(pushes his lover to the bed and rushes to the deep freezer and opens it) Mike are you okay? Sorry for keeping you inside there for long, actually the person behind the door was my fiancèe.

Unknown Person

(covering herself with the bedspread on the bed) Quincy who is that and what is he doing inside your deep freezer? You have got a lot of explanations to give me this morning.

Quincy

Hmmmm, Maabena that is the phone’s owner and not any lady as you were suspecting me, meet my best friend Michael Ansah a.k.a “Kwaku Mike the smooth boy” and bro over there on the bed is Maabena Boaduwaa. Baby, he is my friend that I spoke to you about and he will be staying here with me for some time so if you see him around, he is not a stranger.

Michael Ansah

(shaking due to the coldness of the freezer) Hello Maabena

Maabena Boaduwaa

(recognises Kwaku Mike) Hey you again? What are you doing in my fiancèe deep freezer? Are you aware you could have died if you stayed in there for another five minutes? Baby, you are naked so please find something to wear.

Quincy

Don’t worry my dear, Kwaku Mike is like a brother to me and we use to share the same room back at the university, bro please come out from the deep freezer and baby please kindly get him very hot coffee so that it melts his frozen blood and body.

Maabena Boaduwaa

Baby, you still have not told me what your friend was doing in your deep freezer. Your friend works at my hospital and I met him early this morning and was supposed to see him when I hand over to the morning shift nurses. I don’t know him that much but I wanted him to help me choose what I should buy for you on such a special day like this.

Quincy

Kwaku Mike, are you okay? You haven’t spoken a word since you came out of the freezer, should I rush you to the hospital for proper examination?

Maabena Boaduwaa

That won’t be necessary my Prince charming, after the coffee, I will give him some medications I have in my bag and he will be fine.

Quincy

So now baby are you going to apologise to me for accusing me wrongly?

Maabena Boaduwaa

Am sorry my Prince charming for accusing you wrongly. I will prepare something sweet for you before I leave for my house.

Quincy

So what about the other thing that you failed to give me simply because you thought I was harbouring another woman here.

Maabena Boaduwaa

(been sarcastic) What thing are you talking about my handsome Prince? Can you please talk in plain language?

Oh, baby so you mean you are not getting what am driving at huh? You, I have heard you wai, since you have chosen to punish me for something I know nothing about I will take it cool but when I get you, you will see the new age in me. Mike, how are you feeling now? Maabena Boaduwaa

You want him to say something to you erh? If I didn’t push you away by now your friend there would have been a corpse in your deep freezer, please go and get something to wear because you are scaring me, don’t you know that am still a virgin? Hahahahaha

Quincy

To an extent you are right but the punishment you have subjected me to must be compensated later.

Maabena Boaduwaa

(conveys the hot coffee to the dinning table where Kwaku Mike was sitting) Here is your hot coffee Mr Ansah, so can someone please tell me what you were doing inside the deep freezer?

Quincy

Mike, would you like me to tell my woman why you were in the deep freezer?

Michael Ansah

(nodding his head to approve of what his friend asked him after sipping his coffee) Feel free, go ahead.

Quincy

Okay, if you say so Mike but Maabena before I open up to you I want to let you know that there is great danger ahead for anyone who hears the story am about to tell you. Before I open up to you I want you to promise me, Kwaku Mike and yourself that what you are about to hear must pass through your ears and stay in your head and never come out through your mouth because when you do, death is going to be your reward.

Guys I want to bring to your notice that, today our boss has promoted me to the status of Squadron Leader just like Scorpion here so henceforth the respect you accord to him must be accorded to me. With the power vested in me by the boss, I appoint Stubborn, Physical and Trouble to be my senior aides that I will be working with. If there is any information you want to channel to me and am not around, you can communicate it to them and it will get to me, as you already know we have a mission ahead of us to accomplish, wherever that fool who spied on us is, he must be smoked out. The boss has promised something big to anyone who helps in gunning or clumping him down. As at now I want us to go low key and put our ears to the ground for any information, also bear in mind that the police are on our radar and they are doing everything to apprehend all of us. Those of you who love to club and spend money foolishly in public should desist from that behaviour and those of you that can’t keep your banana in your shorts please learn to be disciplined for some time because women are our greatest enemies in this business. If you don’t stop smoking, it will lead you to your early grave and let me warn you never, ever in your foolish greedy life light a cigarette or anything smoke wise in my face again or else you won’t like the reaction to that action. If you have been promoted or elevated as you say, I remain your superior and that is how it will remain in this group, do well not to step on my shadow.

Back at the Hospital:

Brigaider Adu-Tettey

Doctor I’m giving you 72hours to get me that youngman or else I will personally shut this hospital down and no one can do anything about it and I mean no one. Remember I told you that youngman is a son of a diplomatic so if you try to involve any outsider in this issue you are rather making your case worse.

Doctor

(sweating) Brigadier 72hours is not much for me because I have to be taking care of the patients here in the hospital. Matron, have you seen what your negligence has caused us? Your incompetence is going to pull the reputation of this hospital down, now get me the list of all the hospital staff who were on the night shift yesterday and I want it in my office ASAP

Mrs Adu-Tettey

Doc please take my number and call me if anything happens or if you need any assistance from me. My number is 0202029435 call me if there is any problem.

Brigadier Adu-Tettey

Abi let us go home, I will make the boys stay around for any assistance they need.

Matron

Mmmm, sir please who will pay for the youngman’s medical bills?

Brigadier Adu-Tettey

Excuse me, madam, did you say anything to me?

Matron

Yes please, I was asking who was going to foot the medical bills of the youngman.

Mrs Adu-Tettey

Ah madam don’t you have any shame? Are you still asking for money after you endangered the youngman’s life. Are you that heartless or….. ……

Brigadier Adu-Tettey

(cuts the wife short) Sweetheart please save your breath for me to handle this matter, you still have the mouth to…….

Doctor

(interrupts Brigadier Adu-Tettey from talking) Please sir kindly let me handle this problem, matron please don’t compound the problem this hospital is already facing. Your question can land us in deep mess, please sir until the youngman is found there is no financial transaction going to take place between us, I will recruit the services of a private detective to help us find the youngman but please kindly give us more time so that we can search for your son for you.

Brigadier Adu-Tettey

I will think about it and get back to you later, I will be back in 72hours to hear what you have for me and make sure I get positive results if not what happened to the male nurse at the private ward will happen to you and yours might probably be greater than his. It’s free advice to you doctor, have a nice day.

The brigadier and his wife walk out from the hospital filled with anger against what had happened inside the hospital.

Brigadier Adu-TetteyThese fools have impeded me from getting a quick promotion at the presidency. The youngman would have been helpful in this murder case for us to clump down those notorious drug peddlers.

Mrs Adu-Tettey

Honey, everything happens for a reason, those guys are very dangerous so if this youngman can’t be found let sleeping dogs lie, I don’t want anything to happen to you or any member of my family. Please if the young man is strong and has been able to escape let him go with his problems.

Brigadier Adu-Tettey

Captain Awude

Mrs Adu-Tettey

If you are not married and without children then I will plead with you to stay out of this matter, I won’t trade my family and marriage life with anything that can bring doom to me. (cuts in) Captain say no more, this chapter is closed for now. Drive us back to my bungalow and go to the office afterwards  I will join you later.

Okay sir, your order always stands. You are my boss and commander so whatever you say I will follow it without complaining.

Quincy’s House:

Hmmmm baby, my friend here is in a big mess, his life is in great danger and now that he is with us, we are equally in the same mess. He was a witness to a murder case and now those murderers are after his life, they even shot him whiles chasing him but fortunately for him, the bullet hit him in the thigh. He escaped to the hospital for treatment and again the bad people followed him there but God been so good he narrowly escaped from them again.

Maabena Boaduwaa

Ah so are the bad people not aware that you are a nurse and for nurses, we take the oath of allegiance not to communicate anything we see with our eyes to anyone?

Michael Ansah

I am not a nurse Maabena, the scrubs you saw me wearing was not mine, I took it from a male nurse who was appointed to monitor my health condition after the surgery I did in my thigh and hand.

Maabena Boaduwaa

So how did you get to know my name?

Michael Ansah

Your name is boldly written on the name tag on your chest if I wasn’t fast this morning like the murderers will gun me down right at the hospital. Am just thankful to God for my life and been alive till now is a very big miracle to me.

Maabena Boaduwaa

So you mean those murderers came around the hospital and you didn’t raise an alarm for them to be apprehended?

Michael Ansah

Apprehend? By who my dear? Escaping from the hospital quietly was the best thing I could ever do because if I tried to make any little sound, no one at the hospital will be alive by now to tell his or her story. Those murderers are from a very powerful cartel and will go any mile to keep their identity discreet.

Maabena Boaduwaa

This is serious oooo but I didn’t see any bad looking people at the hospital this morning even though I was seated at the reception all through this morning before handing over to the morning shift nurse.

Michael Ansah

Well I believe you saw some men wearing a suit this morning at the hospital?

Maabena Boaduwaa

Mmmm the people I saw and spoke with were police detectives and they wanted information from me about a patient who was brought to the hospital with gun shot wound in the early hours of this morning.

Michael Ansah

Those people were not real police officers, they were imposters posing as police detectives.

Maabena Boaduwaa

(holding her mouth) Ah so you were the one they were looking for? Hey, you are very lucky then because I saw some of them with guns fixed in their trousers. Mike, then you must try and stay out of sight for a very long time or possibly relocate to a faraway place from here because when they get you they won’t spare your life.

Michael Ansah

Luckily for me my dear, none of those murderers know me by face so if none of you, who I have opened up to betray me and stab me in the back, those murderers won’t ever find me.

Quincy

(switches the tv on) Ah isn’t it the guy who was murdered news that is been telecast?

Michael Ansah

Oh yes that is the news and look at the picture of the murdered guy been displayed. The police are now stating that anyone who has information leading to the guy’s death should come to the police headquarters with his or her information for a handsome reward.

Maabena Boaduwaa

Oh such a handsome young man, these people have wasted a young soul like that. Imagine giving birth with such a handsome face and how the children are going to look like.

Quincy (clears his throat) Women and nice things, you have just started fantasising about giving birth with himuguy. Hmmmm women, you are all the same but you don’t want to be told the truth. Wait a minute guys, I know this guy back at senior high school, so all the rich and luxurious life he was living by then came from drug money? He made us believe that his parents were very rich and because of that he rented an apartment in town and always drove a car to school even at that tender age. He took away my first girlfriend in the school with his money and swag. The way he lined up the girls in our school that time erh, I even heard he banged some national service personnels who came to serve the country in our school accounts department. Now you see your life has ended at a very young age, indeed there is no shortcut to heaven and he thought he was fast like a horse but now the slow tortoise will crawl and get to finish line(old age) without him. All the same may his soul rest in peace.

Michael Ansah

So Maabena, can you keep this thing as top-class secret because the moment you tell another soul about this then you should know that the entire world will hear of it because your friend or best friend also has his or her best friend that he or she shares secrets with. I beg of you to seal your lips and make what you have heard from us stay in your head and this very room, anyone who hears this story is as good as dead.

Maabena Boaduwaa

You guys can count on me, baby won’t you say something to your friend to defend me on how secretive I am.

Quincy

Bro there is no cause for fear and panic, my baby can be trusted when issues like this come to mind. Be rest assured that you are in safe hands.
