Topic: Lateness To Church
And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with Him to the marriage: and the door was SHUT. Afterwards came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But He answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
Matthew 25:10-12
Sober Reflections
It is strange how people treat the things of God.
Many Christians are punctual when it comes to secular things: going for job interviews, to work, to management or board meetings, to catch a flight, but are often late to church. Worse still is their attitude when they are late – they do not see anything wrong with going to church late.
What could be the reason?
Why would Christians leave home at dawn to beat traffic in order to get to work early but do not care to be late to church to meet with the creator of the universe – the One Who holds their lives in His hand?
There is certainly something wrong!
It is obvious that many Christians do not know Who they are meeting in church and why they are in church.
The story of the ten virgins is very popular among Christians with many lessons for us.
When the foolish virgins came after going to buy extra oil. The door had been SHUT because they came LATE. And the Lord said, Truly, I say to you, I DON’T KNOW YOU
Sisters, you who go to church late, take note of this:
Anytime you get to church ONE SECOND LATE, the door has been shut against you in the sight of God.
You may be in the building but you are not in Zion – Heb 12:22-24.
And as you treat Jesus with contempt in your heart, He will tell you, “I don’t know you”, if you do not repent.
If Jesus says He does not know you, then where is your destination? Answer for yourself and REPENT!
Prayer
Merciful God, have mercy on me for treating You with contempt. I am sorry for not honouring You as You deserve. Please forgive me Lord.
Thank You Holy Spirit for opening my eyes to see my folly. Lord, I repent of my sins.
Please help me to be conscious of Who I am meeting in church that I make every effort to be early to the glory of God in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
