SAVED Episode Thirteen:
(American Ghanaian Setting)
Mr Smith: (enters the room) How is my beautiful damsel doing?
Selina: I am feeling all rejuvenated after the neat and nice massage I had at the spa. I was feeling bored and wanted to go on lingerie and make-up shopping but I realized I didn’t know the pin to the visa card you left with me. I didn’t want to disturb you also because I knew you will be doing a presentation at the conference and I didn’t want you to have divided attention when I call.
Mr Smith: Well it is good you didn’t call me and also you didn’t try using the visa card to purchase anything because my wife would have gotten an alert on her phone. Two things my wife knows I hate purchasing are make-up kits and lingerie. Again that account is a joint account so every transaction that takes place, she gets updates on her mobile phone.
Selina: Wooow, then not knowing the code to the visa card has really saved you.
Mr Smith: Not only me but us. My wife was once a secret detective so she is very good at running her own underground investigations and if she got an alert from any of these lingerie or make-up stores, she would have run a series of investigations to know who, when and what was purchased at those stores.
Selina: Oh so that means I can’t shop for those things I badly need?
Mr Smith: Never say never, my angel. I took a sabbatical leave from the conference today as I faked sickness so I will spend the whole of tomorrow with you and for that shopping, we are doing it tomorrow together.
Selina: Are you for real?
Mr Smith: Do I look like I am kidding? I am damn serious, my sweet lollipop.
Selina: (jumps from the bed to hug him) You are the best amongst the rest. You never fail nor disappoint, you keep putting joy on my face and I don’t know why I didn’t meet you before your wife.
Mr Smith: Well, let’s leave that question to God for He knows the reason why he allows certain things to happen when and how He pleases. Right now I need a cold shower and some good time with you right on the big king-size bed.
Selina: I think I have to join you so we all migrate to the bed after that cold shower.
Mr Smith: There is never a dull moment with you, my beautiful damsel. Let’s rock and roll.
Back at the School.
Principal’s Office:
Principal: (hears a knock on his door) Yes come in.
Coach Ross: Sorry to bother you sir but there has been an emergency that I need to run you up to speed as to what has happened here in this school.
Principal: What is the problem, Coach Ross?
Coach Ross: Sir, it’s about one of my basketball team players: Richmond Gallagher.
Principal: (takes his lense off and drops it on his desk) What about him coach?
Coach Ross: Sir he has been rushed to the hospital some minutes ago.
Principal: You are still beating about the bush, Coach Ross. As you can see, I have a lot on my desk that I am working on so please be precise with the information you want to send across. I repeat, what happened to that young man?
Coach Ross: Sir I was told he fell from the tall ladder at the drama hall and he has been rushed to the hospital as I suspect he has had some serious injuries.
Principal: Jesus Christ of Nazareth!! How did he fall from the ladder at the drama hall because I know that place is not in use due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Coach Ross: I don’t have up-to-date information on how this whole thing happened. I only came across the EMT Officers who came to convey him to the hospital.
Principal: This looks much more serious than it sounds. Who is this young man and which hospital was he taken to?
Coach Ross: I am told he was taken to the Trust hospital and the injured person is Richmond Gallagher.
Principal: (sits for a while) Did you say, Gallagher?
Coach Ross: Exactly so, Mr Principal.
Principal: My goodness, how did this happen? If that boy’s father gets to hear of his son’s injury, his father will pull this roof down on us.
Coach Ross: Sir, I am a bit lost over here, please who is his father?
Principal: His father happens to be the arrowhead of the dreaded group called “HAWKS”.
Coach Ross: Is it the same Hawks that we know to be a notorious drug cartel?
Principal: I am afraid so, Coach.
Coach Ross: But I read on the internet that, their leader has been sentenced to jail for the past 12 years now.
Principal: That is true but he still calls the shots even in prison as he serves his jail term and he left behind his trusted nephew to run the cartel.
Coach Ross: But with all this information at your disposal, why did you accept his son into this school of ours knowing the threat that young man brings to the students of this school?
Principal: A letter came from the Attorney General’s office before that young boy was admitted and besides, he last saw his father when he was just 4 years. Ever since he gained admission into this school also, I haven’t heard of any bad news about him and neither has he given me the reason to worry about his existence in this school. Now if you don’t mind, I need to call his cousin and convey the unfortunate news to him.
Coach Ross: I don’t envy you at all, Mr Principal. I will be in my office then.
Principal: Okay. I will see you before I leave this place.
Coach Ross: Very well then, sir, I want to prepare my final list for the basketball team so I present it to the organizing committee for them to work on the team jerseys as I have lost an integral member of the team and I have to get a backup plan.
Principal: Sorry about that, Coach, I will see you before I leave this building.
Coach Ross: Okay sir. (walks out from the office)
On the Streets:
Ella: Lisa I will have to leave you here and board a bus to go and see my guy. He called yesterday that he is not feeling well and I promised him that I will pass by his place after school today.
Melissa: Baby girl, are you still giving this flirt a chance in your life after all he did to you?
Ella: Lisa you won’t understand but I am so much into this dude. He was the very guy who deflowered me and it seems I have a special place in my heart for him even though I have tried severally to cut him off. You can’t believe that the day I intend or decide to break up with him is the day he bangs the hell out of me.
Melissa: So because of sex, you can’t ignore that flirt and move on with your life?
Ella: It’s not like that but I haven’t met a guy as good as him in bed and his cock size is the exact kind I need inside me. He is huge, thick and long. He knows how to hit every corner of my walls and he knows where and when to touch on my sensitive part. Lisa, I swear if you know how that guy satisfies me, you won’t advise me to look elsewhere.
Melissa: So you mean none of those handsome guys in your area and the school has that same size of manhood you want? Are you, not the same person who came to sing the praise of Elton the night you went out with him?
Ella: I did but Elton acts like a boy. I need a man in my life and not someone who always has to take permission from his mom before he goes out with me. He is practically good but can’t last like my Denzel.
Melissa: It is indeed true that you can never advise a lady who is madly in love with someone. Don’t say I didn’t try to talk you out of this madness when later you realize that flirting is not good for you.
Ella: Please allow me to carry my cross in peace. When you get yours you can decide to throw it to the birds so they feast on it. I am not sure I will return so don’t expect me in class tomorrow because I might do a sleepover and if possible enjoy the warmth of my man for some time before I return.
Melissa: And what will your mom say about you not returning to the house after school?
Ella: Don’t worry about that Lisa because I have figured that one out already. See I have gotten everything planned just like how the Professor plans everything in the Money Heist movie. I will let Denzel call my mom and pretend as if he is a teacher in our school and because of the basketball tournament ahead, we the cheer team members have been asked to stay in the school for camping so we rehearse on some new moves in respect of the tournament.
Melissa: Honestly I don’t know you any longer, Ella with everything you have just said to me. I am a total stranger in your life but I just pray your plan will go as you have mapped out because if your mom calls my mother, I don’t know how I will defend you as to why I am in the house and you are being camped in the school.
Ella: Please find an excuse and give it to your mom in case my mom calls your mother. I am ovulating and I need the attention of my man so please do this for me as I always shield you when you need me to do that for you.
Melissa: Please don’t try to blackmail me emotionally. I will find a story for my mom the moment I get home so that when your mother calls, my mother will know how to go about things.
Ella: I know you always have my back just like how I have got yours also. Let me rush before I get to Denzel’s end. You know it’s a 3-hour drive to his place from here. I want to surprise him with my presence which I know will even aid him to get better quickly.
Melissa: I wish you a safe journey then and I pray you come back in one piece looking at how you are already gnashing.
Ella: Indeed I am gnashing and can’t wait to be in the arms of Denzel. I will see you later when I am back and please do well not to get yourself in trouble during my absence. Anyone who tries to mess with you, when I return just holla me and we will deal mercilessly with that idiot.
Melissa: I love it when you go hard like this. Hurry up and catch the bus there before it zooms off (hugs Ella)
Ella: I will call you the very moment I get to Denzel’s apartment so you don’t get yourself too worried. (runs to the other end to join the bus)
Melissa: I thought I was crazy but Ella is the craziest bitch I have ever known and she does it with this beautiful flair that I can’t seem to phantom. (continues her walk to the house)
Glenn: Dude what do you think about our earlier action towards that Richmond of a guy?
Roy: I am not getting you, bro.
Glenn: I mean do you think we did the right thing by assaulting that guy?
Roy: Whether it was right or wrong, the harm has been done already and there is nothing we can do to turn back the hands of time.
Glenn: Honestly my conscience has been battling with me ever since we left the school and I think we were too harsh on him with our actions.
Roy: I don’t know why you want us to revisit that ugly encounter but please do me a favour and don’t indulge me in such conversation because I don’t find myself in any penitence for that idiot. What we should be discussing right now is how we are going to win the tournament with you as the team captain who will lift the trophy when all is done. I forgot to tell you that my cousin who was our greatest nightmare for their team will not be playing because he is down with a serious fever and cough. He has even been isolated in the hospital where he is been admitted and the doctors will be running a COVID-19 test on him to check if he is not having the virus in his system.
Glenn: I think that is the best news I have heard so far because that cousin of yours has always been stealing my shine in every tournament we play together. I pray he stays in the hospital until this whole tournament is over.
Roy: I see fear in your eyes anytime my cousin’s issue pops up.
Glenn: Truth be told, your cousin is currently the best player I know at our stage and if he continues this way, I won’t be surprised to see him in the Lakers jersey in a few years’ time.
Roy: Well that is his dream team but I know you and I will also be in the top teams in this country some time to come. I will leave you here as I check on that girl I told you about. I have to settle that unfinished business I started with her before her mind changes.
Glenn: Please be smart and safe out there. Call me when you get to the house so we plan how we will face the school authorities in case that idiot spills the beans.
Roy: I will do exactly as you have instructed. (shakes hands with Glenn as he departs)
At the Principal’s Office:
Principal: (on the phone) Hello am I speaking with Don Simon Gallagher?
Don Simon: Yes this is Don Simon Gallagher and who is on the line?
Principal: I am Jamie Baker and I am the principal of your cousin’s school.
Don Simon: Do you mean Richmond’s school?
Principal: Precisely so, Mr Gallagher.
Don Simon: So what can I do for you, Mr principal because I am in the middle of a business meeting.
Principal: Sorry to bother you, sir, I will go straight to the point so that you can continue with your meeting.
Don Simon: That will really help both of us, Mr principal, you have my attention so you can proceed with your purpose of calling me.
Principal: About an hour ago, your cousin Richmond Gallagher fell from a ladder in the school and he was rushed to the hospital.
Don Simon: (raises his voice) My cousin has been hospitalized about an hour ago and you are now informing me about that? Mr principal, I hope this is not one of the pranks people call to play on others because I will be very ruthless on you when I get to know this is a false alarm.
Principal: Please calm down Mr Gallagher. Your number in our data system was not going through so I had to make several calls to people before I got this number of yours. Again, I don’t know why I will leave the important things on my desk and make prank calls to the parents or guardians of my students.
Don Simon: So which hospital was he taken to and what is the current condition of my cousin?
Principal: For now I am not in the best position to tell you anything about his condition but he was rushed to the Trust hospital.
Don Simon: If I get to find out that my cousin got injured under the negligence of the school authorities, heads will roll in your school.
Principal: (wipes his forehead) Mr Gallagher, it has not gotten to the point of you throwing threats in the air. I am yet to be briefed about what exactly happened that led to the injury of your cousin.
Don Simon: I don’t waste my time issuing threats to harmless people like your type, sir. I was only telling you what I might end up doing to you and your school should I find out my cousin got injured due to the negligence of you people. That boy to me is like a golden egg which I guide jealously with my life. I will immediately follow up with that hospital and if you know how to pray, pray very well that nothing serious happens to my cousin if not only God knows what I will do to you and anyone involved in his injury. Again, believe me, when I say it is not a threat, have a good day. (cuts the call)
Principal: What in God’s name happened to that boy? I don’t want to find myself in any form of problem with that family. Coach Ross must give me a proper account of what exactly happened to that boy before I go and visit him in that hospital. God, this is the time I need you most to intercede on my behalf. (picks the telephone and dials a number)
Don Simon: I am sorry we have to reschedule this meeting to another time. I just had an emergency call and my presence is needed urgently somewhere.
Mr Funaki: Are you aware I flew with a private jet from Japan just to seal this deal?
Don Simon: And how does that concern me, Mr Toshima Funaki?
Mr Funaki: I am being billed every minute of my stay here with my plane on that tarmac.
Don Simon: The heir to this cartel is in a critical state at the hospital right now and you are here talking about some few dollars going down the drain because you chose to travel with a private jet to this country. As far as I am concerned, this meeting has been adjourned until further notice.
Aleksandra Yurick: Don Simon you need to consider some of us who travelled far to have this negotiation today. I had to cancel a whole lot of appointments and take a very big risk to be here even though I am not supposed to be in this country. Any delay in this deal will cause a serious immigration problem for me.
Don Simon: Did you hear what I told Funaki? Nothing on this planet Earth is important to me apart from that young boy’s life and safety. If you are arrested by immigration and imprisoned, you will only have to be grateful to God because from where you are coming from, American prison is like heaven to you guys.
My uncle who happens to be the reason why most of you are still alive and counting huge sums of money is even in prison so if you are unfortunate and you are taken to any American prison, don’t forget to appreciate God. As I stated earlier on and of course, you know very well that I hate repeating myself, this very meeting has been adjourned until further notice. Enjoy the rest of your stay on this beautiful American soil, gentlemen and lady. (walks out of the meeting room)
Mrs Zuma: This young man seems to forget we are seniors in this business and some of us, our loyalty has been the benchmark behind the success of this cartel. I will speak with his uncle and register my displeasure if none of you will master the courage to speak with Gallagher.
Mr Funaki: I don’t want to have any issues with that boy so let me rush to the private airport and save myself some dollars.
Aleksandra Yurick: I must also be out of this country before I am red-flagged in the system.
Mrs Zuma: You have a great point Aleksandra, whoever smuggled you into this country did a great job so do well to leave this country before your path is traced.
Aleksandra Yurick: You have a good point, Mrs Zuma, I don’t want my Mexican connection to have any issues so I will disguise myself and set off this very moment, by the time I get to the border it will be midnight and crossing will be easy by that time.
Mr Funaki: Aleksandra call me when you get to your country. I have a new deal I am trying to pull in your country and I would like you to check the source for me if the people are genuine.
Aleksandra Yurick: I am always a call away from you so don’t worry. My connections in Russia never fail me with any information I want.
Mr Funaki: Thank you for the assurance and support always. You will hear from me when I get to Japan.
Mrs Zuma: (makes a phone call) Thembi start the car and get the boys ready, I will be out in a minute. (ends the call)
At the Hospital:
Nurse: Is everything alright, Dr Cliff?
Doctor Cliff: Oh yes, this young man is very lucky looking at the results of the x-ray before me. What exactly happened to him?
Nurse: According to the report from the paramedic team that brought him, he fell from a ladder at his school’s drama hall.
Doctor Cliff: He is a lucky boy to have survived a severe spinal cord injury. His spine got twisted a bit which will require immediate surgery to correct it but I will need his parents to sign a consent form before we can proceed with that surgery so kindly direct them to my office the moment they get to this place. For his leg, we can commence with the surgery as he has gotten some of his muscle tissues torn and we need to correct it immediately.
Nurse: I will direct them to your office the very moment they get to this place.
Doctor Cliff: And also please be monitoring him for me with the medicine that we have administered to him. I want you to be reporting to me every 30 minutes regarding any changes that take place on him.
Nurse: Very well noted, doctor Cliff.
