CHAPTER 25
They had tried to separate Temi from his sword, but he had it now!
Rose dropped to her knees slowly, her face horrified, when she saw them descending from the sky!
It was Leke Olugbade Bally, and with him were an uncountable number of the most hideous evil entities Rose had ever seen!
These were horrendous and vile spirits, demons and principalities!
They were in all forms, all shapes, all colours!
They filled the sky, a multiple, an army of vile and murderous entities!
And when Temi struggled to his feet, alone and naked, he faced that army…and he looked absolutely pathetic standing there all alone against all that multitude.
Rose was suddenly scared.
Completely!

Temi’s eyes were bleak with wrath as he stared at Leke Olugbade Bally and the evil horde he had assembled.
“We meet again, Prince of Dayo,” Leke Olugbade hissed, and plumes of dark smoke blew out of his mouth, nostrils and ears when he spoke. “This time around, you will lose your life, because you dared follow me into the belly of my comfort.”
“You will be surprised at the number of comforts that turn to hell, you vile demon!” Temi hissed furiously as he stared at the evil entity. “You killed my father, and killed my grandmother. For eighteen years my mother and sister knew no peace of mind, and lived in dejection. You owe me life, demon!”
Leke Bally’s eyes glowed crimson blood as he snarled evilly, and deep down in his gullet Temi saw a blazing fire.
“Stop your impudence, Dayan!” the demon growled furiously. “This is not Dayo! This is The Ashes, my special place, and your Creator has no authority here! You will get down on your knees and worship me, or you shall be slain where you stand!”
“The day I prostrate before demons is the day I cease to be the son of King Demi and the Heir Apparent to the Dayan throne!” Temi said and spat contemptuously.
He could see the host of demons hovering in the air. They were so many that he could barely see the sky beyond them, and he knew each was as vicious as they looked, and they would fight meanly. Clearly, he was no match for such a horde, but Temidayo was never one to balk in the face of daunting odds.
Slowly, he raised the Royal DayoSword and held the hilt with both hands.
“Come to me, demons!” he whispered tightly. “Skat!”
The incredible horde of demons and spirits made a deafening noise with their malevolent hissing, grunts and growls, eagerly wanting to vent their spleen on the naked earthling, but Leke Olugbade Bally smiled sardonically and held up a hand, staying their rush.
“You’re a fool, Dayan,” he said as he linked his arms across his chest. “What do you think is going to happen here?”
“I see your demise, and the total annihilation of all that trash with you,” Temi said furiously as he still crouched in his fighting stance.
“Ah, I now understand your unreasonable reasoning,” Leke Bally said with a fierce glare. “Obviously, you have learnt of the Great Purge.”
“I have been apprised, yes indeed,” Temi said. “And I do believe that the end of this accursed day shall see Dayo eternally purged of your evil.”
Leke Bally threw back his head and laughed, and as he did fire emerged from his throat in a burst of red flames, and smoke billowed out of his ears and nostrils.
“I am happy today as I have never been in my life,” he said. “Your sense of security is misplaced, Dayan. I will tell you what the Oracles say about The Purge. It states, verbatim, that there comes a day when a boy who never nursed from the breasts of a woman and raised of a foreign land will pass through from the entrance of the White Lands on his way to The Desolates, accompanied by a damsel of the line of sirens, and wage a final war with spirits of the darkness in The Ashes, supported by a multitude of Dayan Kings, and purge The Ashes of all spirits that had evil intents…”
“And that day has dawned, you ugly bastard!” Temi hissed.
“Indeed, it has, my Dayan prince, indeed it has,” Leke Bally said with an amused and condescending voice. “But you should hear the conclusion of the Oracles. It states that The Purge that will annihilate evil will begin when the blood of the Catalyst is raised to the spirits above without spilling on the ground.”
Temi scowled then, and slowly dropped his sword and looked at the vile Leke Bally.
“And what does that mean?” he asked softly.
Leke Bally smiled sinisterly.
“It means, puny Dayan Prince, that this purge you’re so intent on unleashing will only begin if your blood is allowed to rise to the skies without spilling on the ground! That has kept me thinking for many years, you know. I was faced with a dilemma, of how to prevent your blood from ascending instead of spilling. Now, it occurred to me that blood cannot ascend, you see, only spill. So I finally worked it out. Know what that means?
It means that if we kill you without spilling your blood, your soul might be raised to the heavens and begin the Purge! But I’m not going to let your blood rise to the heavens, my silly puny prince! I’m going to stake you, and drain your life out by spilling every drop of blood in your body on the ground here, and you shall die a pathetic death because your blood will not rise to cause any purge!”
“I do not care for my life, you evil demon who distorts truth and everything righteous!” Temi hissed. “What will be, will be!”
“The only thing that will be is your folly coming to the fore!” Leke Olugbade Bally screamed with hatred. “We will spill your blood and kill you, and then we shall possess the damsel you brought, that one from the line of sirens, and we shall use her to possess your sword, and we will force her to open the door to your beloved Dayo! We will tear your mother and sister to shreds, including all survivors, and we shall open portals and lay Earth to waste!”
“You talk a lot, demon!” Temi said contemptuously. “To me, demon!”
“Get him!” Leke Bally ordered with a face bereft of all geniality now, and filled with the kind of hatred reminiscent of sheer evil from the decaying depths of sewers.
Helpless and scared, Rose watched from beyond the invisible electric barrier as the horrible horde of evil hosts rushed at Temidayo. She saw Leke Olugbade Bally gliding slowly backward, away from the battle, and watching with eyes that kept on changing into different shades of red.
These were ferocious, vicious and malevolent evil entities that flew at Temi with just one aim: hurt him. Rose watched, barely breathing and with tears flooding her eyes, sure that Temi was going to be killed.
But she saw him twirling the Royal DayoSword in both hands as he took a fighting stance with slightly bowed legs, and then when he moved, he was a rhythm and perfection in motion.
Watching him, the tears slowly stopped falling down her face and her fear slowly dissipated and was replaced by a look of admiration and awe.
Temi moved like a spirit himself, the Royal DayoSword whirling and hissing as it sliced through the air, cutting through spirit after spirit even as they swarmed over him!
Adiekwuo Eusebia Somtoo was one of the first to perish. Eager to make an impression on Leke Bally, the red-eyed monster screeched and sailed at Temi in frenzy, aiming for the prince’s heart.
And Temi recognized him as the same red-eyed piece of trash that had almost killed him and Neji Helen so many months ago, the same evil entity that had possessed Uche Joseph and used him to attack Neji, almost strangling her to death! This was the same wicked evil that had accompanied that siren which almost buried him alive!
And Temi’s rage roared!
“Manti!” Temi whispered, and turned swiftly in the air, his sword sliding cleaning through the body of the demon.
Somtoo screeched with great horror then and tried to flee, but the moment Temi slashed him, the demon began to disappear into the Royal DayoSword! Temi spun the sword rapidly, cutting up the hateful demon in bits and pieces that disappeared into the sword.
And so the battle between one human and a multitude of demons raged on relentlessly with raw violence.
But, as fast as Temi was, and as strong as he was, they swarmed him, passing all around him and delivering punishing blows, slashes and bites to his body. He fought bravely, cutting down as many as rushed him, and filling the Royal DayoSword with spirit body after spirit body.
But this was not Dayan soil, and neither was it earthly. This was the den of these spirits, and in this evil realm, evil was the strongest. And so as many as Temi destroyed, many more hordes fell from the sky in an endless stream of hideous bodies.
Leke Olubgade Bally suddenly dropped low and stretched out both hands. A powerful blast of white light shot from his hands and smashed into Temi, driving him back!
Another blast lifted Temi off his feet and smashed him hard on the white ground. Temi struggled to his knees and was about to get up when Leke Bally unleashed another blast at him, and this time Temi was driven down flat on his back.
Leke Olugbade Bally made screaming sounds of glee and crisscrossed his arms rapidly. Immediately, hideous white creatures that looked like snakes of a sort emerged from the ground, curling around Temi’s legs and arms, and also swarmed across his belly, tying him to the ground tightly.
“Oh, no!” Rose moaned in anguish and terror. “Temi! Oh, dear Creator, if you can, help him! Please help the prince!
But it was no use.
Temidayo tried to break the hold of the hideous creatures, but to no avail! He was effectively tied and helpless!
The skies opened then, and more swarms of evil entities emerged, joining the ones already on the ground, and they milled around with glee, hooting and screaming with happiness!
There was profound hatred on Leke Olugbade Bally’s face as he looked down at Temi.
“End of the line for you, puny Dayan Prince,” he hissed. “We lived! We overcame you!”
Temi looked at the evil entity without fear, and his young heart beat with anger and hatred.
“Do your worst, bastard!” he hissed.
Leke Bally smiled cruelly, mirthlessly.
“And my worst I shall do!”
He raised his right hand to the sky and brought it down sharply!
There was a roaring sound from the sky, and suddenly the sky parted, and a stout piece of timber-like structure came hurtling down! It was shaped like a cube, but it was extremely white!
It slammed down into the ground with ferocious force, and remained standing. Leke Bally then swiped his arm across his body, and again the sky parted, and another crude wood fell.
This one did not struck the ground but it changed position and smashed across the other one, and formed a cross!
The ground shook again.
Leke Bally swiped his arm a third time, and Temi’s body shot off the ground, the Royal DayoSword dropping from his hand, and slammed onto the white cross!
The snake-like reptiles whipped around his body in a frenzy, stretching out his arms wide across the beams. They curled around his body and legs, securing him tightly to the cross.
“Leave him alone!” Rose yelled from outside the entrance as tears fell down her face in anguish. “Please, let him be! Temi! Oh, Temi! My love! My dear love! Help him Creator, please!”
Leke Olubgbade Bally glided into the air slightly and hovered in front of Temi.
“And now you will know the meaning of pain, Dayan!” he hissed ferociously. “How I have waited for this day! Perhaps, if you should beg me, bow to me, and agree to let me possess you, and control you in your reign as Dayan king, I shall spare your miserable life!”
“I spit on you, demon!” Temi said viciously and spat.
And Leke Olugbade Bally went berserk!
His arms flailed wildly, so fast that they seemed to fuse into a blur as he hammered severe blows into Temi’s body. Temi felt the crushing fists from the evil entity smashing through his ribcage, belly and head!
It was such a horrifying beating that Rose fell to her knees and dropped her head as tears of anguish choked her. She could no longer bear to watch the punishment.
When Leke Bally glided back finally, Temi’s face was swollen and bloodied, and his eyes were almost puffed close!
Leke Bally gloated as he took a step backward. He raised his arms into the sky with a victorious look, and then he yelled.
“This is a great day! Be happy!”
Millions of evil spirits screamed and swarmed in the sky with gleeful whoops.
“Soon, Dayo and Earth shall be ours to feed on, and ransack, and lay to waste!” Leke Bally screamed. “Be happy!”
Again the evil bodies screeched with indescribable excitement.
Rose lifted her head slowly. Temi was hanging on the cross, head-bent and beaten, his face puffed up and so broken.
“Oh, Temi!” she whispered quaveringly, and her tears flooded her cheeks silently.
Leke Bally drifted forward, took Temi’s chin, lifted it, and spoke viciously.
“Now, I’m going to let you bleed like a pig, Dayan!” he hissed with his face and voice filled with hatred. “Your blood will spill on the ground, and you will die a slowly painful death like your father and grandmother!”
Leke Olugbade Bally lifted his hand then, and it had turned into a sharp, double-edged knife-like limb! He stuck it into Temi’s stomach viciously and ripped sideways!
Temi screamed with unbearable pain over and over as Leke Bally stabbed and ripped, stabbed and ripped until he had created holes in Temi’s body at several places!
