Divorcing Tony…

DIVORCING TONY
EPISODE 12
Stacy, standing behind Junior and Ceci, looked at her mother with obvious confusion. Sandra saw the look and stood up suddenly with a look of concern on her face, and then she made as if to walk towards the children, but Judge Ivy Asante Darteh looked at her with a stern look.
“Sit down, Mrs. Baidoo,” the judge said suddenly.
Liz glanced at her mother with sudden desperation and then she spoke sharply to her children.
“Junior, Ceci, stop misbehaving!”
But the children still continued to struggle with Junior now wrapping his arms securely around his little sister and beginning to draw her back whilst Ceci cried stringently.
There was an uproar in the courtroom now, and almost everybody was looking at Tony Siaw who has suddenly folded his arms across his chest and leaned back in his chair.
“Alright, the two of you, PT now!” he said, and his voice was very calm and gentle, far from his rather uncouth and mildly crazy composure he had exhibited in court before his children appeared.
The little children stopped struggling immediately and remained still as they looked at their father.
“Not wan PT!” Ceci shouted with her arms raised towards her father. “Wan Daddy!”
“But it is Peace Time!” Junior shouted at her. “PT! And you have to obey!”
“Not wan obey!” Ceci cried. “Daddy, come!”
“Now, you have to listen to your brother, Ceci, my princess!” Tony Siaw said in the most gentle of voices. “If you love Daddy, you have to listen to your brother’s side and agree to Peace Time.”
“Ceci love Daddy!” the girl cried with the cutest of smiles.
For a moment, as Tony looked at them, he looked so vulnerable, and he tucked his lips between his teeth for a while.
“And Daddy loves Ceci,” he said, his voice still gentle, carrying over the microphone, and surprising people with his sudden compassion. “Daddy has missed Ceci so much!”
The girl raised her hands again.
“Then Ceci comes Daddieeeesh!” she screamed.
“Not before PT, my princess,” Tony said gently. “You want to come to me, but Junior doesn’t want you to. So, let’s listen to his reasons, okay?”
That was when Lawyer Hassan Moshi got to his feet, obviously quite shaken by the sudden interplay of emotions and understanding between Tony and his children, and disconcerting by the serene look on the judge’s face as she looked on carefully.
“Your Honour, I will like to –”
“Shut up, Counsel, not now,” the Judge said without looking at her. “I want to see this.”
Ceci dropped her hands and pouted at her brother with a comical face that made people laugh in the courtroom.
“Junors!” she said in a worried voice. “I count one!”
Junior looked at his sister with shock and turned a frantic face towards his father.
“Daddy!” he complained. “She’s giving me one count to explain!”
“Ceci, my princess, you can’t give your brother one count!” Tony said with a chuckle. “He can’t say anything in one count.”
The little girl pouted again.
“But I wan go Daddieeeeesh!” she shouted. “I count two!”
“Daddy!” Junior cried.
“Ceci, be reasonable, dear!” Tony Siaw said. “Give him twenty counts!”
“Nooooo!” Ceci cried, her face horrified as she shook her head almost violently. “Twenty count not goooooood! I count five!”
“Alright, dear, make it ten then,” Tony said.
“Kay, kay, kay!” Ceci cried. “Junors! I count ten! Waaaaaannnn!”
Junior cleared his voice and looked at his sister earnestly.
“Ceci, you know I want to go to Daddy too, I miss him too! But Aunt Lin and Stacy and grandma and great grandma says if we go to him the woman here would not…”
“Chooooooooo!” Ceci cried, holding up two fingers.
“Ceci!” Junior cried desperately. “They say I should tell the judge woman that grandma didn’t give us the Supru medicine because if I say she gave us the Supru medicine, the judge woman will not let us see Daddy!”
“I don’t like Supuchun!” Ceci cried, shaking her head desperately. “No, Supuchun! I wan daddieeesh!”
“Yes, yes, and I want daddy too!” Junior screamed. “But if we go to daddy now the judge woman won’t let us see him again! That’s what they said!”
There were gasps in the courtroom, and suddenly people began to look at the Baidoo family with shock, surprise, and accusing expressions.
But, obviously, Ceci was not listening.
She looked at her fingers in consternation and then she pouted angrily and looked at her father with a quite chagrined expression on her face.
“Daddieessh!” she shouted. “I forgot counting!”
“You were at two, my princess,” Tony told his daughter, and she immediately held up two fingers at Junior.
“Treeeeeeee!” she screamed. “Foooooooor!”
She held up three fingers, then four fingers almost immediately with a goofy smile on her pretty face.
“Young man,” Judge Ivy Asante Darteh said gently, and Junior turned towards her with a sudden scowl.
“Are you the judge woman, please?” he asked in a voice that was unsteady.
“Yes, I am,” the judge said.
“Faaaaaaaav!” Ceci screamed.
“Young lady, you don’t have to count anymore,” the judge told Ceci gently. “You can go to your daddy now.”
“Noooooo!” Ceci shouted. “PT not over! Siiiiiiiiiiiiiis!”
Judge Ivy Asante chuckled at this quite determined little girl and looked at Tony Siaw.
“Mr. Siaw, this PT, Peace Time, is it a family thing?” she asked softly.
And, to her surprise, Tony Siaw smiled at her, and she could have sworn there was the hint of tears in his eyes, and when he spoke his voice was quite gentle, and surprisingly well-modulated.
“Sebeeeeeen!” Ceci shouted.
It was obvious that the presence of his children had suddenly given Tony Siaw peace.
“PT is for conflict resolution between me and the kids,” he said softly.
“And your wife… Liz?”
Tony nodded.
“Well, yes, mostly when she wants to leave on a shoot or interview or one of her many outings and the kids – especially Ceci – is throwing tantrums, we use the PT to settle her.”
“Eiiiiiiiiiit!” Ceci screamed, holding up her hands and eight fingers.
“Young man,” the judge addressed Junior again. “They told you that if you go to your father, or informed me about drinking the Suprumanchu liquid, I won’t let you see your father?”
Junior hung his head in shame, and did not look at the judge but at his father.
“Supunchu baaaaaad!” Ceci screamed and stamped her foot. “Not like Supunchu drink no-no, no-no! Supunchu smelly drink, eeeewwwwww Supunchu!”
Quite naturally, people have already fallen in love with this rather lovely little girl, the daughter of a celebrity whom they had hitherto only seen in photos Liz had posted online. To see like this, full of spunk and animation, and looking quite beautiful, they adored her, and they laughed heartily at her antics.
“You’re angry at me, Daddy,” Junior said as he looked at his father, and his voice was unsteady.
“I am, young man,” Tony said, but his voice was still gentle. “You were going to tell a lie!”
“But if I told the truth the judge woman would stop us from coming to you!” Junior said, and sudden tears fell down his face. “I want to be with you, Daddy! I had to do it so that the judge woman would let me see you!”
“Naaaaan!” Ceci screamed.
“Doesn’t matter what you think, my boy,” Tony said, his voice disapproving. “No matter what, boy, you have to…”
“Tell the truth, I know,” Junior said, his tears falling harder. “I’m sorry, Daddy. Please, forgive me!”
This time, for once, Tony Siaw could not speak, but he took a deep breath and simply nodded.
The courtroom was hushed when Junior turned towards the judge and wiped tears from his cheeks, and then he spoke in a voice that was quite unsteady as he fought back his tears.
“Judge woman, I’m sorry but I have to tell the truth,” he said brokenly. “I know you will stop me from seeing my daddy when I say the truth but please, please, please, please…”
“Junior,” Judge Ivy Darteh broke in, and her voice was also quite unsteady. “I already know what I want to find out.”
“Teerrn!” Ceci screamed. “Junors! Teerrrn! I go daddieeesh!”
Junior was looking at the judge with a stricken expression, his handsome little face confused.
“I can go to Daddy?” he asked, sounding uncertain.
“Any time you want to, yes,” the judge said.
And Tony Siaw watched as his daughter, screaming and shaking her arms, ran into the witness box and he lifted her and buried his face against her shoulder.
The girl wriggled, pulled herself back, held her father’s face in both hands and planted rather loud-sounding kisses on his cheeks and forehead, forcing the man to laugh with delight.
Junior stood uncertainly in front of his father, and Tony finally looked down at him.
“I was… was scared, daddy,” the boy said, his shoulders dropping as tears racked his body. “I’m sorry! Please, I won’t do that again.”
“It’s alright, my boy,” Tony said as a single tear rolled down his cheek, and his voice was very tender as he reached down and lifted his son onto his lap, and then he sighed rather heavily again. “It’s alright. Lord, I missed you guys!”
“I missed you too, Daddy!” Junior said, and then his voice just broke, and he began to cry pathetically. “I love you! Don’t leave us, Daddy!”
“Junors cry baaaaaaaby!” Ceci screamed when she saw her big brother crying in such a heartbroken fashion. “Junors, cry baaaaaaby! Daddish, Junors is cry baaaaaaby!”
Tony Siaw held his son tightly and brushed his free hand down his back.
“I love you too, boy,” Tony Siaw said. “Nothing will ever make me leave you.”
And, with that explosion of passion going on in the witness box, total silence reigned in the courtroom as all eyes watched them. This emotional scene was captured by cameras, and filled television, phone, and computer screens!
And as Liz looked at them, her hands shook, and there were unshed tears in her eyes.
