so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,

Sober Reflections
Another fruit that God expects the Christian to bear is the Fruit of Good Works.

Paul in praying for the Colossians asked God to fill them with the knowledge of His Will in all wisdom and Spiritual understanding in order that they live a life that will please God, bearing fruit of good works.

This means not all “fruit of good works” please God. For Simon was using magic to do great things which amazed them. Acts 8:9-11
The “fruit of good works” that please God are given by Him through the knowledge of His Will. Col 1:10
In bearing “fruit of good works”, God must be involved.

We see this in Acts 10:38, How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him.
It is God who anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and with power to do the good works.

The God factor is important so we do not get confused as many people do “good works” to lure innocent and vulnerable people for their own selfish ambition and evil desires.

Sisters, let us ask God to help us to bear fruit of good works to draw people to Him that His name may be glorified.
As Jesus went about doing good, may the same anointing be upon us to do good.

Prayer
Thank You Father God for Your anointing power to bear the fruit of good works according to Your Will.

Holy Spirit, please help me to walk in ways that please God and be fruitful in every good work in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen!
