Topic: Distractions Causes Unfruitfulness
The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the Word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the Word, making it unfruitful.
Matthew 13:22 (NIV)
Sober Reflections
Every Christian is expected to bear fruits that will remain. Any Christian who does not bear fruits can be disconnected from Jesus. John 15:2
Jesus illustrates to us using a farmer sowing seeds to explain how the cares of this world and the deceitfullness of wealth can distract us from bearing fruit.
We are constantly inundated with a barrage of information and research.
A normal day in the life of a modern Christian looks similar to this while browsing on her phone:
• Healthy meal for the family.
• No exercise, no diet. Simple drink to burn belly fat – Click here!
• News update in the White House
• Economic situation in xxxxxxxx
• This is crucial to build your child’s IQ
• Click here if you want your husband to love you more.
By the time you realise two hours are gone.
~ The laundry needs to be done
~ Groceries are needed for the house
~ Children must be picked from school
~ Homework needs to be done
~ Dinner must be prepared
So many things seem urgent and important.
The Bible? Not opened.
For many, this is what is happening with them and the gospel.
They hear the greatest news this world has ever heard and are given the opportunity to partake and bear fruits but the cares of this world choke it.
Sisters, unchecked distractions are becoming the most expensive in our lives, as they can cost us our eternal salvation. For the day may pass without opening the Bible to read let alone meditate.
How will you obey what you do not know?
How will you please God when you are not obeying Him?
Let us take a critical look at the mundane things that are stealing our time each day making the Word of God a priority in order to bear fruits that will remain.
Prayer
Have mercy on us Father God, for allowing ourselves to be distracted from serving and pleasing You.
Holy Spirit, please help us to audit our lives in 2021 and plan better for 2022 to bear fruits that will remain to the glory of God in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen!
