The Roommate Episode 6 © Eunice Ansah-Agyeman
Sabastian sat through the memorial service for his father like a robot, his mind at war with what to do next.
He also showed very little interest in proceedings when the family gathered after church for the reading of his father’s will. A lot of exchanges ensued during and after the reading of his father’s will but all Sabastian could do was take his mother out of the family house when things got to their head.
When he got home, he went straight to his room and locked himself in, something he had not done for ages.
He disabled flight mode and called Mina.
“Hi, Love!” he said, as he forced not to let the pain in his heart reflect in his voice.
“Hi, I was getting worried when you didn’t send me any pictures of happenings in your hometown. You usually do that, you know.”
“Yeah, sorry. It’s not a memorable experience this time.”
“You sound very sad, I’m sorry you have to go through this stuff, you should have let me accompany you,” Mina said.
“Nah, I don’t want you to be bored with these kinds of things. Things sometimes get pretty nasty as it’s obvious my father’s family hate my mother and me. I don’t want you to see that part of my family.”
“Anyway, I just got off the phone with my parents. I told them the good news and they are so happy, especially Dad. They want us to dine with them as soon as they get back,” Mina stated, trying to lift Sabastian’s spirits.
Instead of feeling happy, he felt like things were moving too fast and getting more complicated by the day. He was not sure Mina would believe him and that was stalling his decision to let her know what happened.
“Bas, Love, are you there?”
“Yes, Love. There is something I need to tell you when I get back.”
“Good or bad?”
“Not telling.”
“Why hint me if you are not going to tell me? You know I don’t want to be kept in suspense. Tell me now!”
“You will have to wait for this one, my love. Never forget that I love you very much and that you are my breath and lighthouse, without you, I’ll be lost forever.”
“I love you too, Bas! I love you a whole lot.”
“I got to go, will call you before you sleep tonight.”
“Sure, I will wait for your call.”
When the restlessness from the anguish he was going through peaked, Sabastian sneaked out of the house and made the long journey to the cemetery on foot.
He was quite worn out when he arrived. He made his way to his father’s grave and stood for a while just staring at the tombstone and the hopelessness that came with it.
His father was now sleeping permanently in a tomb and there was nothing he could do about it. He was never going to hear him, see him or touch him. Sometimes, that was a bit too much for him to take since they were very close.
He stayed in the forlorn state for a while still trying to find the best way to tell Mina about the unfortunate incident with her roommate.
He was on foot to the house when his phone rang and he was instantly enraged when he saw that it was Julie-Anna who was calling.
His first thought was to ignore the call but when he saw that she would not stop calling until he picked up, he swiped the green button and put the phone to his ear.
“What do you want, witch!”
“You are just angry because you like it that much. Just admit it. No one will fault you, I’m that good, you know. Anyway, I wanted to know when you will be back, just thinking about you makes me wet. I can’t wait to feel you inside me, again.”
“Dream on, witch. I would rather die than get together with you. I don’t know why you are so insensitive. This should be the last time you call me, get it?”
“I want you to block me so that I can tell Mina all about us. Don’t dare me, Sabastian, you’ve got more to lose than me. You should have seen how happy she was when she was telling her parents about how you proposed. I’m eager to see the look on her face when she finds out that the same night you proposed to her, you slept with another woman, none other than her roommate.”
“Don’t try me, Julie-Anna. You don’t want to see me angry. Try anything stupid and I will come at you with everything I’ve got. Don’t you dare bring out my bad side. And get it through your shapeless head that I will never be with you, never.”
“Looks like you are in a bad mood today, I will call you back later,” Julie-Anna said and hung up.

Three weeks passed in a blur, and based on advice from an elderly man Sabastian had met casually, Sabastian had put off telling Mina about Julie-Anna until after the examinations.
Mina’s end-of-semester examinations ended on a Friday and Sabastian had again found it hard to dampen her spirits with the bad news he was carrying since their anniversary was just the week ahead.
The day of the anniversary came, it was their third anniversary, and they were both so excited about it.
Happily, they walked hand-in-hand as they arrived from a planned anniversary outing at Sabastian’s wing of the huge house he shared with his widowed mother.
Sabastian’s feelings for the woman before him were mirrored on his face as he lowered his lips onto hers for an explosive kiss that left them both breathless and hungry for each other as soon as they entered the comforts of his abode.
Desires soared and the need for the pleasures of each other’s body was very evident in their actions and looks and just when they were about to unite their bodies, Sabastian stopped and took Mina’s hands in his.
“Sweetheart, you know I love you, right?”
“Yep, I know. And I love you too, and that’s why I’m eager to consummate our engagement. You have not touched me since the engagement and I know we have both been busy with school and other things, but I find it a bit puzzling because you are quite the sex man, so just stop talking, and show me you love me.”
The intercom rang just then and Sabastian had to leave to help her mother with something that could not wait.
Grudgingly, he kissed her passionately and left her reluctantly to attend to his mother.
“I will be right back, my Love. Just hold the thought, there’s more to come.”
Mina smiled, and her desire for him was ignited all over again when she got the drift of what he was trying to say.
Sabastian’s mother had been very sweet with her, and she had no problems whenever she needed her only son to help her with something.
She felt the strongest urge to call her sister but since her phone went dead while they were out and was now plugged in, she decided to send a quick text to her sister who was not feeling too well when she left home earlier in the day.
As a policy, she never used her phone when it was charging, so she decided to use Sabastian’s phone for the quick check-up on her kid sister. This was not the first time she would use Sabastian’s phone for something like this so when she picked his phone from the bedside table, she didn’t have any reason to be skeptical about it.
She briefly checked on her sister and Wendy assured her she was feeling much better and that her boyfriend was with her should things take a worse turn.
Feeling relieved from the guilt of choosing to stay with Sabastian instead of her sick kid sister, Mina took a deep breath and was about to exit WhatsApp when a message popped up.
She was shocked by the person who sent it and was intrigued about what her roommate, who was just on a hi basis with Sabastian, would send to him. Out of curiosity, she swiped down on the notifications panel and was dumbfounded by what her eyes saw.
“Are you avoiding me on purpose? It’s been a while since you filled me with your joystick, in the doggy gig and I’ve not been able to think about anything else. Our tumble times are my fondest memories, and I don’t like it when you go into hibernate mode after we make love. I know we agreed never to text each other but you left me with no choice since you are not picking up my calls. Call me back when you see this, there’s a new S-style I’ve discovered and I want to try it with you ASAP. Will send u the pic. It’s a bomb, I know you’d love it.”
Mina felt the adrenaline rush to her brain instantly. She suddenly felt a rush of heat all over her body. It seemed her heart had stopped beating and her bones felt like they had been dried in the hot sun for ages nonstop.
