in with the boss phone in his hand) Boss please your phone has been ringing for some time now so I decided to bring it to you since you were far from it.
The Boss:
(on phone) Yeeeeeessssssss, may I know who is the line?
Caller:
Boss please it’s me Inspector Attipoe, there is trouble on the mountain ooo. I had to sneak out of the office to call you and even use a private line.
The Boss:
Attipoe can you talk in plain language, what fire are you talking about coming from the mountain?
Caller:
Boss, yesternite one the patrol teams brought in a guy and some dead bodies when they were doing some random operation. They saw blood from the trunk of the car they were driving and when they tried confronting them, they starting firing at my men injuring two of them and in return my men also released fire on them resulting in the death of your men with the exception of one guy who is now in the interrogation room.
The Boss:
Whaaaaat? What the heck? So what are we going to do now?
Caller:
Boss did you say we? This is a matter you have to act fast because I heard the Regional Commander has shown interest in the case and he is on his way to this place.
The Boss:
Now you listen and listen good youngman, we are in this together and if I go down, you go down with me as my informant. I can’t be paying you an outrageous amount of money and go down alone.
Caller:
Boss you can’t do this to me because I have kept my side of the bargain and have provided every requisite information that pops up so why do you want to drag me into the mud with you?
The Boss:
If you know what is good for you, make sure you clean the mess surrounding this case and if possible find ways and means to eliminate that fool before he spews out any nonsense whiles he remains in your custody.
Caller:
Boss you know what you ask of me cannot be granted. Your boy is under strict surveillance security detail which I don’t even have access to the place or him. Boss I can’t promise something that I can’t grant or do. Please I will entreat you to use your connections to get your boy out from this place. I will do my best to get the media faraway from this case so please do your best and let me also do the rest. Please the Regional Commander is in so let me rush to the charge office to welcome him.
The Boss:
Now you listen and listen good, I don’t care how you do it Attipoe, remember if I go down we go down together so if you know what is best for you, start finding ways and means to get that idiot eliminated before he says anything that will sink our boat. (cuts the call)
Ginola:
Boss is everything alright?
The Boss:
Trouble and the other guys met a police patrol team last night when I sent them to dispose the corpse of that foolish sheikh and his guards. An exchange of bullets took place resulting in the death of all your colleagues except one whom I dont know who exactly the person is. Also two police officers got injured and the Regional Commander has taken a personal interest in the case. If we don’t eliminate that fool now before he spills the beans we will be in very hot soup,. Now call Karl Simpson to come over right now. We need to join heads and find a solution to this looming danger. The recent stir-up in the police administration has affected me badly because all the corrupt officers I had in the police administration have been reshuffled and taken to a place they can’t assist again. Oh what a pity!!!
Later in the Day:
Karl Simpson:
Albert what is it that I’m hearing? Ginola called me to break the news to me but why did you kill the sheikh and his bodyguards?
The Boss:
Karl, that idiot came here threatening me and raising his voice at me in front of my boys. Out of anger I shot him and ordered for his guards to be eliminated so that I could cover my trace but those idiots bumped into a police patrol team and exchanged bullets with them. Karl these fools wouldn’t send me to my early grave ooo. But I blame that bitch who doublecrossed me. I swear with every misery I have been through I will make her go through that same ordeal.
Karl Simpson:
Well, we need to strategize on an underground mission where we will capture our rightful possession. Now that you are short of men, I will bring my boys on-board for this mission to go on successfully. About your boy in police custody, I have dispatched a snipper to get rid of him because l’m reliably informed that he is being transferred to the CID Headquarters for further interrogation as I’m talking to you right now. Don’t stress yourself because everything is under control.
The Boss:
(phone rings) Hello what is the situation right now?
Caller:
Boss I don’t know how to start my story but all I can say is that, your boy who was in our custody is no more a living soul. The Regional Commander upon arrival ordered for your boy to be transferred to the CID Headquarters and on the way going, an assassin or snipper shot him dead whiles we were in the car going. Thankfully he had not uttered a word, he kept saying he wanted to see his lawyer first.
The Boss:
(releases a big breath) Make sure you clean every loophole that will lead to my doorstep and for that car that they were riding in, set it on fire with a powerful explosive this evening. I will come and lodge a missing car complain tomorrow morning. Keep me updated with any new development. (ends call)
Karl Simpson:
I can see a massive change on your face my brother. Has the table changed into our favour?
The Boss:
Oh yes bro, your assassin has done a fantastic job. He has cleared the path for us to move easily and talking to you right now, I’m the happiest man on planet earth.
Karl Simpson:
Well I’m glad your worry and misery is now behind you. Right now, we need to focus on how to retrieve the diamonds from Julia or wherever it is now. I have designed a master plan that we will use in attacking Julia without any trace.
The Boss:
I trust your tactics bro. I know what you are capable of doing. I have also gotten information of that fool who delivered faeces to me and that idiot who took coverage and shots of us the night that I eliminated that bastard who thought he was faster than me.
Karl Simpson:
Oh wow, what an icing on the cake! Are they far from here?
The Boss:
Youngman, answer that question.
Ginola:
Boss, please they are not far from us and the sweet thing is that they are living under the same roof.
Karl Simpson:
Mmmmm, what a small world? Indeed, what goes around surely comes around. We will equally work on them and put them on the stage they deserve. Ginola I will get you some boys to go and pay them a surprise visit very soon.
Fast forward – Funeral Day:
Julia:
Mickey thanks very much for everything, I don’t know how to thank you enough.
Michael Ansah:
My dear, you owe me nothing. What I did was a way to show my gratitude to you for all the good things you have done for me.
Julia:
Ah don’t say that, what you and Quincy did earlier on today can’t be compared to anything on earth but hey have you eaten anything yet?
Maame Dufie:
Ah there you are Mike, your food has been served and where is Quincy?
Quincy:
I’m here, who is asking of me?
Maame Dufie:
I’m the one asking of you. Won’t you also come and eat? You have been taking pictures and going up and down since the wake last night and now that aunty has been buried too you are still stressing yourself.
Julia:
Dufie, please where is my boss and his entourage?
Maame Dufie:
They are in the tent room been attended to by the catering service. Mike I ordered them to get your food microwaved ánd by now I know it will be ready.
Michael Ansah:
(remembering who Julia’s boss is) Oh I’m very much okay as at now. We don’t usually eat when we are working because laziness creeps in when we fill the stomach. Quincy and I will eat when all your special guests take leave from this place.
Ginola:
(walks in to call Julia and sees Mike) Mmmm Julia, the boss wants to see you now. I think he wants us to seek permission so we leave.
Julia:
Please tell him I will be with him soon. Dufie please come for this envelope and my phone as I see my boss and his entourage off.
Ginola:
(gives Mike a vicious look before talking) I will convey your message to him and please don’t keep us waiting for long. (walks away as he rushes to give the information he gathered when he was sent to call Julia)
Maame Dufie:
Mike what have you done to that guy? The way he was looking at you was not pleasing at all.
Julia:
Oh so you also saw it Dufie. I thought I was the only one who saw the stern look that guy was giving to him. Now tell me what exactly happened the day you delivered the package to my boss. Whenever i decide to ask ask you about what transpired that day, it escapes me. How did my boss receive you that day?
Michael Ansah:
(as he is about to narrate his story his phone rang) Hey darling. Ah, you are already at the entrance? Wait for me at that place, I will join you soon. (cuts call)
Maame Dufie:
I guess this conversation will have to take place later.
Julia:
You have a very big point, that man over there doesn’t like to be kept waiting anytime he wants something. (walks out to see the boss and his men)
Meanwhile back in the village Opana is getting ready to execute his diabolic plans the dawn ahead of him so he positioned everything he will need for the evil mission well and set an alarm on his phone to wake him up on time.
Back at the Funeral Home:
Michael Ansah:
Hey baby, I wasn’t expecting you here as you told me you were not feeling too well.
Henrietta Barnor:
Yes, that is very true but I had a tip off call from one of my informants that one of my topmost criminal on my radar is in the neighbourhood and since I knew my boo is around, I came over to surprise him.
Michael Ansah:
What a sweet loving lady that I have as my woman. Let’s go inside so I introduce you to my friend and her cousin. We will use the backdoor since there are a lot of people around.
Julia:
Thank you very much boss and Mr Simpson for your support and presence. Without your help and encouragement, I don’t know how I would’ve handled things.
Karl Simpson:
C’mon girl, we are one big family and this is the time to show to you that you are never alone in this world.
The Boss:
My dear, Karl has said it all. You deserve every little thing that we have done for you and I want you to bring every debt you incure here to me next week. We have other things to do so we will take leave now and please don’t forget to do as I instructed you to do.
Julia:
Okay sir, I will do as you have requested. Please let me walk you to your car.
The Boss:
That won’t be necessary my dear, there are a lot of your guest who need your attention so please go and see them. We know our way out so don’t worry your pretty head.
Albert:
Please inform Maame Dufie that I will come pick her out tonight around 8pm for a movie at the mall so she should get ready.
Julia:
I will tell her exactly as you have said. Thanks for coming.
The Boss:
(at the car park) Ginola, my son has set the ball rolling, tonight get to work and leave no stone unturned. This mission must be compared to the movement of the snake on a cemented floor. There must be no traces or loop holes after everything is done. Do I make myself clear?
Ginola:
It’s very loud and crystal clear, boss.
The Boss:
Be there and be blowing big English to my hearing and go and make unpardonable mistakes.I will deny you like how Peter denied Jesus when the Romans captured him.
Karl Simpson:
Hey I never knew you know stories in the bible ooo. All the same, I will deploy my men to join forces with your men so we sanitize the airwaves but after this mission we must go on hibernation for a very long time.
The Boss:
Bro, I don’t need a soathsayer or mallam to tell me this. I thought about this long time ago and talking about stories in the bible, even mallams and fetish priest quote from the bible. If you care to know, I was baptised in the Presbyterian church but because a pastor’s son once snatched my girlfriend from me when I was poor, I decided to stop going to church. Herh, I nearly went for all my monetary contribution in the church. Honestly, poverty is a disease that one shouldn’t even wish for his or her enemy. Guys let’s go.
Henrietta Barnor:
(watching from above) Eagle 1, target on the move in a black tinted glass V8 with the registration number Alpha Whiskey 419 – 18 and the other V8 cars are Charlie Rainbow 9999 – 16 and Bravo Alpha 442 – 17. They are heading towards Atomic roundabout, keep a very close eye on him and make sure you don’t lose him this time around. My Intel tells me, he is up to something mischievous but this time around he can’t get away with it. Send me updates on any new development that takes place. Over and out Delta 1.
Michael Ansah:
Hey there you are, I was looking for you after I went to get a bottle of water for you. Who were you talking to?
Henrietta Barnor:
Oh, that was one of my colleagues back at work.
Michael Ansah:
Okay, come with me my dear. I need to introduce you to some friends. (drags Herty to the place his friends were)
Maame Dufie:
Ah, I have been looking for you all over the place. Your food is getting cold and I won’t bother microwaving it for you again.
Julia:
Tell him for me, they want to be pampered even as we are mourning.
Quincy:
We will descend on the meal very soon.
Michael Ansah:
No need to be bothered my dear. I have someone special to introduce to everyone here. Ladies I present to you the woman of my life, my bone of bone and flesh of flesh, my heartbeat, my sweetheart and my future wife, Henrietta.
Henrietta Barnor:
Hello ladies, it’s nice meeting you and sorry for your loss.
Julia:
(drops the drink in her hand and screams) Mickey!!! Hmmmm, no comments.
Maame Dufie:
I hope my ears are not deceiving me? Julia can you interpretate things to me over here. You told me Mike was your…..
Quincy:
(cuts in quickly as he sees pressure mounting up) Ladies, please where is the food you reserved for Mike and I? I’m so starving that I can swallow a whole whale and still not be satisfied.
Julia:
Whatever! (walks out from the room)
Fast forward:
Later in the Evening.
Regional Headquarters:
Commander Barnor:
Good evening my gallant men, we are gathered here to execute the final phase of the plans we have drawn so far. DSP Kotey will run us through tonight’s operation and mind you I dont want any casualties involved on the side of my men. Make sure everyone is in his or her body armour and armed to the teeth.
DSP Kotey:
Thank you sir for this opportunity. The Swat team led by me will move to the new estate where the former commisioner lives. We are reliably informed that a murder attack will take place this evening in one of the houses there. The Anti-Landguard Unit will head straight to the mansion of the drug mogul and that mission will be led by ASP Mawugbe. The Formed Police Unit will take the old estate where another tip off crime will take place, ASP Tanko will spearhead that mission.
Commander Barnor:
I like the way you have drawn the attacking mission. Personally I will like to be the one to put handcuffs on the hands of that criminal so I will go with ASP Mawugbe’s team. Now let’s go and brief the team members on how I want the mission to go. If it goes well, I will petition the IGP to promote every personnel on this operation posthumously.
Quincy‘s Hall:
Michael Ansah:
Jack am stepping out, Herty is taking me out for dinner and looking at the turn of events, I might not return to this place.
Quincy:
Oh God, you are indeed a miracle working God. See, Maabena just sent me a text that she is on her way coming here and she intends to spend the night with me. I was contemplating on how I was going to break that news to you.
Michael Ansah:
Well, your wish has been granted. I am likely to return tomorrow evening because I will be travelling to the village with my mom and little sister when they touch down at the airport.
Quincy:
Oh wooooow, this that they are coming back, I believe everything is okay. You should have informed me earlier so I go with you to meet them at the airport.
Michael Ansah:
Bro, sorry about that but the call only came in last night and since madam is coming over, you won’t get the time to go with me. All the same I will send your regards to them. I will call you to give updates on anything that happens and please take it easy on her when she comes.
Quincy:
Oh don’t be silly, has she ever come to complain to you that I don’t take it easy on her. My friend go with your palava (pushes Mike outside)
2 Hours Later:
Albert:
(makes a phone call) Dad I’m in front of Julia’s house and I’m about to take her cousin out so you can dispatch the boys now.
The Boss:
That is very good my son. When you guys leave her place then you notify me with a text message. Meanwhile, I will dispatch the boys right now.
Albert:
I will do as you have said. All the best of luck dad. (ends call)
Maame Dufie:
If you want to go out with me again then you have to be punctual and stick to your time.
Albert:
Please forgive me, it won’t happen again. The traffic jam in town was too much, I know I should have called to alert you on it but I was scared you will canceal our outing if I mentioned it to you on phone. It won’t happen again next time my dear.
Maame Dufie:
Next time? Do you think I will give you another chance again for crying out loud? I should be with my sister consoling her by now but here I am waiting for a man who is not gentleman enough to open his car door for me to enter his car.
Albert:
(gets down to open the door for Dufie) Oh please forgive my manners, your outstanding beauty has caused havoc in my medulla oblongata which did not make me think far.
Maame Dufie:
Then you can think madness, I don’t want to stay out for long so where are you taking me?
Albert:
We are going to new joint where big boys and girls come to unwind their stressed mind. The serenity and atmosphere alone will make you forget your worries and sorrows. I tried to convince your sister to come with us but she bluntly refused saying three is a crowd and secondly she wants to rest because of the day’s activities that went on. Let’s get going then my dear.
Maame Dufie:
Hmmmmmmm, Julia is always stubborn and wants things her way but I equally understand her as to the things that went on today.
Quincy Room:
Maabena Boaduwaa:
Tonight erh, if I don’t make you a cripple call me Kwabena instead of Abena. Yesterday, I had mercy on you because you had a coverage to take today but tonight you will see I never dey carry last.
Quincy:
Be there and be running your mouth like a commentator. When I pin you down on that bed you will know why am called Black Panther. Let me freshen up first, it’s going to be a very long night for both of us. (enters the bathroom)
A knock comes from the door shortly after Quincy enters the bathroom.
Maabena Boaduwaa:
(who is half naked now finds an easy wear to wear) Bae don’t tell me Mike will be spending the night in this room with us?
Quincy:
Don’t be ridiculous my dear. I already told you that we are spending the night together without any third part so what are you talking about?
Maabena Boaduwaa:
Then who could that person at the door be? Are you expecting anyone this evening?
Quincy:
The only person I was expecting was you but the person knocking could be one of the tenants so please check who is behind the door.
Maabena Boaduwaa:
Okay dear, I will be right back. (opens the door and the person behind pushes door which makes her to fall)
Stubborn:
Where the fuck is your stupid boyfriend who has been a thorn in the flesh?
Quincy:
(talking and walking out from the bathroom) Bae who was at the door? What was the person……. Who the hell are these guys and what do they want in my room?
Stubborn:
Shut up you swine! You thought you could hide from us forever erh. Today I will teach you a lesson that you will never forget when you come to world again, Killer tie him up with this rope.
Maabena Boaduwaa:
(stammering) Bab… baaaa… baby who are these guuuuuuuuys and wha..wha…what do theeeeeeey want from you?
Stubborn:
Sweetheart we want a lot of things from the two of you.
Quincy:
(trying to oppose what was going on) Hey take it easy man, if it’s money you want I have a little in my drawer, you can take anything you want and leave us alone. Don’t harm or touch anyone of us here.
Killer:
See mumu, you think say ebi your peanut wey we come search, if you make any sound I go commot all your teeth from your mouth. Swine (pull his pistol out)
Stubborn :
(looks at Maabena lustfully) Well! Well!! Well!!! You said we can take anything we want huh? Killer you and Capo should hang this fool to his ceiling fan as we take what we want. Now you Jezebel remove your dress and lie on the bed right now.
Maabena Boaduwaa:
(tries to be stubborn) I will do no such thing you scumbag, do you see me as a bitch or what?
Cobra:
(slaps Maabena with the back of his hand and tears her dress apart) Shut up you slut, who asked of your opinion here? You were given a direct order and not a request, now lie down and stop acting like a boss chick. (pushes Maabena unto the bed)
Quincy:
(pleading as he is standing at the edge of a table he has been placed on) Please don’t do that to my woman, she is undergoing some menstrual crumps down there. Please take whatever you want and leave her alone.
Stubborn:
(unbuckles his belt and jumps on top of Maabena) It’s been long I tasted something succulent and juicy like this.Ah, I love your body fragrance and I can’t wait to penetrate you right now.
At Dufie’s Home
Julia:
What the hell are you doing here and how did you manage to get into my room because all the doors to this house are locked?
Ginola:
Oh shut up, you doublecrossing snitch, you think you can rob the boss and live to enjoy that fortune? Now tell me where you hid those diamonds?
Julia:
What do you mean? Mike delivered those diamonds to the boss the day that I got to Ghana but why are you now asking me this question?
Ginola:
Save that questionnaire to the birds. The boss will chop your body into pieces and feed the vultures of your hometown with it. Cosmos handcuff her and let’s go, if she resist you know what to do to her.
Cosmos:
Okay boss, now madam please comply with me because I can be very rough and heartless. Don’t give me the opportunity to exhibit my cruelty to you.
Julia:
You guys won’t go scot free should anything happen to me. Your boss made his arrogant son lure my sister out so he could carry out his diabolic plans but I swear his plans will backfire and nemesis will catch up with him.
Ginola:
My friend tape her lips as you handcuff her. I don’t want to hear anything more from her that will make me rub the palms of my hands to her cheeks.
Cosmos:
(does as instructed) Boss I’m done and waiting for your next command.
Ginola:
(makes a phone call) Boss we have the package safe and without raising any alarm, we are coming over with her to the house.
The Boss:
Good work done, I and Karl are waiting for you but how about those fools?
Ginola:
I have no clue as at now because I warned Stubborn and his crew not to go on that mission with a phone. I didn’t want anyone to leave a trace at that place, I believe by now those idiots have been given first-class tickets to hell.
The Boss:
Good to hear that but I don’t want any long story at the end of the day. (call ends)
Ginola:
Cosmos let’s get going, your boss and my boss are waiting for us so lets be fast and get out of here.
Cosmos;
(pushes Julia outside) Madam you heard my boss, move your fat ass and stop walking like you are on the red carpet of an event.
As the came out of the house and pushed Julia into their car to drive off, a highlight was thrown into their car making Ginola and his crew to lose sight, the next thing they heard was an order from a megaphone instructing them to come out with their hands up.
ASP Kotey:
This is the police, you criminals have been surrounded. Come out with your hands up or where I can see them. Try anything funny and I will be the last person you see on this earth.
Cosmos:
(almost in tears) Boss what are we going to do? I’m too young to go to jail and I am the only child of my parent.
Ginola:
Will you shut up over there, I’m trying to figure out an escape plan and mind you, each one for himself, God for us all.
ASP Kotey:
I’m losing my patience here and by the count of five, if you criminals don’t step out of the car with your hands up, I will order my men to open fire on you. Five… Four… Three… Two… One, Sergeant Ofori shoot one of their headlights.
Cosmos:
(hearing the gunshot, jumps out of the car) Please don’t shoot, I’m ready to comply and do as you have instructed. I am not a criminal as you have tagged us, I only came to escort this lost but found friend to visit his crazy girlfriend.
ASP Kotey:
For those in the car, the next gunshot your hear will be registered in the car. For the very last time, come out from the car now.
Ginola:
(surrenders and steps out of the car with both hands in the air) I surrender, please don’t shoot at me.
ASP Kotey:
Inspector Twum, advance forward with four men and arrest those criminals, if they make any funny move you have my order to shoot to kill. Carry on with immediate force. Julia was rescued and also sent to the police station to get her statement written.
Back at Quincy’s End:
Stubborn:
Ahhhhhhhh!! This lady is so sweet. Killer, it’s your turn to come and enjoy. Hey, don’t spend the whole day on top of her because looking at your waist and how you are gnashing your teeth, you can kill the lady with your waist.
Maabena Boaduwaa:
(seeing the size of killer’s manhood decides to fight back) No, I won’t allow you to drill a manwhole in between my legs with that timber pointing at me, you monster.
Killer:
(slaps Maabena which sends her to the floor) Shut up and suffer you stupid fool, do you think you are in the position to negotiate over here. Now get up from the floor and lie on the bed you slut.
Maabena Boaduwaa:
(lays her hand on a jack knife and tries to attack killer) I will kill you, you smelling goat for laying your filthy hands on me.
Unfortunately killer overpowers Maabena, takes the knife from her and stabs her in her stomach. Quincy upon see his woman bleeding, forgot where he standing and he lost balance hanging on the ceiling fan with the rope tied to his neck. Stubborn and his guys seeing the heinous action that had taken place, they took to their heels and fled the room. When they got to the compound of house, they met the police team and immediately they were apprehended and handcuffed. Luckily for Quincy, where the fan was hanging on the ceiling, the place was weak so the ceiling fan caved in and he slam on the floor with the fan falling heavily on his right knee. Some police officers walked in and saw Quincy lying helplessly on the floor with his mouth taped and Maabena lying in a pool of blood dead, Quincy was rushed to the hospital and the homicide team were called in to commence investigation as his room was taped as a crime scene.
At the Mall:
Maame Dufie:
Albert thanks for the outing but I need to be on my way back home, I shouldn’t be out for long leaving my sister alone in that big house.
Albert:
Oh my dear, are you not enjoying my company? We just got to this part of the Mall and you want us to leave, see the live band is about start so let me order something so we enjoy the hi-life tunes they play.
Maame Dufie:
Albert please, don’t let me repeat myself so it Will look like I’m being rude or not appreciative. Kindly take me home because I no longer feel comfortable here.
Albert:
(checks his phone and see a message from his dad) “Package has been acquired and it’s on its way home. You can release the divergent now”
Maame Dufie:
Mr man, are you taking me home now or should I charter a taxi back home?
Albert:
(smiles) Okay my lady, let’s go home since your lovely mood is changing by the second.
The moment Albert and Dufie moved, Henrietta Barnor together with a lady and some men stopped them.
Henrietta Barnor:
Excuse me, Mr. Albert Selassie junior.
Albert:
Yessssss, how can I help you? I hope you are not here to create a scene because it’s over between me and you.
Henrietta Barnor:
(brings out an id card) Hahahaha, the butterfly thinks himself a bird. Well, let me make my mission here open and simple. I am Special Agent Henrietta Barnor from the Interpol and with me are Detectives from the Regional Police Headquarters, you are under arrest for the conspiracy of the kidnapping of one Julia Ohenewaa Dotse, murder of my cousin Simon Johnson, murder of Sheikh Nazir and his boys and dealing in Narcotic drugs.
Albert:
(face and mood changes) Do you know who I am and who my father is? How dare you embarrass me in front of my new found girlfriend. Do you know you fools can lose your jobs for the gross misconduct and embarrassment?
Henrietta Barnor:
Oh spare me that bullshit. That era of do you know who I am is over. If you were popular or powerful as you want to exhibit, I would have called your position directly when we got here. Anyone who goes about asking people do you know who I am, that person is a nobody and a toothless dog. You know what, as I’m talking to you right now, your father himself is being placed under arrest, today your cup of crime and illegal business is full and running over. Constable give me the handcuff so I personally handcuff him and get him out of here.
Maame Dufie:
(slaps Albert) You fool, so you brought me here so you can kidnap my sister without anyone suspecting you huh? And this slap is for calling me your girlfriend whiles I’m not, God will punish you and your entire generation for trying to exploit me. Oooooh, why didn’t I see this coming?
Henrietta Barnor:
Girlfriend no need to feel bad,I know what this cunning monster can do. Your sister is very safe and at the Police station writing her statement by now. Mike is standing at the corner over there. He will bring you to the station so you join your sister and also write your statement. Albert, you have the right to an attorney but mind you, anything you say here, will and can be used against you in the court of law. Please take him away from here.
At the Boss Mansion:
Karl Simpson:
It seems the boys have kept long in transporting Julia here.
The Boss:
You are right and surprisingly, Ginola is not answering his calls. I’m hoping they have not landed themselves in any trouble this time around.
Commander Barnor:
(speaks from behind) You would have been a great prophet if you towed that path.
The Boss:
How dare you barge into my house at this time of the day?
Commander Barnor:
Awwww please forgive my manners Selassie, this uniform makes me to enter, do and say things that even surprises the devil when I’m in it. Please forgive me, tolerate and accomodate me in your great palace for just 5minutes and I swear, I and my gallant men will be out of here for good.
The Boss:
Mr. Commander, you have still not told me your purpose of barging into my house at this ungodly hour, as you can see, I was in the middle of a business discussion before you rudely barged in.
Karl Simpson:
Calm down Albert, maybe be the officers have some important information for us.
Commander Barnor:
I like you Americans and how you handle matters. You are always calm and resolute even when the matter on the ground is very fragile. All the same, I will enlighten you as to our purpose of paying you a visit at this time of the day. Your elder brother, Nathan Simpson was arrested some days ago by the Interpol and the Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms Agency when he was trying to smuggle some drugs and Firearms into Mexico.
The Boss:
So what has that got to do with us? Nathan is a big man and a businessman on his own so if he has been busted with drugs and firearms, why should you bother us with that at this time of the day? Karl, you see why I was rude to him from the beginning?
Commander Barnor:
Mr Selassie, the interesting part of the matter is that they intercepted his laptop and when they went through it, they saw some business transactions he has done with both of you. So the Interpol petitioned us to come after you.
Karl Simpson:
Mr Commisioner, we are businessmen and my brother is equally a businessman who supplies merchandise so it could be some of the generators and solar panels he supplied us earlier this year or last year. In fact, the purpose of my being here is we were planning to contact him for some new consignments.
The Boss:
As you can see we were in the middle of a very important business discussion when you and your men barged into us, I will send my lawyers over tomorrow so that they come and rectify things. Please, I don’t want sound rude but that is the door, kindly shut it on your way out.
Commissioner Barnor:
(signals his men who were surprised as to what just went on but he turned back to the boss when they got to the door) Mmmm see I even forgot to tell you another important thing, since your television is a Samsung satellite television I will show you guys some videos and pictures. (connects his Samsung tablet via WiFi-Direct and starts to show the video Mike shot to them)
Karl Simpson:
(tries to play smart) So what has this video got to do with me? As you can see clearly, I was not in the video you showed.
The Boss:
(bites his lips before talking) Aaaaah Karl, I thought you were my partner and we were in this together so why the betrayal?
Commissioner Barnor:
Mr Simpson, do you remember the lady on the screen? You murdered her in cold blood when she refused to abort the pregnancy she was carrying for you. I have her phone and the threatening chats you had with her. Also before you sent your sniper to eliminate that guy called Trouble, he had already confessed to us and that confession was recorded visually.
The Boss:
(looking surprised) Karl, so all the time you were convincing me to dump Emefa, you had your auxiliary motives? You were sleeping with my Emefa behind my back and you called yourself my brother. And as if that was not enough, you impregnated her too.
104 GRAND FINALE
Interception
The Boss:
Oh Karl I thought all this while you were my brother from another mother, so as you were convincing me to dump Emefa you had your own auxiliary motives and you were also banging her behind me, oh what a shame. So you even went far to tell her to push the pregnancy on me too?
Karl Simpson:
My friend spare me that holy sermon, did you know how to preach or stay holy when you were sleeping with my 16year old twin daughters? If you thought I didn’t know then am sorry bro, I knew every move and style you did to them and in fact, I even have some of you and your arrogant son’s sex tapes with me. It’s a shame you and your son were both eating from the same pot, I must admit that you were good in bed but your son was a monster. My girls use to complain to me anytime your son paid their place a visit, honestly he is a real African man down there.
The Boss:
Oh Karl that was very cruel of you, so you and your daughters planned all this for me and my son and we stupidly fell prey to you antics, am so hurt and have never been betrayed like that before.
Commissioner Barnor:
Enough of the embarrassment you two monsters are heaping yourself with, if you closed your flap well this kind of embarrassment wouldn’t find its way to your doorsteps. If you will remember clearly, I told you when I first had an encounter with you that, no glory last forever on this earth and when my time comes am going to hit you like a crazy curricane. Yesterday was for you because you had those corrupt senior officers to shield you but unfortunately, today is mine and am going to make life very much unbearable for you. That boy Simon that you murdered was my wife’s nephew, the girl who dumped your son and got him beaten is my daughter who works with the Interpol, the law firm you are currently dealing with and planning for them to come to your aid, belongs to my wife. My friend, this time around I have beaten you to your own game behind your backyard and on this note, I will read this boldly to you. You are under arrest Albert Selassie, you have the right to remain silent and an attorney, anything you say here will and can be used against you in the court of law.
Scorpion:
(walks in talking) Boss, where from all the cars parked on the compound whiles the gate is widely opened? (sees the armed police officers and tries to flee)
ASP Mawugbe:
Try moving any further and I will personally buy you a wheelchair, arrest him and put him in the van.
Commissioner Barnor:
ASP Mawugbe, see to it that this house is locked down and call in the Narcotic department to come and conduct an immediate investigation in this house. Some say Karma is a bitch but I say, Karma is a snitch.
The Boss:
My son will work around the clock to get me bailed, I have some great lawyers who can secure my bail so am not bothered with these muscles you are flexing here.
Commissioner Barnor:
Oh I forgot to add to the fact that, your son is also currently in our custody. You, don’t worry, a reunion can take place at the cell I have specifically provided for you guys at the station. Your nemesis has caught up with you today, Constable take them away from my sight and anyone who messes up with you on the way, you know what to do, shoot to kill.
Fast Forward:
Opana’s Bedroom:
4 : 20 am
Opana wakes up and checks the clock on the wall and he snaps, herh so the alarm on this stupid phone refused to ring erh. My house witches I swear this time I have outsmarted you people, am only 20minutes late for this mission but come what may I will still execute my plans. He quickly dresses up in his all black apparel, takes the alleged bottle containing the portion of poison then he sneaks out into the dark to accomplish his mission. About 20minutes later he gets to the very spot he intended to pour the poison and he looks around to see if no one was at the place to fetch early morning water, when he was convinced that the coast was clear he poured the whole content into the water and he gave a burst of diabolic laughter. He covered the bottle and left the place immediately projecting figures in his head but shortly after he left the place he executed his evil plan, someone called him from behind.
Fred Yeboah:
Helloooooooo, I throw salute papa ninja.
Opana:
(tries to double his steps) What kind of gross disrespect is this? Now you young men of this village go about giving unapproved names to people and you think its funny, erh?
Fred Yeboah:
Papa ninja it will do you a lot of good if you stand there and listen to the nonsense I have to say before I raise an alarm for the entire village to hear of us or you want me to mention your name before you get to know that I know it’s you Opana the rough boy.
Opana:
(turns quickly to calm matters down) Oh young man, there is no need raising your voice. As you have been able to mention my trademark name then it means you know me very well, please calm down so we work things out as men. It’s only women who talk with their voices up, also where we are standing is not advisable since the villagers will start coming to this place to fetch water.
Fred Yeboah:
Your dress looks great on you so I would love for everyone to see you in this lovely costume sir. (comes close and starts to search Opana’s pocket)
Opana:
My brother it hasn’t got to this, you can’t be treating me like a class one child where you will be searching through my pocket like that.
Fred Yeboah:
Shut up old man, do you think I can be a brother to a murderer like you? If you could remember, some time back you caught me with your daughter in an uncompleted building and you took my measurements, later you took every valuable thing I had on me including my cigarette and chewing gum. The money on me that day was meant for my late uncle’s burial things, as if that was not enough you humiliated me when I came to your shop with my family head and I became the topic of discussion during the funeral, goodness the ugly memories are coming back to me this very moment. Because of you the corpse was not given an underwear to wear.
Opana:
(trying to feel remorseful) Son, two wrongs never makes a right, see erh my conscience fought me that night and I swear I searched for you everywhere in this village but no one knew where I could find you, I even thought you had relocated to the city my son. Forgive and forget because it was the work of the devil.
Fred Yeboah:
I’m Kwame Fred so stop addressing me as your son because you even insulted my late father that day, today your cup is full and I will also pay you back with your own coin because if I sneeze you will catch a cold. Whatever you took from me that day, I will take three times of it right here and now, if you want me to seal my mouth.
Opana:
I don’t remember the exact amount I took from you that day but please let’s get to my house so that we can transact business well enough.
Fred Yeboah:
If I’m going to move away from here, you must pay my moving fee and don’t expect anything less than two thousand Ghana cedis.
Opana:
Aaaaaba, how much do you villagers buy my coffin? Where do you expect me to get this outrageous amount from? Please say something reasonable so that we do business.
Fred Yeboah:
You think you are in the position to bargain or make demands huh? Wait till I raise an alarm and inform the villagers of the evil you have just executed.
Opana:
Mr Yeboah, please I am begging you with God and the mother of Jesus who will put to birth yesterday, Fred I swear with my two front teeth that am ready to comply with anything you come up with.
Fred Yeboah:
Okay if you want to negotiate I have heard you but first I will take a picture of you now, when you redeem yourself then I will delete it from my phone but first I am taking my moving fee, then we go to your house to resolve it.
Opana:
I have heard you, give me your phone number so I transfer your moving fee to you so that we move away from here. (Kwame Fred mentions his number and Opana sends him two thousand cedis)
Fred Yeboah:
(confirms truly if the money has been credited to his account) Oh yes, the money is in and I can see clearly that you mean business. Let’s get going before someone sees you because for me I will deny you like how Peter did to Jesus if someone catches you. (someone screams from behind as they move forward a bit)
Atongo:
So you think say you fit to relegate us to the bench then go for another person huh?
Opana:
(turns to see Atongo) You this ugly face again? Haven’t I warned you to stay clear from me, what do you want from me?
Skido:
We want our share of the cake, you can’t wet our appetite and give the food to someone else to consume. You either pay us to walk away from here or we will raise an alarm for the entire village to hear of us.
Opana:
See I have sold kenkey at night before so I fear not the lantern, you think this cheap blackmail will let me give you a pesewa or what? My friend go and find something to do with yourself you low lives.
Atongo:
Eeeeeiiiiii so now you get mouth dey talk back at us huh? If not for the fear of God like I for strangle your neck over here.
Fred Yeboah:
Guys this is the wrong time to do this, whatever issue you have I believe you can solve it later and amicably. This place is not conducive for this kind of argument.
Atongo:
Oh shut up there, he takes the job we go do come give you and you dey here dey come preach to us. If you no shut your mouth for there, I go take the something I dey hold to wack your foolish face give you.
Skido:
(looks at Kwame Fred carefully before talking) Oh so after you came to us to beat this guy, you have today passed behind us to join forces with him. Human beings can never be trusted on this earth.
Fred Yeboah:
Oh so it’s you guys who attacked me the other time? You see we are in a small world.
Atongo:
You make lucky say we nor kill you that day sef.
Fred Yeboah:
Kill me? What am I even doing here, let me get out of this place because I have no business here.
Opana:
My brother oh are you leaving me here? I thought we were going to my house to finalise on things?
Fred Yeboah:
Thunder fire you over there you wicked old man, there was never anything like we because I don’t know how you came about with your evil intentions and me coming closer to you was to take back my money that you selfishly took from me some time ago, what I got today is enough for me so I leave you in the able hands of your partners in crime. (walks away)
Skido:
See erh, we have been doing this bad business for long but we don’t kill, we can’t sit behind and watch you to kill innocent people just to enrich your greedy pocket. We find you guilty and hereby wish to march you to the palace of the chief for the final judgement. Atongo grab him and let’s take him to Nana and his council of elders.
Atongo:
With pleasure I go hold him like the way the policeman held me last time.
Opana:
Guys doing this won’t help any of us, let’s talk about this like matured men. How much will you take so that we close this chapter at once.
Skido:
We won’t sit and watch you wipe the entire village away with your greed, if I decide to dance to you tune and take your money and keep quite, how will I take the news of the death of my wife and child who drink from this river. You are a wicked man and God will punish you severely.
Skido:
(sees a woman coming their way with a bucket to fetch water) Madam this evil man here has poisoned the water so run home and tell others not to come here and fetch water until professionals come to check the water and confirm it’s safe to drink.
Woman:
(screams as she runs home) Abomination ooooo, our river has been poisoned by the coffin maker oooo. No one should go and fetch water from the river this morning if you love your life and that of you family.
Later On.
Village Chief’s Palace:
Okyeame Amoah:
Nana please your people are here, please talk to us.
Nana Odotobri:
My people and wise elders, I greet you all this morning. I summoned all of you here to my palace because I am extremely sad this morning and I want all of you to be my witness to the sad news I was told some moments ago by this young men. The news is too much for me to comprehend so I deem it needful for everyone to come and listen to what will transpire here in my palace. Young men do us to honour and repeat to everyone here what you told me earlier on.
Okyeame Amoah:
Young men, you heard what Nana said, so over to you.
Skido:
Thank you Nana, may you live long, may your reign be successful forever and may God continue to shower you with the wisdom he gave to king Solomon. Nana this man standing next to me is wicked and should not be allowed to live amongst men. He is ill-mannered, selfcentered, selfish, greedy and evil, if not for the fear of God I will say he is behind every calamity that befalls this very village. Sometime ago, he came to us to ask for our assitance to do some job and listening to the details we declined because we knew the purpose of that job was going to be diabolic. We tried to talk him out of it but he was bent on doing it so we decided to monitor his movement so that when he tries to execute his evil plans, we will catch him in the act. At dawn this morning this monster unleashed his plans but we were not fast to catch him, before we got closer to him he had executed his plan already.
Opanyin Danso:
Young man, you have been talking at length and I have been listening to you carefully, you have been talking all this while calling the man next to your names but haven’t said anything constructive. What you have only succeeded in doing is to paint the man black but you haven’t said anything objective, it looks like you have caught a bird and secretly and successfully plugged all its feathers and you are coming to ask us what bird it is?
Opanyin Tuffour:
You have said my mind Danso, this young man has only been beating about the busy without saying anything to us. If this is the reason why you made Nana to summon us here, then am going to be very angry with you.
Obaapanyin Animwah:
I totally disagree with you Danso and Tuffour, the young man has been speaking in parables and he expects us as elders to know where he is coming from and going. You two are farmers and I believe you always pray to God through our gods to give you rain when you plant just for you to get a great harvest. Has it ever occurred to you the kind of prayers a coffin maker will say to God? If he wants to prove his innocence to me and everyone here then, he has to swear before our oracle. If he survives after that, I will personally apologise to him for not believing his innocence from the start.
Opanyin Kusi:
Bham!!! Ah, obaapanyin you have proven to me how wise you are and am not surprise you are the only female who represents the women in this palace. If Agya Ansah wants to prove innocent here, one thing and I mean only that thing can prove to us that he is innocent and that is for him to swear before our great oracle “pataangye”. After 5minutes of that, if he is still alive then he has been vindicated.
Okyeame Amoah:
Opanyin Ansah you have heard our wise elders who represent our various clans, are you ready to swear before “pataangye” the instant god of justice?
Opana:
(fearsomely rejects the offer) Nana and my wise elders, some of you here know me to be a strong Presbyterian in this village. My bible and christian believe kicks against me swearing and not only that, bowing or going before another god to worship or do anything there. Am sorry your highness, for this offer alone I beg of you to make it pass me by. (this statement throws the palace into a disarray mood)
Meanwhile Mike and Henrietta had gone to meet his mom and sister at the airport and on their way to the village all the radio stations were talking about one thing.
Akua Yankey:
Ghana is really hot but why is every radio station talking about the same issue.
Driver:
Madam, I learnt the police together with the Interpol has arrested one of the world’s most wanted drug lord and his accomplices just in one night. Honestly this shake up in the Ghana Police Service has brought massive changes into the system, I heard the new appointed Regional Commander is an action and no nonsense man. Since he came, the MTTD police officers who use to disturb and take money from us on the road have stopped and when you report a case, immediately you see the police acting to it. Infact a new air is blowing in the city and everyone is happy and secured when you step out at night.
Akua Yankey:
Oh, that is good news, you know it’s the same thing back in the States. The police are very effective and friendly, it’s good the new Regional Commander has inculcated that into his men and I hope other commanders will do same. May God bless that man and his men and their families.
Michael Ansah:
Mummy, now you are sounding like an American citizen.
Akua Yankey:
I know right but my son you really have taste for quality things, you are the type that is sent to the market because you will come back with something nice. My dear I have endorsed and approved of your relationship with my son, now you are my daughter and I can’t wait for the day my son will walk you down the aisle. I think you are the only thing God did on the seventh day but the bible was silent on that because the writers didn’t want any hatred or jealousy to take place on earth.
Henrietta Barnor: (feeling shy) Mummy am flattered with your praises, I now see where Mike took his words from.
Akua Yankey:
You have not seen or heard anything yet, wait till you meet his dad, my husband. You will rather fall for him when you get to meet him but that man is only meant for me. (releases big laughter)
Driver:
Boss are you okay? I can see you are not yourself, should I increase the air condition power?
Michael Ansah:
(feeling uncomfortable and slight strangling on his neck but pretends all is well) Oh, that will be great as my mom was even saying Ghana is hot. Please if you see any stopover or restaurant on the way please stop so that I can ease myself. It seems the drink I took earlier on didn’t go well for my stomach.
Akua Yankey:
Son are you alright? Should we stop at any pharmacy we spot on our way?
Michael Ansah:
You worry too much mummy, I will be alright. Your son is now a man so certain things shouldn’t catch your attention.
Akua Yankey:
Young man listen, no matter how tall you are, you are still my baby and you will remain my baby all your life.
Bernice Ansah:
Sweet mother for life.
Back at the Village:
The Chief’s Palace:
Nana Hemaa:
So, you made Nana summon us so you can make fun of the entire village, erh? This whole thing doesn’t make sense to me, is this witch-hunting or it is for real? The person in front of us is someone I have known for long and he is an honourable person so why are you tarnishing his image? Who is paying you to drag the man’s name into the mud?
Nana Odotobri:
Young man, as you can see, my elders are eager to know the matter on ground. Beating about the bush won’t help so hit directly on the nail so we all gathered here will know what you said you saw this morning.
Skido:
Nana, wise elders of this peaceful village and the noble citizen of this village, I and my friend here saw this man pouring poison into the river that we all drink from. (villagers start murmuring amongst each other).
Eno Bruwaa:
So this wicked man will never change from his evil ways? Today God has thrown his light on him, Nana must banish him from this village because the more he stays in our midst, the more he corrupts our youth.
Awo Mansa:
My sister don’t be quick to judge, how sure are you about what the young man just said? Let’s wait and listen to the man’s version.
Kojo Bruce:
God has punished you today, I mistakenly splashed water on him with my brother’s bicycle one Sunday morning when he was going to church, can you imagine he seized the bicycle and sent it home. I and my family members pleaded with him several times but he never gave us a listening ear.
Kofi Yesu:
Is he that wicked? I thought he was a nice man.
Kojo Bruce:
Guy that adjective is nowhere in his dictionary. He is as wicked as the word wicked, you when we see any of his apprentices, we will ask them how he treats them at his workshop.
Kofi Yesu:
Me I don’t believe you people, this man looks too honourable to me so you guys should stop dragging him to the mud.
Okyeame Amoah:
Let there be silence, Nana wants to talk.
Nana Odotobri:
My people and elders, one of the young men who brought our celebrated coffin maker in this peaceful village has spoken. As you know, we don’t judge a matter or situation listening to one side of the story, Mr Ansah, I know you are a noble, hardworking and respected man in our village, you have heard the allegations the young men have tagged you with, what is your take on the matter?
Opana:
(plays smart and starts to cry) Your highness, may you live long, may anyone who wants your downfall, live to see your greatness and may all your enemies fall and die in your presence. As you rightly said, am a hardworking, noble and well respected by the young and old, am equally law-abiding. My lord, there is a saying that when the lazy man sees his fellow man excelling with his hard work, hatred and envy step in. Your majesty and your wise elders, please oooo, if I may ask, why would I poison the source of the drinking water of this village? Your majesty, do you think I can be so mean and wicked that I will do such a thing? As a father and a family man, what will be my reason for doing that and what do I stand to gain? (takes a handkerchief from his pocket and wipes his tears then looks up and shakes his head).
Atongo:
Liar! Liar!! Liar!!! You dey cry crocodile cry, you see say no tears dey commot for your eyes. Today your cup make full and your punishment dey come, you go see for here you wicked and yeye man. (villagers start to laugh)
Okyeame Amoah:
(screams at the villagers) Order in the palace, this place is not the cinema or market square, Nana is about to speak so all the talking and laughter should seize.
Nana Odotobri:
My elders and good people of this peaceful village, we have all heard from both sides. I and my wise elders will take some time off and ponder on the verdict of this matter, meanwhile the chief guard of this palace and Okyeame Amoah will go to the river, observe the river banks and see if some of the fishes are dead and also fetch some the water and bring it here. My elders and Nana Hemaa please meet me in my inner chamber.
Okyeame Amoah:
Nana has spoken and he will be right back with his judgement. Chief guard, you and three other guards should follow me to the river.
Mike, his mother, sister and Henrietta got to the village safely but realised the village was quiet and the streets desolated. They drove to a nearby shop to buy bottled water and that is where the shop owner told them the reason for the desolation.
Shop Owner:
Eeeeiiii Auntie Akua the American burger, who in this village called to inform you of what has happened to your husband?
Akua Yankey:
(looking worried) No one in this village has called to inform me of anything. How did you know I was in America and what is wrong with my husband?
Shop Owner:
Oh Auntie Akua paaaa, who in this village doesn’t know you and your daughter travelled to America. It’s not like I am a gossip or a rumour monger and neither am I a carrier of doom but the truth is that, your husband was caught this morning by some guys pouring poison into the river most of the villagers drink from.
Michael Ansah:
Madam are you too sure of this allegation because my father is a respected man in this village and secondly we have a pipe in our house which flows 24/7 so in the first place what will he go to the river to do and why will he pour poison into the river?
Shop Owner:
Am I your father’s Spokesperson or Public Relations Officer? Your father will be the only one who has answers to your big question so when you meet him then you throw those questions to him.
Henrietta Barnor:
(whispers to Mike) Babe say no more, the lady is rude and I wouldn’t love to see you exchange words with her.
Akua Yankey:
Adjoa Nyamekye please where was my husband taken or where is he right now?
Shop Owner:
He was taken to the chief’s palace where he is been interrogated by Nana and his elders. Am afraid he might be banished or handed over to the police for further actions to be taken.
Michael Ansah:
Hold it there prophetess of doom, one more word from you and I will descend heavily on you.
Akua Yankey:
Is okay Kwaku Mike, Adjoa Nyamekye it was nice seeing you and thank you for the first-hand information. (they rushed back to the car and directed the driver to the palace)
Back at the Palace:
Nana Odotobri:
Okyeame Amoah, please tell us what you observed or saw when you got to the river bank.
Okyeame Amoah:
Nana when we got to the river, the place was calm and deserted as everyone is afraid to go and fetch water from the river. I didn’t see any fish floating in the water or at the banks and neither did I see any animal lying down on the floor dead after drinking from the river. I believe that will be the same thing the guards I went with have to say. (the guards nod their heads to confirm what okyeame Amoah said)
Nana Odotobri:
Okay so did you fetch the water I instructed you to do from the river?
Chief Guard:
Your majesty I did as you instructed, in my hand is the bottle that contains the river water.
Nana Odotobri:
Good, Opanyin Ansah you were asked by one of my elders to swear to the oracle of this village but you declined saying you are a Christian and it’s against you believe to swear to any man-made god and I respect that. Now we are left with two options but the second option will come in when you refuse to comply with the first option. To prove your innocence you will have to drink the water that was fetched from the river, after that I and my wise elders will be convinced that what the young men said are mere allegations towards you and they will pay dearly for tarnishing you image.
Opana:
(sweating as he knows what is at stake) Nana, this one too is a herculean request. The reason why I connected a pipe into my house is that anytime I drink from the river directly, I encounter some stomach problems so drinking this water on an empty stomach will be a problem to me. (his family walks in and the villagers start to murmur amongst themselves)
Okyeame Amoah:
(shouts to bring order back into the palace) Silence over here everyone, have you people forgotten where you are? Silence before I use someone as a scapegoat.
Obaapanyin Animwah:
Ah didn’t I say this man is up to something mischievous? Nana, I believe it’s time to exercise your veto powers because this man can’t outsmart us with his cheap excuses.
Opanyin Tuffour:
Agya Ansah, this one dierrr I won’t agree with you on that even though am not obliged to openly show my support for you. I know before you connected the pipe into your house, you used to drink from the river because I met you countless times at the river during you hay days. Do as you have been instructed and even if you get complications in your stomach, your innocence will be proven.
Michael Ansah:
(approaches his dad and whispers to him) Papa are you innocent of the allegation you have been labelled with? As your only son, you can confide in me so I come up with something.
Opana:
(looks at his son sternly) Sorry son but some things are for men only, tell your mom that I love her and will always do. Your majesty, I am ready to drink the water.
Opanyin Danso:
I said it and I maintain the fact that the man standing there is innocent of the allegation he has been tagged with.
Obaapanyin Animwah:
Whether he is innocent or not, the end will justify the means. All we are here for is to witness the truth, I personally don’t have any problem with Agya Ansah, it’s only the truth we want.
Okyeame Amoah:
(hands over a calabash of water to Opana) Opanyin Ansah, in my hand is the water we fetched from the river a while ago. Since you don’t want to swear to the oracle on the allegation this men have labelled you with, it’s prudent for you to drink the water so we will be convinced that indeed and truly you are innocent. Please drink the water now so we can be sure of ourselves.
Opana:
(takes the calabash with his hands shaking whiles he sweats profusely) Nana I have already told you that if I drink this water, I get complications but am been forced to drink it. Hmmmm, if anything happens to me, please bear in mind that my blood will be on your head and my ghost will hunt some of you for leading me to my early grave.
Obaapanyin Animwah:
Some of us have been drinking from the river since birth, even when some greedy galamsey miners polluted the water we were still drinking from the river and nothing happened to anyone. The president stopped those people about a year ago so be rest assured the water is safe for consumption only if you have done nothing wrong to it.
Opana:
(summons courage and gulps all the content of the calabash into his mouth and swallows it) You two criminals, you think you can bring me down huh? Nana this fools came to me for help some time ago and I turned them down so they want to tarnish my image. They were the people who burnt my shop and the threatened to kill me should I report the matter to anyone, as they saw I was still on my feet they have decided to blackmail me in addition. Your majesty these thieves are behind the missing of your cattles and Obaapanyin your daughter who got raped was through the hands of this ugly entity standing here. Opanyin Danso and Okyeame Amoah, whiles you are busy in your farms, this idiot standing next to that ugly guy has been servicing your young wives. For you Opanyin Tuffour if I say yours, you might pass out and die so I will keep my mouth shut and take leave from here since I have drunk your water, my pretty wife and entire family just returned from a long journey to see me. Your highness, elders and villagers gathered here, with permission am taking leave from here. (goes to his family and signals them to leave)
Skido:
Your majesty I swear all he said are lies, we know nothing about the things he just said, he only wants to implicate us as we revealed his evil plans.
Obaapanyin Animwah:
One more word from you and I will smash your head with the walking stick am holding in my hands, you successfully deflowered my daughter whom I was grooming for Nana’s first son. The gods of this village will punish you and your entire generation. “Aboa bi ba”
Opanyin Danso:
So, you idiot is the reason why my young wife has refused to be sleeping with me for the past 3months. She will leave my house to her stupid parent the very moment I get home, what nonsense.
Okyeame Amoah:
Herh so I bought graphic and you have been the one reading it all this while, Nana can you believe ever since I married that ashawo 5months ago, she has only given me the opportunity to visit her golden palace twice and even with that I had to use force, she always gives an excuse anytime I visit her in her hut and it’s only last week that she gave it to me for the second time and just this morning she told me her menses hasn’t come.
Eno Bruwaa:
(whispers to those standing close to her) It also serves you two right, looking at your old ages you went in for girls who are the same age as your daughters. What were you expecting?
Nana Odotobri:
So you criminals were responsible for the theft of my cattle I intended to use for my 25th anniversary of ascending this throne. In the court of law, we interpret the law but in the palace we display authority and power, if not for the sake of human rights and the constitution of this country, I would have ordered for you to be beheaded but nonetheless I hereby ostracize you from this village. Guards seize them and lock them up, tonight after the chief priest finishes a purification rite, they will be shown the exit of this peaceful village, now take them out of my sight.
In the Car:
Opana:
Kwaku Mike, please direct the driver to the hospital in the next village before something happens to me in this car.
Michael Ansah:
Papa please tell me the truth, did you poison the river?
Opana:
My friend will you do as I say before I shift part of my rage unto you.
Back in the City:
Regional Commander’s Office:
Commander Barnor:
Julia with the investigations my boys conducted, it came up that, you personally you are not clean but because your life was threatened that is why I have asked them to burn your file. I will advise you to stay out from trouble and if possible travel outside the country. On the court day let your cousin and lawyer come and represent you, what your lawyer will say to defend you is that you no longer feel secure in this country and that your life is not safe over here.
Julia:
Thank you very much, sir, I will do as you have said.
Commander Barnor:
Very well then but do well to keep our small conversation a secret between us. I don’t know why am doing that favour to you but should a third party hear this, I will bluntly deny ever having this conversation with you. Now let’s go and meet the others in the CID office.
Quincy:
Sir please how soon can I move back to my apartment? Your man here said my place is now a crime scene and investigations are still been conducted over there.
Commander Barnor:
The officer was very right my boy, I can’t give you a specific time but it won’t take long. Have you been to the hospital for your neck to be examined?
Quincy:
Yes please, am just coming from that place. I was given some ointment and medicine to take and I went to shoot an X-ray which will be ready on Monday.
Commander Barnor:
Good and you guys shouldn’t forget that those criminals will be arraigned before the court on Monday. So all of you should get in touch with your lawyers, I will see you on Monday. (walks away)
Julia:
Quincy since your place is a crime scene now, you can move in with us especially now that we a living in fear inside that house.
Maame Dufie:
Yes she is very right, I feel scared living in the house as we are women and vulnerable.
At the Village Hospital:
Opana:
Nurse can you please admit me and put a drip on me as your doctor comes in to examine me?
Nurse:
That is not how we do things over here sir. We don’t just admit patients and then straightforward we infuse drip into their system.
Opana:
(raising his voice) Young woman am talking about a matter of life and death. As am standing here, I can feel am half dead and am playing an extra time of my life right this moment.
Doctor:
(walks in) This place is a no noise zone so who are those who have turned this place into a market square? What is the noise here all about?
Opana:
Doc it is good you are here, I want your nurse to admit me and put a drip on me but she is doing long. Please I want you to order her to immediately do the needful before the unexpected happens to me.
Doctor:
(recognises Opana) Please can everyone excuse us right now? I need to have a brief discussion with this man before I commence anything medical. You can wait outside the ward and come in when we are done. (everyone walks out leaving the doctor and Opana)
Opana:
Doc please time is my greatest enemy now so please start with the treatment, whether you will administer some injections or drugs to me, am willing to comply. Settling my medical expenses wouldn’t be a big deal at all, saving my life is the most important thing now because I don’t want to die anytime soon. Life is very sweet and this the time for me to enjoy my labour.
Doctor:
Oh, I see, so you fear death huh?
Opana:
Ah doc paaa, who in his or her right senses will see death coming and he or she will go and meet or hug death? Even Jesus Christ who was God’s beloved son and resurrected people from the dead was afraid when his time of death was near, during his eleventh-hour prayer, he pleaded with God for death to pass him by if possible so how much more me, a common coffin maker.
Doctor:
I see, so you fear death that much and you came here to offer me money or should I say bribe to start killing my patients? Don’t worry I have made up my mind to comply with your request starting with you right now. Please lie down on the bed so I inject you with some poisonous injection.
Opana:
(sweating and feeling the heat) Oh doc so what will you gain when I die finally, I realised I was very wrong the moment you sent me out of your office. That is why I didn’t come back for any protest on my money that you confiscated, see erh I did an intercessory prayer for myself for a whole week asking for forgiveness from God. The bible say God is faithful and just, if you confess your sins and repent from it. I am a repented soul now and doctor if you don’t forgive me for my past evil intentions, I will be dead in some few minutes time. I drunk something which I got to know later that it contains poisonous substance in it, please save my life so that I can also testify the goodness of the Lord.
Doctor:
Because you have shown some signs of remorsefulness I will consider you and treat you, I pray am able to flush the poison from your system because I don’t know how powerful the poison is. I will first give you some anti-poison injections to sublime the poison then take some samples of your blood and urine to the lab to run some test. After that, I will know what step to take.
Opana:
Doc please do anything and everything humanly possible to save my life, I don’t want to die any time soon.
Doctor:
Well, I’m not God so let’s hope and pray. Ermmm nurse come in right now for us to commence treatment this man.
Fast Forward:
The doctor takes samples of Opana’s urine and blood to the lab to see the kind of poison in his system but after running a lot of tests, he sees no substance of poison in Opana’s bloodstream or system. He comes back to inform Opana about his findings and discharge him but Opana saw it very difficult to accept the doctor’s statement. To make Opana feel okay, the doctor prescribed some drugs for Opana to go and get on his way home. His bill was also given to him to settle, later they all moved home and getting home the family engaged in merry making after the purpose of coming back to the village was announced. Opana gladly accepted Henrietta and praised his son for coming home with an educated, soft spoken, gorgeous and elegant lady. He gave his blessings and in no time Akua Yankey served them with food at the dining table, Opana ate the food as if his life depended on it. Later Mike and Henrietta asked for permission to go back to the city, Opana went into his room to shower and that was when he realised he took a wrong bottle to the river that morning. The bottle he took to the river contained water and salt solution which he uses to gargle his mouth before brushing his teeth, he gave a big breathe, did a cross sign on his face then immediately took the poison to the toilet and poured everything into it and threw the bottle away.
Mike and Henrietta got to Accra and decided to check on Quincy as to how he was fairing after he was hung on the fan like a slaughtered animal in the abattoir.
Julia’s End:
Henrietta Barnor:
Baby I need to make a private call so I will join you guys when am done.
Michael Ansah:
Okay my heartbeat, please be careful out there because some of those bad guys might still be out there. (walks into the house)
Julia:
(attacks Mike as he enters) And what is this Judas doing here this evening?
Maame Dufie:
Julia please take it easy on him, give him the opportunity for him to explain himself. Mike thanks for passing by.
Julia:
Explain what? What has he got to say after he made a fool out of me? All this I thought he was madly in love with me, not knowing he was making a fool out of me.
Michael Ansah:
My dear, I understand your anger and even if you want to pounce on me and tear me apart, you have a case. Julia, I have always liked you but I love someone else, this wasn’t how I wanted things to happen between us, you have been a strong pillar behind me for a very long time and doing you wrong is something that has never crossed my mind. Please find a place in your heart and forgive me, I have erred and forgiving me is the only thing that can bring peace and harmony between us. Just take and accept me as your brother and I promise never to make you regret ever doing so.
Julia:
Are you listening to the nonsense coming out from your mouth? I should take you as my brother, is it as my elder brother or younger brother? If you have forgotten, my late mother gave birth to only me so don’t say anything that will call for my anger this evening. You know what, get out of my house before I do something nasty to you.
Maame Dufie:
Julia, please calm down, it hasn’t gotten to this. At least listen to what Mike has to say, I believe he came here for a reason.
Michael Ansah:
Thank you very much Dufie, I am aware Quincy is squatting with you ladies for the meantime as his place remains a crime scene. I came to check on how he is fairing and also apologise to your sister for her to know I value our friendship and am very grateful for everything she did for me.
Julia:
Now that you have registered you reason for coming here this evening, you know the way to the door.
Quincy:
(joins them from his room) Hey fucking man, I didn’t know you meant your words when you said you will come here in the evening to check up on me. Hope your journey to the village was good?
Michael Ansah:
It was a hell of a time and I will give you the details later. I can see you are getting better by the minute so I will take leave now and check on you later when the atmosphere is conducive. (walks to the door)
Julia:
Before you get out of this place Mike, did you deliver the package I gave to you to my boss? He is accusing me of double-crossing him and not delivering his consignment to him.
Michael Ansah:
Quincy should be the one to answer that question, I had a running stomach that morning when I was to deliver the package so I handed it over to him so he delivered it on your behalf. If there are any questions you can direct it to him.
Julia:
Quincy what happened to the package Mike gave you to deliver to my boss? Did you hand it over to him or not?
Quincy:
(stands for a while as he cast his mind back on what he heard the guys said when they invaded his place) Oh no, I think I changed the package with that of Mike’s faeces and submitted the package to the hospital lab.
Henrietta Barnor:
(walks in) Hi guys, I hope am not interrupting anything here?
Maame Dufie:
(quickly replies) Not at all my dear, let me take this opportunity to thank you for what you did the other time. If not for your timely intervention I don’t know what might happen to me.
Henrietta Barnor:
Don’t mention, I was only doing my job. I was eavesdropping on your conversation and I have a plan to retrieve your missing package but first, I want to know what that package contained. (everyone turns his eyes on Julia)
Julia:
Why is everyone looking at me like I’m an alien? Okay I will be honest here, the package contained the world’s most expensive diamonds, I mean the black diamond. If you can help us to retrieve it, I will divide it into equal parts for everyone in this room to get his or her share. Now can you tell us your plan?
Henrietta Barnor:
I will handcuff Quincy to the hospital lab and threaten the lab technicians to get me the package Quincy came to deliver sometime back.
They all agreed to Henrietta’s plan and the next day, as planned the met at the hospital and Henrietta put her plan to action while the others waited in the car.
At the Hospital Laboratory:
Henrietta Barnor:
Good day gentlemen and lady, I am Special Agent Barnor from the Interpol. This young man in handcuffs came to deliver a container which contains some expensive diamonds in it. Am here with him to retrieve it and would love for you to cooperate fully with me.
Chief Lab Technician:
Excuse me, madam, please when exactly was the said container brought here so I check through our records books.
Henrietta Barnor:
You heard the man so answer him.
Quincy:
I brought the container here about a month ago.
Chief Lab Technician:
I was on leave then but I believe going through our records we will get to the root of the matter. Young man what is your name and what was the appointment you had here about?
Quincy:
My name is Quincy Ofori but my name is not in your records book, I only came to deliver the container on behalf of my friend called Michael Ansah who had developed some severe running stomach and I mistakenly exchanged the container which had the diamonds in it. Actually, I handed the container over to my late girlfriend Maabena Boaduwaa who was a nurse over here to deliver it for me.
Lab Technician:
Oh, I remember now, she placed the container at the corner of the drawer over there and left without saying anything. I nearly threw that container away yesterday when we were clean this place.
Chief Lab Technician:
I now remember your face gentleman but what got you involved in such a mess. I know you to be a very responsible person so where from this Interpol problem?
Henrietta Barnor:
I’m sorry this is a highly classified matter that can’t be discussed outside. Young man please can you get me the container because time is our greatest enemy here right now.
Lab Technician:
(moves to a locker and brings a container out) Madam please this is the container Maabena brought the other time, please check if everything is intact.
Henrietta Barnor:
(opens and closes the container) I can’t tell by just looking at it but trust me, you will see my face here again even if one stone is missing. Have a nice day and remember to keep our little visit classified. (walks out with Quincy)
Julia, Maame Dufie, Mike, Quincy and Henrietta shared the diamonds equally.
Some days later, The Boss, Albert, Karl Simpson and their boys were arranged before court and they were found guilty for murder, drug peddling, money laundering, illegal possession of firearms and kidnapping. The Boss was sentenced to life imprisonment and all his properties were confiscated, Albert was given 48years sentence. Karl Simpson petitioned the American government to come to his aid because he wanted to face his trial in his motherland. He was expatriated back to America where he was also hand 80years imprisonment sentence.
Julia and Quincy later started dating, with the money they got from the diamonds they sold, they applied for a British visa and relocated to London.
Mike and Henrietta got married some months later and moved to the States where Henrietta is pregnant at the moment. The money they got from their diamond sales, they set up an event center which is been managed by Mike’s sister Leticia.
Opana never confessed his bad ways to anyone but he has changed into a better man and has opened the biggest cold store in and around his village for his wife.
Adjoa Bernice is currently in the university reading law.
