EPISODE 9
Kuman-Po-Guru screeched and thrashed wildly on the ground.
For a brief moment it defied its fear and lunged at Ledi, but it was zapped back by the force-field, and it let out a great wailing of agony that almost tore Ledi’s eardrums out.
Its red eyes were frenzied now as they rolled furiously in its head, seeking avenues of escape. Ledi saw that sudden darkness was stealing across the sky, dimming the faint light around, and he knew that the demon was trying to create that inky blackness again and use it as a shield to escape.
“Oh, no, you don’t!” Ledi said softly. “At least I learnt something from Yaw Boat, you vile demon. As the Lord is my master, the sky will not turn black, but remain clear so that I see you!”
And the darkness receded, and suddenly the rains began to peter out, and the lightning slowly began to ease off, together with the thunder.
The demon made a last frantic effort to soar into the air, and Ledi threw a fist with maddened intensity, his force-field connecting to Kuman-Po-Guru and flinging the demon hard to the ground.
It lay there, weakened and very afraid, and slowly it began to recede, and showed the agonized face of Pastor Torgbor Agorkorli.
The man’s face was terribly-contorted because the demon was intentionally torturing him.
“Let me be!” the demon hissed viciously. “I leaveth, and not returneth to thee, or any human thou knowest! If thou pusheth me, I killeth this pathetic human!”
“Go ahead and kill him,” Ledi said softly. “He made his bed, let him lie in it. Secondly, I don’t bargain with vermin! Now, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, so that His death of salvation shall not be of waste, come out of the man this instant!”
“Nay, nay, nay, naaaaay!!” Kuman-Po-Guru screamed in agony as it thrashed furiously on the ground, trying in vain to hold on to the body of the pastor.
The mark of the beast blazed angrily on its forehead as it thrashed around, causing the ground to sink in and smoke to emit from its body. The pastor’s legs appeared, then his hands, and then his body.
But his head was still embedded in the demon, unable to come out as the demon held on to him with mighty evil strength.
“In Jesus’ name, let him be! Leave this body alone, you b*s***d!” Ledi shouted.
Pastor Torgbor came out of the demon and rolled away weakly to lie still on the ground.
The demon, without a host, and with all its connections broken, looked frail and horrible on the ground, shimmering in translucent lights, the red of its eyes filled with dread.
“Commandeth me out, and I shalt abideth by thy commands!” it said in a croaky voice. “It is not unto thee to harm demons such as me before the appointeth of time decreed by the Host of Lords!”
Ledi slowly dropped to one knee and looked at the demon.
“You never give up, do you?” he asked quietly. “You killed my children, and my wife.”
“She was a harlot, a slut, a whoremonger!” the demon hissed, its voice changing over octaves, sounding depressingly multiple. “The children…they suffereth not! Their souls ascendeth up before the fire consumeth the whore!”
Ledi’s look was pure hatred as he stared at the demon.
“How dared you!” he hissed with pain. “You caused me pain and torture, demon, just as you intended to! Well, for every action its attendant consequence!”
“Thee canst do anything of import to those such as me!” it hissed in a sudden show of defiance. “Such powers is not of thee! Such powers arth reserved ONLY to Him Most High!”
“So we were made to believe, bro, so we were made to believe,” Ledi said gently, almost reverently. “But then a certain Unblind rolled along by name of Yaw Boat, you remember? The one that almost did you in? Yep, him. He didn’t know scriptures, no. So what did he do? He just went ahead and took care of The Legion, your ancestors, quite nicely. I remember Reverend Dudu saying that Yaw Boat filled The Legion with a bolt of force-field. I wonder if I can do same to you!”
Kuman-Po-Guru was blinking rapidly now, and in the depths of its eyes lurked a sudden air of unease and yes, a terror that it tried hard to hide.
“Thou knowest better!” it counter-shot Ledi’s assertion. “What is written, is written! Thou canst usurp the powers of the Lord. Thou can go so far! At the time appointeth shall those such as us be judged! Until then, thou can only cast those such as us out into the wilderness!”
Ledi stood up, remembering Yaw Boat’s summon of a Death Cloud, and he raised his hand.
“Death Cloud, to me!” he commanded suddenly.
The demon moaned with sudden terror!
Ledi waited, but nothing happened.
“If I be the servant of God, given powers of the Lord Jesus Christ, in His name do I summon you, Death Cloud! To me!”
He waited expectantly, but nothing happened.
Ledi giggled and looked into the sky.
“I don’t understand this, my Lord, I just don’t understand it!” he said amidst his chuckles. “We’ve been doing this for so long! We’ve fought more battles than Yaw Boat! We’re senior Unblinds! And yet you chose to give him almost all the abilities, leaving us old men with just casting out and blows powers! Oh, Lord, it is not fair o, it’s not fair koraa!”
He shook his head and looked at the demon which had a resigned look on its face, now aware that indeed it was safe.
“Like I sayeth, Unblind, just casteth me out!” it said with a veiled hint of disdain. “That is thy only mantle, the extreme end of thy powers! Cast me out!”
“Relax, bro,” Ledi said, his face hard and bitter. “When one door closes, another opens. Can’t let you go, really, after what you did to my family. If I be the servant of God, then in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ do I give you vile demon a part of my force-field! Take!”
Ledi Pedi swung his hand at the demon.
A sudden blast of force-field left his hand and smashed into Kuman-Po-Guru instantly!
It covered the demon completely.
The terrified demon screamed and thrashed inside the force-field.
Ledi could see its terrified face, contorting with excruciating pain, and saw its huge mouth opening in a scream, but the sound couldn’t penetrate the force-field.
The demon was screaming, begging for mercy, asking Ledi Pedi to stop the pain.
Ledi just watched and smiled as great peace consumed his heart.
“Die slow, mother*****r!” Ledi whispered as tears filled his eyes, and he remembered his children, his son and daughter, dying in the flames that had engulfed the car.
He watched silently as the force-field became smaller and smaller, squeezing and zapping the demon until it became still, and got totally consumed by the force-field.
And then, with a puff, it was done.
Kuman-Po-Guru was gone.
Forever!
