THE LEGEND OF DAYO
SEASON 2: THE ATROCITY
CHAPTER 1
The Royal DayoSword
Temi was very afraid.
He felt empty, like air. He was aware of his surroundings, and yet he didn’t have a body.
Temi could see, and yet he didn’t have eyes to see through!
It was a very scary moment for him, and he panicked, struggling hard to find some sort of reason for what was happening, to understand this horrible feeling of being out of his body.
“I’m carrying your mind along, Prince Temi!” Jhon Moziz said sharply. “We have only one hour! If you’re not back in your body within an hour you’ll die, so stop struggling and concentrate on what we’re doing!”
“I don’t want to do it!” Temi screamed. “You’re scaring me! Let me go, you vile demon!”

Keep still, Prince Temidayo, and observe!”
Temi’s mind raced with panic, but there was nothing he could do as he was borne swiftly through the night air.
He didn’t know how long they travelled, but suddenly he felt a lightening of the darkness, and just as he was about to ask what was going on, the spirit of Jhon Moziz spoke.
“Behold, your kingdom, My Lord Temidayo of Dayo!”
Temi looked downward, and then he gasped.
He had never seen a more beautiful sight!
He was looking down at a glorious town, one he had not seen before. It consisted of beautiful cottages, green expansive lands, hills, valleys and stunning water bodies!
There were huge farms of many crops, incredible shrubbery, beautiful landscaping! The people looked happy and glorious, and then he saw the most beautiful sight of them all: a majestic castle!
It covered a large expanse, and it was completely surrounded by a great body of water, and very high walls. Inside this castle were swimming pools, health arenas, exotic gardens, and breath-taking landscaping.
“Oh, wow!” Temi whispered with awe.
“That is the Royal Palace of Dayo,” said Jhon Moziz. “I’ve brought you back in time to show you pieces of our history before the one hour is over. Let me show you a bad night in the history of Dayo!”
Suddenly the beautiful scene changed, and was replaced by a scene of carnage!
Temi saw that they had left the beautiful township of Dayo, and seemed to be floating over a burning village!
He saw men, women and children screaming horribly as they burnt in a raging fire! He also saw that there seemed to be an army of men in black armour surrounding the village, watching with unfeeling faces as the people burnt.
Temi was horrified to see that some of the warriors on horseback were throwing people who had escaped from the fire back into the raging fire!
Some of the warriors on horseback were dipping their arrows into burning fire, and once the arrows were lit with fire, they shot the arrows into the burning village!
One of the warriors, a large man, was sitting on a powerful black horse and watching with glee on his face. He had removed his helmet, and Temi saw that his face was broad and wicked. He had a scar running savagely down the right side of his face. The man had no beard or moustache, and he was completely bald.
Temi of Dayo was sickened by the cruel spectacle he was witnessing, the sheer massacre was unbearable to watch, and he felt like crying.
“Oh, what horror is this?” Temi cried with acute pain. “Why are the soldiers burning these innocent villagers? What is going on?”
“That man you see, the one with the scar on his face, was the King of Dayo twenty years ago!” Jhon Moziz replied.
“My father?” Temi asked with horror.
“No, my Lord,” Jhon Moziz said. “This man was the older brother of your father. His name was Peter Igwe Pedro. His younger brother was Demidayo, who was your father.”
“So why is he burning people?” Temi asked with horror. “Didn’t you tell me the people of the Dayo Empire are supposed to be good people and custodians over the rest of the world?”
“That is so, my Lord,” said Jhon Moziz sadly. “We kept the balance of the World, and helped keep law, order and peace. We intervened only when it was necessary to save the world from being destroyed.”
“So why is the king of Dayo, this Peter Igwe Pedro, burning villages and innocent people?” Temi asked with a breaking heart.
“That is why you have a destiny to fulfil, my Lord,” Jhon Moziz said. “When he became the king, Peter Igwe Pedro became greedy. He didn’t want to be only the king of the Dayo Empire. He wanted to conquer the whole world, and be King over the Earth. And so he entered into a pact with dark forces. He was required to burn down hundred towns, feed the souls of the innocent people to Leke Olugbade Bally, that evil monster. And then Leke Bally would have made him powerful enough to defeat all the armies of the world, and make him a king over the earth!”
“My gracious!” Temi whispered with horror. “And did he succeed?”
“No, my Lord,” Jhon Moziz said. “The people of Dayo were custodians of the Earth, and genocide was a great sin! When Peter Pedro – notoriously known as Igwe PP – burnt down about sixty towns and villages, the Creator rejected him! His younger brother, Demidayo, was chosen as the next king. To prove he had been chosen, they had to fight for the DayoSword! Whoever wields the Royal DayoSword becomes the King of Dayo! Come, let me show you this! We must hurry, time is limited!”
There was a rush of darkness, and Temi became very dizzy, and then suddenly the scene changed!
Temi found himself looking down into a gigantic, domed arena!
The arena was oval, with long stone seats for the spectators.
Temi saw that one corner of the arena was covered with beautiful awnings, and had a beautiful high-backed chair and other smaller chairs, occupied by well-dressed men and women.
Obviously, that portion was for the royal people.
The arena was filled with people.
In the middle of the arena was a grass-covered pitch.
Around the central pitch were metallic cell-like doors.
Warriors in black armours were standing in a circle, holding swords and spears.
And in the middle of the pitch were two men wearing only loincloths.
One was the huge king, Igwe Peter Pedro, and the other was his younger brother, Prince Demi.
Standing between them was a tall man wearing a hooded black cloak, and holding a beautiful sword.
“Are you the man in the middle with the sword?” Temi asked fearfully.
“Yes, that was me,” replied the Grand Oracle Jhon Moziz. “This was the night the kingship was taken from Peter Pedro because of his cruelty and greediness, and handed over to his younger brother Demi.”
“Then why does it look like they’re going to fight?” Temi asked fearfully.
“Because Igwe Peter Pedro didn’t accept the verdict of the Creator,” Jhon Moziz said sadly. “He wanted to hold on to the throne. If he could kill young Demi inside the arena, then he could have the Royal DayoSword and continue with his evil agenda!”
Temi watched as Jhon Moziz tossed the Royal DayoSword.
The beautiful sword spun in the air, and then it came down, but before its blade could touch down, a hand of stone shot up from the ground and grabbed the sword by its tip, so that it held it up.
“Hey, wow!” Temi said with wonder. “What was that?”
“That’s the Hand of the Stone,” Jhon Moziz said. “It holds the Royal DawoSword until the Chosen Heir takes it. Only the one chosen by the Creator as King can pull the sword free from the Hand Of Stone!”
Temi watched with bated breath as Igwe Peter Pedro shouted and walked toward the sword. He took hold of the hilt of the sword and pulled, but the sword didn’t come free.
He pulled with both hands, grunting, but still the sword wouldn’t come free. The crowd screamed and booed after he failed to take the sword from the Hand of the Stone.
He stepped back with a deadly expression on his face.
The Grand Oracle Jhon Moziz turned to Prince Demi.
Pain and despair filled the prince’s face.
“Please, Prince Demi, your turn,” Jhon Moziz said.
Prince Demi shook his head as a look of torture crossed his face.
“Please, no, no!” he moaned, shaking his head. “He’s my brother! Please, let him continue as King. I don’t want to be king!”
“You have no choice in the matter, Prince Demi!” Jhon Moziz shouted angrily. “Go and pull the Royal DayoSword!”
Igwe Peter Pedro smiled cruelly at his younger brother.
“Go on, little brother, your turn!” he hissed.
Still shaking, still sad, young Prince Demi stepped forward and took hold of the hilt of the Royal DayoSword. He pulled, and the stone hand opened, releasing the sword.
Prince Demi groaned and stepped back with horror as thunder crashed and lightning flashed into the sword!
The lightning shook the young prince as he still held the sword!
And then an awful thing happened!
