Chinua Joshua got to his feet in a rage, tucked his pecker back in, and without zipping up he drew his sword and turned toward the main house.
“Come with me, Jabel!” he hissed furiously.
Nneka Okez wept bitterly.
“Oh, Temi, oh, goodness, no, no, no, please, Chinua!” she moaned in anguish. “Don’t kill him please! Chinua, you vile demon, don’t kill my prince! Don’t you dare touch Temi otherwise I’ll rip the eyes off your face! Temi, oh, Temi!”
With a herculean effort, Nneka turned over, pulled down her dress, and struggled to her feet. Dizzy and weak, face swollen from Chinua’s attack and bleeding from the nose and her split lips, she ran in a zig-zag drunken manner toward the house as her heart beat with agony and fear.
“Oh, Temi, oh, Temi, my prince!” she wept as she moved. “Don’t kill Temi, please Chinua! I beg of you!”

Okakuo Agbons opened the small door and entered the Commander’s Office in the Tower.
Abiodun Moshe looked up from the document he was perusing with a startled expression. He saw the grave look on Okakuo’s face as the young man slammed the parts of the iron mask and the padlocks down on the desk hard enough to make a coffee cup on it jump and shatter on the floor.
“Okakuo, what’s the matter with you?” the aged Commander asked with shock and dread mixed on his face.
“How could you do such a thing, sir?” Okakuo asked heatedly. “It was bad enough sending me up to see her every time I report for duty! Leaving the padlocks unlocked was a horrible and unpardonable mistake, sir!”
Abiodun gestured to him to keep his voice low as he stood up and rounded the desk. He pushed the door shut and then faced Okakuo. He put a hand on the young man’s shoulder.
“Relax, son, relax!” he said desperately. “No one needs to know this! I saw both of you, and I saw how she always wanted to see you. You love her, don’t you?”
“I do, yes, but this was not the way to go about it!” Okakuo said, and there was a hint of fear in his voice now. “You just put our lives in danger, sir, me and you!”
“What are you talking about?” Abiodun asked with a shake of his head. “No one needs to know.”
“The king will know!” Abiodun hissed desperately. “His monstrous wizard, that Leke Olugbade Bally, he knows everything, and sees everything! My uncle at the palace, he’s part of the kitchen staff, and he narrates how that wizard always seemed to speak to Temitayo Anubi and give him secrets around the kingdom! My uncle even suspects that King Demi was poisoned by the cook, Sehrikey Zaharks!”

“Keep your voice down!” Abiodun said desperately, his face looking worried. “Okay, maybe I made a mistake, but I don’t really see any harm that’s done. Keep it to yourself and let’s lie low for a few days and see what happens, okay? If it blows over, we’ll be more careful next time.”
Okakuo Agbons ran his hands across his face.
“Can I go home now, sir, just to check on my mother?” he asked miserably.
Abiodun Moshe sighed heavily.
“Don’t take it too hard, son,” he said thoughtfully. “I do believe Dayo, our great land will have her former glory soon, yes, under a true king. So enjoy the young love, son. Alright, if it will make you feel any better, go on home. I’ll let the other boys cover for you, or say you felt sick.”
“Thank you, sir,” Okakuo said with a sheepish grin. “I’m much obliged. And thanks for today. It has been the happiest day for me.”
Abiodun nodded, and they shook hands.
Okakuo retreated to the small inner room and quickly changed from the warrior armour into a comfortable shirt, trousers, and boots. He descended quickly to the stables and got his horse, and then he rode fast into the darkness toward his house.
The house was in darkness, and it set his heart beating savagely with fear.
“Oh, mother, mother, mother!” Okakuo groaned as he jumped from the horse and drew his sword, and then he raced toward the front door. He kicked it open, and at the same time he felt a horrible explosion on his head as someone struck him in the darkness, and he fell down unconscious.
***
Okakuo opened his eyes slowly.
He was sitting on a chair, and his legs were tied to the front legs of the chair whilst his hands were lashed behind him with thick cords. A gag was in his mouth and tied brutally with cords. He was totally naked!
And there was horror all around him!
Next to him was Princess Uvbi Akenzua, also sitting on a chair but clothed, and equally bound but not gagged.
And then, the horrible sight of all, was that his mother, Rakia Fuseina, was lying on the floor, and beside her was the former queen mother, Kelly Philip, Princess Uvbi’s mother! Sitting on the floor at the other end of the room was a naked Abiodun Moshe, also bound. His face was bloodied and swollen as if he had been beaten with heavy objects.
The middle of the floor was strewn with shards and pieces of broken glass. Standing near the door were Temitayo Anubi, dressed in the golden robes of a king. With him was the Commander of the Warriors, Emmanuel Stephen Skandy, and at the far end was the tall, pale-faced Leke Olugbade Bally, who was holding a black crow in his hand and slowly patting its head.
Standing beside Temitayo and licking her lips with grim enjoyment was Juliet Onyinye, and her cruel eyes were fixed on Kelly Philip, obviously enjoying the pain of the woman she hated most.
Princess Uvbi Akenzua was weeping uncontrollably, and so were the two mothers. There was a contusion on the left cheek of the princess as if she had been slapped, and this tore Okakuo’s heart.

“The three of you defied the king, and did something abominable!” Temitayo Anubi said with great wrath as he glared at Okakuo. “And you, an imbecile twerp, dared put your filthy paws on a woman I have raised and reserved for myself? You will pay, Okakuo, you filthy pig! Oh, yes, you will pay!”
“Leave him alone, you devil!” Princess Uvbi Akenzua screamed passionately as tears of anguish fell down her face. “I love him, do you hear? And I despise you with the fiery fire in my soul!”
“Shut up, you filthy whore!” Temitayo Anubi screamed, crossing the room by going around the shards of broken glass on the floor, and then he slapped the princess sickeningly across the face.
Okakuo moaned and struggled in the chair with impotent rage.
Temitayo Anubi screamed, drew his sword, and then he stepped toward Abiodun Moshe with his sword pointed threateningly.
The old man looked at Temitayo defiantly, and then he spat on the floor.
“You have never been my king!” he said with cold disgust. “Your days are numbered, you bastard! I know the tide will turn soon, and you shall wallow in the agony of your sins, you bastard!”
Temitayo screamed with rage, and then he ran his sword into the heart of Abiodun, twisting the blade viciously to shatter the old man’s heart!
The mothers screamed with horror. The princess wailed with terrified horror, and Okakuo and groaned behind his gags as Abiodun’s face screwed up with pain, and his blood spurted out onto his chest, and he keeled forward, dead before his upper body hit the ground.
Temitayo placed his foot against the shoulder of Abiodun and used it as leverage to pull out his sword. He turned, his face maddened, and pointed the sword at the two women on the ground.
“You evil mothers!” he grated with hatred. “Your children did this evil to me! You will dance on the broken glass, or I swear I’ll kill both of them this instance, and to hell with the consequences!”
“Noooo!” Princess Uvbi screamed with horror, sick to her stomach as she glared at Temitayo with tears streaming down her face. “Please, please, I beg of you! Don’t do this to them, please. I’m sorry for doing this. I’ll do anything you want, Temitayo, but please, please, spare them!”
Temitayo swivelled round and placed the sharp sword on Okakuo’s throat, and with mad eyes, he looked at the two women on the floor.
“Dance, or by the Hades of Dayo I will decapitate this bastard right here!” he screamed ferociously.
Okakuo shook his head and groaned with horror and grief as his mother and Queen Kelly Philip stood up. Tears fell down his face as the two elderly women moved to the center of the room and began to dance on the broken glass fragments…and soon blood began to pour out of the soles of their feet!
Princess Uvbi Akenzua screamed and wept as she watched what was going on, and then, unable to watch any longer, she closed her eyes tightly as tears choked her so hard that she could barely breathe.
Okakuo Agbons struggled fiercely in the chair, his face shattered with the torture of the two women.
“Kill me, you vile monster!” he screamed. “Kill me and leave our mothers alone!”
But the gag was in Okakuo’s mouth, and so only grunts came out as he watched the two women moaning with pain as the glass cut the soles of their feet, and the blood matted the glass fragments!
