Topic: Distractions To Forget About Judgement
“Watch out! Don’t let your hearts be dulled by carousing and drunkenness, and by the worries of this life. Don’t let that day catch you unaware, like a trap. For that day will come upon everyone living on the earth.
Luke 21:34-35 (NLT)
Sober Reflections
Certain lifestyles make us forget our true identity, purpose in life and final destination.
There is no doubt that sinful living and drunkenness can cause us to forget about the coming judgement.
In Luke 17:26, Jesus warned that His coming would be like the days of Noah and the flood and the day fire rained down on Sodom.
He explained that the day will be like a normal day with regular activities. People marrying, eating, drinking, buying, and selling, nothing special. In the days of Noah and in Sodom, the people were weighed down with the mundane things of this life. And that day came like a trap, and there was no escape.
The Bible says that day will be unexpected like a thief in the night. The three groups of people on that day are:
1. The unsaved and living in sin
2. The saved but stopped expecting
3. The saved and expecting eagerly
Though that day will be sudden like a thief in the night, for those who are prepared and living in expectation of the Lord’s coming, it will be a welcoming surprise.
But the saved who get distracted by the cares of this world would be most affected as they knew but got distracted.
Sisters, let us stay focused and be ready for the Lord’s coming at any time, so it does not take us unprepared.
To live in expectation of the Lord’s coming, each day is not “business as usual”.
Prayer
Thank You Father God for saving me in readiness for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Holy Spirit, please help me to stay focused and ready every time for the judgement of our Lord to the glory of God in Jesus’ Mighty Name. Amen!
