EPISODE 10 & 11
Ama Konto was lying on the ground lifeless as Stella shook her with fear all over her face and watched as her crew attended to her.
She couldn’t move an inch and she had tears in her eyes explaining how sorry she was at the moment.
The few students around helped carry Ama Konto to the sickbay. Raymond was phoned immediately and made his way to the sickbay as quickly as he could.
Dr. Prince Marfo had sent away all the students who had brought Ama Konto in and thanked them.
He made sure Ama Konto was placed in a nice warm bed and attended quickly to her.
Raymond barged into Dr. Marfo’s office sweating profusely when he got to the sickbay and found his friend writing something on a piece of paper for the nurse beside him.
He apologized and waited outside until the nurse had left and went in again.
“Yo, relax bro. What’s the matter with you anyway?” He questioned.
“The girl. Ama Konto. Heard she was brought in here.” Raymond said hastily. “How is she, bro?”
Dr. Marfo got up from his chair and had his friend sit down. He knew he had to calm down his friend before he does something nasty. And that was exactly what the doctor did.
“The girl is fine, bro. She hit her head and had a mild concussion but she’s fine now. I ran some tests on her and she’s good. Gotta rest for some time and she can go back to the hall,” Dr. Marfo explained.
His explanation had calm his friend down and he saw how relaxed he was.
“Girl is damn hot as hell, man” Dr. Marfo said.
“Stay clear off her, bro” Raymond said seriously.
“Okey dokey, boss,” Dr. Marfo replied jokingly, raising his hands.
“But hey, gotta tell you something,” Dr. Marfo said
“Flow with me, bro” Raymond replied and sat up quite suddenly.
“So, the girl came in looking all pale and dull. She was showing some symptoms of being pregnant. I ran a pregnancy test on her and guess what. She’s is three weeks pregnant, bro.” Dr. Marfo explained.
Raymond’s face changed suddenly and knew then that he was in some deep shit that could damage his reputation and if not that of the school.
He started sweating immediately and had lost words suddenly. He knew he had to keep his composure. He looked at his friend and the doctor knew the message his friend was sending with his body language.
“No no no! I ain’t doing that, bro.” Dr. Marfo said hastily.” I’m done cleaning your mess. Not this one in particular. Got a bad feeling about it.”
“But I know someone, he can get it done for you in a bit,” he said.
“Put down his address for me,” Raymond said and stood up quickly.
His friend had written the address for him and he left the sickbay immediately.
It had been exactly three days since Ama Konto was admitted at the sickbay. She had been discharged on the third day and was taken to her hall immediately.
During her stay at the sick day, events of the day she was drugged and raped had come back to her like a dream and she knew Raymond had done something to her.
She had cried and cursed the day she met Raymond. And she knew her Papa will be disappointed in her.
She had gone straight to Raymond’s office a few minutes after she had returned from the sick bay. She had lied to Kim that she wanted to clear her head with a walk.
She barged into Raymond’s office and found him on his sofa relaxing and sipping beer.
“Ah, there comes my sweet…”
Raymond did not finish when Ama Konto landed two hot slaps on his cheeks. She held him by the neck and threw him over to the window and Raymond wondered where she had gotten all that strength from.
“Oh you! You beast! You animal! You worthless piece of shit! What did you do to me on the anniversary night,” she questioned angrily and kicked him in the balls.
Raymond groaned and felt humiliated instantly.
“What the fuck are you talking about, Ama.” he replied, trying to look angry.
“How could you Ray. How could you?! I trusted you and that’s how you repay me? By drugging me and having your way with me?” she questioned tearfully.
“Oh, you thought I wouldn’t know right? You had my glass of champagne drugged. You brought me up here into your little stupid room and you raped me! You have ruined my life, Raymond. I am ruined!” Ama Konto said, with tears streaming down her face.
Raymond bowed his head in shame and wondered how she remembered everything that had happened that night. He knew one of the side effects of the drug was forgetfulness and he was quite surprised.
“If you get an abortion then your life really ain’t ruined, Ama. I have a friend, he can get this done in a bit for you and you’ll be free. No one would have to know about this. Just you and me.” he said, trying to get Ama Konto convinced
“That’s it, Ray. There are consequences. If everything gets wrong you’ll fa…”
He cuts in sharply.
“Can you for once stop this your superstitious thing and listen to me?” he yelled.
“I have this friend, I will set up a meeting and in two days I’ll come and get you and go and see him. He’ll get this done with you never noticing that you were pregnant. You just have to believe me okay?” Raymond explained.
“I hope things go right, Raymond. I hope” she said and walked away from the office.
Raymond moved over to the sofa and emptied his beer in one gulp.
“Fuck!” he yelled.
Raymond had arranged the meeting with Twumasi Daniel, Dr. Marfo’s friend at his workplace. He worked in a neglected house in a bush outside town.
Raymond had sneaked Ama Konto out without anyone’s notice. He had driven for some hours before he finally located the house.
Ama Konto had tried to talk to Raymond to get him to change his mind and send her to a different place because she didn’t feel okay about the place they were going.
Raymond had assured her and comforted her that she would be fine. And that’s the only place she can get the abortion done.
Twumasi Daniel was waiting for them when they pulled up behind his car. He was a medium built man and had a scary face. He had a scar that runs from his left ear down to chin.
He never smiles because his smile made him look like a monster. He welcomed his guests and led them into the house.
“You must be Twumasi Daniel, I guess.” Raymond said as he looked around the hall.
The hall was dark and had blinking lights. The chairs were old and dusty. Everything in the room looked old and abandoned.
“I am,” he answered without looking back. “But call me Stiles”
“Styles?” Raymond questioned.
“Uh-huh. Stiles, with an ‘i'” He said in a deep voice. “I get shit done in styles,”
He led them to the basement down the hall. He had separated the basement into two, an office and a ward.
He settled his payment with Raymond as he asked Ama Konto to step into the ward. He asked Raymond to wait for him in the hall for a few hours as he did his job.
Raymond stepped into the ward and bid Ama Konto good luck before stepping into the hall.
It had been exactly three hours and Raymond had not heard a single word from Stiles.
He paced around in the room absent mindedly and he thought of almost everything. How he had drugged Ama Konto, raped her and recorded every single moment of it.
How he had planned on using the tapes to blackmail her and get more sex from her and how happy he would have been. Had this little pregnancy not happened.
He thought about almost everything thing and had wanted to go down there and check on Ama Konto when the door distracted his thoughts.
Stiles stood by the door way and looked at Raymond without batting an eye.
“Well, how is she? Can I go see her now? Is she okay?” Raymond asked, one question after the other.
Stiles moved forward and closed the space between the two of them.
“Well” he sighed. “As much as I hate to break this to you, I have to. There was some complications and the girl didn’t make it ou..”
Stiles didn’t complete when Raymond rushed him to the door and landed a blow to his face, causing Stiles to fall down.
Raymond picked him up, ready to land another blow and that was when he knew someone was actually better than him.
Stiles spunned to his right with a speed of light and landed a hefty blow in Raymond’s ribs, breaking a few of them.
Stiles came behind Raymond’s back and kicked him in the balls.
That landed Raymond completely on the ground. But Stiles was not done with him. He moved Raymond’s arm to the doorway and banged it with the door, breaking his arm.
Raymond groaned in pain. Stiles moved past him to the basement and a few minutes later, he came in with a first aid kit to dress Raymond’s wound.
Raymond still laid on the ground and regretted making that move on Stiles.
Stiles had moved back to the basement after dressing Raymond’s wounds.
Stiles came up shortly with Ama Konto in a black bag and dropped her on the ground.
“What, the fuck am I supposed to do with that, man” Raymond asked anxiously.
“Get your dirty self and the beautiful dead ass woman outta here.” Stiles replied.
“I’mma pay double man, I’ll give you whatever you want man. I can’t take a dead body with me. I don’t know what the fuck to do with that. Please man. I’mma pay double.” Raymond pleaded.
“Get your fat ass outta here,” he said seriously. “Not gonna say again. Out, now!”
Hurriedly Raymond picked Ama Konto’s lifeless body and walked through the door without looking back.
He dropped the body in the trunk of his car with his mind full of thoughts.
But he had to look strong. He can’t let this be a setback. And he knew exactly what he was going to do.
Mrs. Mae had had a bad dream the previous night and it was the same dream she had had earlier.
She got up from the bed and found that her husband was not there.
She had sweats all over her face and looked afraid. She wiped the sweats off and stepped outside.
She found her husband at the shrine and when he turned to her, he had a worried face and his eyes were all red.
“You had the same dream again I guess, my love” Mr. Kpakpo said and moved towards his wife.
“Yes, my husband. Oh Bosomba! Something has happened to my daughter and I feel it in my bones. Bosomba!” she cried out and hugged her husband.
“I know, I know, sweet pea. I feel it too. It feels like my soul has left me.” Mr. Kpakpo said and hugged his wife tightly. “I’ll go to the school tomorrow and find out. Don’t you worry.”
“Oh I want to come with you. Please” she pleaded.
“No, my love. I’ll go there and bring you any news about our daughter,” he said.
“If something has happened to my daughter I’ll soon know. And whoever has a hand in it will face the consequences directly,” Mr. Kpakpo said passionately, with venom.
The two went inside and sleep never came to their eyes till morning broke.
