Topic: Lateness To Church Can Be Deadly
About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. Peter asked her, “Was this the price you and your husband received for your land?” “Yes,” she replied, “that was the price.”
Acts 5:7-8 (NLT)
Sober Reflections
“Unfaithfulness in the keeping of an appointment is an act of clear dishonesty” – Horace Mann.
If lateness to work can make you lose your job, miss your flight or lose out on a bid for a major contract then the consequences could be worse with a divine covenant relationship.
In our opening scripture, Sapphira was more than three hours late to church, she lied and she died.
If she had gone to church on time with her husband, she would have witnessed what led to her husband’s death and would most probably have repented and spoken the truth.
Her lateness to church led to her untimely death and eternal damnation.
Our habitual lateness to church is a clear demonstration of dishonesty to God. Many feel that God understands. No, God does not understand.
If we cannot keep our earthly superiors waiting then we must not keep God waiting.
Many of us sisters are like Sapphira. We spend so much time doing everything on Sunday mornings and go to church late.
If we can plan our working days and not be late to work, why not Sundays and other days that we have appointments with God.
We will have no excuse when we stand before God on that day. Let us repent.

Prayer
Thank You Father God for revealing to me the consequences of my habitual lateness to church services.
Holy Spirit, please help me to change my attitude towards God, and not take His grace for granted that my sacrifices shall be acceptable in Jesus’ Name. Amen!
