Topic: Do Not Be Distracted
Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
Ephesians 5:15-16
Sober Reflections
We have allowed ourselves to be distracted from the most important areas of our lives – our spiritual lives resulting in our inability to focus and bear fruits that will count.
Distractions come in various forms, some can easily be identified while others may not be identified as such because they are legitimate activities.
Our opening scripture warns us to be careful how we live. We must be wise and make the best of every opportunity because the days are evil.
Thus, to live as wise people our actions should be to address the evil days.
In Luke 10:40, Martha was busy cooking for Jesus while Mary sat at Jesus’ feet feeding her soul on the Word from His mouth.
One would expect that Martha did right as she was concerned about giving the best to the Lord to make Him comfortable. But Jesus said Mary has chosen the needful while Martha was distracted.
Sisters, we need to think about how we make use of our time. Let us think more carefully about the time we spend on many things on a daily basis.
The time we spend at the screens (phones, TV, Laptops), the time we spend gisting and doing other things. Let us look wholistically at the time available whether we can focus more on the necessary things in our lives.
Prayer
Thank You Father God for always showing us the important things of life that we are not found wanting.
Holy Spirit, please open our eyes to identify the distractions in our lives and help us to focus on the important things that will bring glory to God in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
