CHAPTER 6
“A long time ago, whilst trying to stop Nneka from leaving the valley with Prince Temidayo, Nneka asked me who Temi’s real mate was,” Jhon Moziz said carefully. “I was weak and confused when I tried to look into the future, and I’m convinced that was an area the Creator of All Things didn’t want me to know. I was seeing the image of Rose and Neji Helen, sometimes both of them combined! And I didn’t understand it, but I think I do now.”
“Oh,” Emmanuel Suncity said with a scowl. “A combination of Neji Helen and Rose Amaefule? My goodness! That is it! For a Mimic Artefact to convey a strong resemblance of someone the prince loves, the person wearing it must, in reality, convey the negative tendencies of the artefact.”
“Wait, wait, wait,” Prosper cried out. “What are you trying to say?”
“It is simple, really,” Emmanuel Suncity said, excited. “If I create a Mimic Artefact in the image of Neji Helen, whom the prince loved dearly, whoever wears it must be someone the prince hates, and the opposites would combine and make the artefact work marvellously!”

“Goodness,” Prosper said softly. “So, because Temi hates Rose so much, if she wears the artefact it would transform her into Neji Helen in the sight of Temi, who loves Neji so much.”
“Exactly,” Suncity said, excited himself. “But, in doing so, we would need the cooperation of Rose, the Queen and the Princess.”
“And that would amount to another deceit of the prince,” Prosper said dourly. “I don’t think I like that very much.”
“Sometimes there must be badness to bring goodness,” Jhon Moziz said softly. “How long will it take to make such an artefact, my friend?”
“Not more than five days,” Suncity said.
“Then do it,” Jhon Moziz said softly. “Let’s go to the palace. I will hold a brief with the three women involved. It pains my heart to be so callous to our young prince, but to get the greater good of rescuing our land, callousness is the least emotion to be guilty of.”
They rode along in silence for a while, and then Suncity spoke.
“And the image of Neji?” he asked. “I’ll need it.”
Without stopping Jhon Moziz pointed his staff at Suncity’s right temple.
A blue bolt shot out and hit the temple of the man, and he felt a slight burning sensation as the image of a beautiful girl suddenly filled his mind’s eye.
“You have her in your head now,” Jhon Moziz said. “Do your best to come up with the best edition of her.”

In the end, Jhon Moziz invited only four people to join him and the others to implement the deceitful plan they wanted to unleash on the prince: the Queen, the Princess, Rose and Ayaka Nsugbe.
They all saw the need to go ahead with the plan although the Queen was really worried about the aftermath when the prince finds out he had been deceived.
“He would be heartbroken again, Mama, yes,” Princess Uvbi Akenzua jumped in. “But we would all be here for him, and I’m sure that with Dayo restored to her glory, my brother would find enough beautiful women to take his mind and heart off any heartbreak.”
“I just don’t like him getting so hurt,” Queen Kelly Philip said with a worried voice. “And I don’t want him being angry at me or cutting me off even. I just hope this will be worth the pain to him.”
“He will be alright, my dearest Queen,” Jhon Moziz reassured her. “The Creator will keep his heart.”
And thus, in the end, the Queen also gave her consent.
Emmanuel Suncity left the palace and went to the forest to mould the Mimic Artefact, and in the five days that he was gone Jhon Moziz spent with a subdued Rose Amaefule, telling her about the life of Neji Helen and making her commit important incidents to memory.
He was meticulous and thorough because he was not prepared to leave anything to chance.

Finally, on the evening of the fifth day, Emmanuel Suncity returned with the Mimic Artefact, which was a very beautiful gold chain with a small locket.
Jhon Moziz took it and sighed worriedly.
They were all present in the huge relaxation lounge of the palace. They were seated around a beautiful table, but Rose Amaefule was sitting all alone in one corner of the room.
Jhon Moziz held out the chain to her.
“Come, Rose, come and try it on,” he said with a little smile.
Rose Amaefule stood up and approached them, her beautiful face holding that perpetual expression of sadness. The Queen took the chain from Jhon Moziz and smiled gently at Rose as she stepped up to the dais.
“Turn around, dear,” Queen Kelly said, and Rose obediently turned.
The Queen unhooked the clasp and draped the chain carefully around Rose’s neck, and then hooked it up again. Rose was instantly covered by a shimmering, glinting pinkish halo that slowly dissipated, and when she turned around, they all gasped, except Jhon Moziz.
There she stood, the exact replica of Neji Helen.
“My goodness!” Princess Uvbi Akenzua whispered in awe.
“Did I do well, Grand Oracle?” Emmanuel Suncity asked proudly.
“More than well, my brother!” Jhon Moziz said, completely impressed. “That is the beautiful Neji Helen indeed.”
“Come with me, dear,” Queen Kelly said and led Rose to the end of the dais where a tall mirror was standing.
Rose looked into the mirror and saw herself transformed into the image of Neji Helen for the very first time. She stared for a very long time and was appalled to find the bitter resentment rising up like bitter bile in her bosom.
So, this was Temi’s first love, the woman he loved above all.
Rose tried to find fault with the image she was looking at, but she admitted to herself that indeed Neji was a very beautiful girl. The only difference between them was their skin tone. Whereas Rose was extremely fair, Neji Helen was a dark pearl.
“You need to smile a bit, look happy,” Princess Akenzua said, unaware of the bitter conflict raging inside Rose.
“I’ll now go to the Prince’s room and restore his memories of Neji Helen,” Jhon Moziz said and became invisible almost instantly.
He floated through the walls, invisible to the eye, travelling at blinding speed until he entered the impressive quarters of Prince David Temidayo Dayo.
Temi was lying naked on the gigantic golden bed, lying flat on his stomach and breathing gently. His face was bushy now with beard, moustache and sideburns. Clothes were strewn everywhere and the air chiller was at maximum, making the room freezing cold. Slow, soothing music was playing and on the bed were the Swords of Destiny and the Royal DayoSword.
The Grand Oracle hovered over the prince, and then he stretched out his rod.
“Regain your memory, my Prince,” he said and sent the command.
But nothing happened.
He tried, again and again, but the memory blast did not leave his staff, and slowly the truth dawned on him, and with mounting horror, he blasted out of the room and headed straight to the conference room, where he made himself visible again.
They all took one look at him and saw from his horrified expression that something was amiss. The Grand Oracle had always been a stoic component, never one to express much emotion, and that was why his sweating, grim face scared almost all of them.
“Something wrong?” Prosper Freeman asked as he got to his feet instantly.
Queen Kelly laid a concerned hand on the Grand Oracle’s arm.
“Is my son alright?” she asked in an unsteady voice.
“Yes, yes, he’s alright,” Jhon Moziz said, almost absent-mindedly. “But, I couldn’t restore his memories of Neji Helen.”
“Why, Honourable Grand Oracle?” Ayaka Nsugbe asked, and much against her will Rose found herself pleased that Temi had not been able to regain his memories of the earthling.
“The moment he laid his hand on the Royal DayoSword, he became the leader of Dayo, the Heir Apparent for real, the king to be! And the minds of Dayan kings can never be controlled by any mortal, myself included!”
There was a stunned silence as they all looked at each other.
“So, what happens now?” Suncity asked carefully. “The Mimic Artefact and the Neji Helen angle becomes useless?”
“No, I don’t think so,” Queen Kelly said softly. “If indeed, he fell in love with Neji Helen, he is bound to feel the same way toward her if he sees her again. The heart never forgets true love.”
Jhon Moziz looked at the Queen with hope.
“You believe that?” he asked softly.
“I know that,” the Queen said with a smile. “So, all we have to do now is let him see Neji Helen. His door is locked, though, and he refuses to come out.”
“I can open the doors,” the Grand Oracle said.
The Queen put her hands together in a gesture of relief.
“Then let’s find out, shall we?” she said with a hopeful smile. “Go on, open the doors, Grand Oracle. Rosie, come with me. You’ll go inside to see him, and we’ll know for certain.”

“Let’s find out then,” Jhon Moziz said and became invisible again.
He blasted through the halls, and when he came to the Western Wing, he pointed his rod, and the doors unlocked one by one.
When he got to Temi’s bedroom, he pointed to the cover cloth on the bed, and it swirled under Temi and covered his nakedness. He then sighed and left the room at a lesser speed.
He waited for the rest at the end of the Great Hall, and eventually, they all appeared. The Queen opened the main door leading to the Western Wing, and then she smiled at Rose.
“Go to him, Neji Helen,” Queen Kelly Philip said gently.
Rose Amaefule felt a flash of resentment, and almost told them to address her as Rose because they all knew her as Rose, but she took a shuddering breath and swallowed her outburst.
Trembling slightly, she opened the door and went in, then shut it gently behind her.
