EPISODE 8
The fierce desire just lying underneath the surface leapt like an unleashed dragon in Yaw Boat’s veins. His arms went around Esi, and he crushed her to his body.
Their kiss was fierce and filled with lust. His hand roved down her sides, and he cupped her ample buttocks, gripping it hard. She groaned and pushed her right thigh between his legs, and her hand dove down, caressing his hard member through his shorts, and he was fiercely and powerfully aroused. His tongue blazed down her throat as one hand came up and curled around her right breast and he caressed her taut nipple through the blouse.
Suddenly he pushed her back, and she tottered, almost falling.
Her bag fell down.
“Yaw!” she moaned deeply with pain, her face torn and shattered. “Please, don’t do this to me, please, I beg of you!”
“Your father is coming here right now,” he said and bent for her bag, and just then the door opened and Joe Eduafo entered, his face filled with a smile.
“Can’t find your bag?” he asked. “I saw it –”
“She found it,” Boat said and straightened, and then he handed the bag to the flustered Esi Eduafo.
She took it and turned away, going out the door with a little groan of despair.
Joe Eduafo shook Boat’s hand suddenly, his face filled with sudden gratitude.
“I almost lost my wife,” he said, and his lips trembled. “Thank you, Yaw. Thank you very much!”
He turned toward the door quickly, and Boat accompanied him outside.
He stood on the top step of the stairs and waved as they drove away, and he continued standing on the stairs long after they were gone.
Boat was watching the trees, and he saw them.
In the gathering darkness, he saw different kinds of eyes deep inside the trees…
Red, green, yellow, rainbow…
Evil eyes glinting with palpable and malevolent evil!
They had sensed his downfall, and almost witnessed him committing fornication! They had felt his field shaking, almost collapsing, and within the blink of an eye they had gathered in the woods…
Boat looked at his hands.
He was glowing.
His force-field was intact, but it had lost some of its amazing sheen!
He was being reminded that he had let his guard down, and that his armour was rusting!
He felt a momentary blast of fury and almost dashed into the trees after them, but he sighed deeply and covered his face with his hands. No, not tonight. This night he was going after a demon-filled imposter called Tim Swallows.
But he knew his days in Apaso were numbered now. He had to leave, at least for a while, because he was aware Esi would find a way back, and they would make love because he was also lusting after her silky body…and afterwards the demons would come for him.
Yaw Boat entered the room and closed the door.
He walked quickly to the kitchen for a glass of water.
When he put on the light in the kitchen, he saw three white crows lined up on the windowsill.
Evidently, Esi had opened the window to let in a little air.
These were huge, white crows, and their eyes blazed with evil red intent!
Yaw Boat began to glow fiercely, and they flapped their wings suddenly with wild cawing, blasting out of the kitchen with frenzied terror!
The one that was in the middle turned it head though, and fixed Boat with a pair of horrible red eyes, giving him a wild sense of déjà vu, of another place, another time, when all this madness had started!
Trembling slightly, Yaw Boat closed the window and drew the blinds.
The gathering!
Evil was gathering again!
They never forgot, and they never forgave…
Yaw Boat trembled again…but it was not with fear.
It was from rage!
This was a warning. The war was back on!
Something really bad was happening out there, something devilish and sinister, and he was being served a warning to prepare.
And he knew he had to be ready.
He didn’t know what it was yet, but he would know soon enough, of that he was sure. And he would be ready for them.
Yeah, he would definitely be ready!

The three huge white crows that had left Yaw Boat’s kitchen circled overhead, and then they dove down into the shadows of the huge pine trees that formed the border of Boat’s house.
Within the dark trees, they settled slowly on the right shoulders of the three men standing silently under the trees and watching Yaw Boat’s house.
They were very strange men.
They were wearing red robes with hoods over their heads.
Nothing could be seen of their faces, but their eyes glowed sickly within the dark folds of their hoods. One of them – who appeared to be the leader – was standing slightly ahead of the other two. His eyes were glowing a sickly red colour with vertical black pupils.
The two behind him had yellow eyes with no pupils.
They were not standing, but appeared to be hovering a few feet off the ground. Although it was not dark yet, the portion of land where the three strange beings were hovering, to the nearest thousand metres radii, was pitch black!
A form of dense mist was rising from the ground, swirling with putrid evil around them. From within the mist came several tortured low moans, as if there were a thousand souls in agony within that evil mist.
On the barks of the trees were indistinct shadowy ghost-like demons with huge serrated fangs and huge foreheads, flitting with malevolent evil from tree to tree, giving off low growls of fury as if they waited to be set free.
The leader of the waiting men reached upward, and his fingers were white, long and crooked with sharp claw-like protrusions at their ends. The white crow on his shoulder which had just recently been in Yaw Boat’s kitchen dropped a disposable razor into the shrouded man’s hand.
“Ah!” the man-thing whispered in a raspy voice. “You did well, servant! A razor, with pieces of his hair and skin still in it! Ah, this is beyond my expectation, servant! Good, we can leave now!”
The two other beings on each side of him glided forward suddenly and turned to face him.
“Master Swallows!” one of them crowed in an old man’s raspy voice. “You know the Unblind will come to you tonight! The woman has talked…and that Unblind doesn’t flee from us!”
“Yessss!” hissed the thing that was Pastor Tim Swallows. “The woman told him, just as she had been programmed to! I have a little surprise for our new Unblind, yesss! And this razor will complete it nicely!”
“But Master Swallows!” said the other thing. “We’ve been instructed to let The Duke know immediately the new Unblind is compromised! We should not engage in battle with this Unblind, please. We should tell the Duke immediately, please!”
The demon that was Tim Swallows hissed and gave a low growl, and a gust of green fire blasted from his mouth, making the other two sway back with sudden fright.
“That Unblind is compromised!” he hissed angrily. “He lusted after the girl, and has already committed fornication with her in his heart! I have been preparing this downfall for him for a long time, and he is in my hands now! Tonight, I will slay and decapitate this fool of a fool you all seem to fear, even The Duke! I do not fear Yaw Boat!”
The other two beings looked anxiously at each other, and the one on the right made one more vain attempt to reason with his master.
“Master Swallows, that Unblind, even when a novice, brought judgement down on our former Lord, The Legion! The Duke has therefore warned all of us not to engage in any direct confrontation with this Unblind, but to send for the Duke immediately the human Unblind is compromised enough to die! Please, I beg of you, let the Duke deal with him!”
Again, Tim Swallows’ eyes glowed with wrath.
“He’s been terrorising all of you!” he said contemptuously, and when he gestured with his hand all the trees swayed to one side frantically. “You’ve all been afraid of this puny fraud, this bastard Yaw Boat! Well, tonight, I’ll cut off his head and show it to The Duke! Yes, I’m going to be a part of the Council of Elders when I slay that piece of filth tonight!”
And with that Tim Swallows shot off into the night, gliding through the trees like the evil force that he was.
“What are we going to do?” asked one of the evil things.
“Go and inform The Duke,” the other said in an evil voice. “I’ll wait with Master Swallows and see how it goes. Go and bring the Duke, now!”
And with that they parted, gliding in opposite directions fast.

It was eight o’clock in the night, and Yaw Boat was sitting at the back of the church listening to the evening service.
And he was getting progressively scared.
He had been inside the Golgotha Heights International Church, Apaso Assembly, for close to an hour now. He had been surprised at the number of people in the congregation. Normally, Sunday evening church services were poorly attended, at least with comparison to the morning services.
It was an exception here, however. The huge auditorium was almost packed to full capacity with people. And he saw that some of the people here were genuine Christians who had force-fields glowing brilliantly, but a majority of them were demon-occupied!
Embedded deeply in them were some of the most fiendish, evil-looking demons Boat had ever laid eyes on. They looked at him darkly with a mixture of fear and defiance!
On the podium where the pulpit was, some of the senior pastors were sitting. About two of them were glowing, but three were not.
And then there was Pastor Tim Swallows!
He was giving the talk that evening, and as he stood behind the podium and delivered a talk on the topic Fornication in our hearts, his eyes seemed to reach out across the heads of the congregation, and he picked out Yaw Boat.
He spoke with a slight sneer, and a little smile played around his lips, as if he was hiding a great joke and was very tickled by it! And inside him, crammed very tightly, was a gigantic demon that looked like an anaconda! It was a dirty greenish colour, with a dirty white underbelly.
It had several stunted limbs poking out from underneath its cover. Its head had six eyes each on both sides, and its tongues flicked out repeatedly, and it was forked at several places.
Its evil red eyes stared at Yaw Boat with baleful intensity.
Yaw Boat was not scared because of the presence of these evil demons in the church, but he was scared because he was glowing, two pastors were glowing, Mr. Joe Eduafo and his wife were glowing…and yet the demons embedded in the people were not fleeing!
Well, maybe the other Christians didn’t have enough power, but he was an Unblind with great divine power! Demons had always fled when he glowed! He had been given dominion over them! Why then, were they still sitting so snugly inside the people? They even seemed to have a certain sort of glow themselves, an imitation yes, but it was there!
Why weren’t they fleeing?
Why were they looking so comfortable?
Lord, what was happening?
Was it because he had come so close to making love to Esi Eduafo?
Boat was confused and getting more scared by the minute.
Had he been stripped of the powers that went with being an Unblind? If so, how could he face Tim Swallows? Should he just get up and leave? He had experienced the same kind of horror at Portville, where women with demons in them had also glowed radiantly and had almost caused him to lose his confidence!
What was going on? Why were they so unaffected by the glows of the force-fields?
What was happening?
And all along Pastor Tim Swallows kept glancing at Boat with his demonic eyes, relishing Boat’s confusion!
And then, suddenly, Boat knew!
Ground zero!
Somehow, his force-field was not hurting Tim Swallows and his demonic minnows because they had something against him! It had happened once in his fight against the Legion, and it had led to the deaths of many, and almost led to Boat losing his life!
That time around it had been because he had not been baptised!
But what was it now?
Should he stay, or should he leave? It would be dangerous to stay if he could not do anything to help Mrs. Sisi Eduafo. However, to leave her in the hands of Tim Swallows could mean something evil might befall the woman – even claim her life – because Boat knew just how deadly these evil beings were, especially when they felt threatened.
And he knew Swallows felt threatened. That evil pastor knew that Mrs. Eduafo had come to see Boat, and the demon inside him would be vindictive to the point of murder.
He was however assured of one thing; if he couldn’t hurt Tim Swallows, then the evil pastor couldn’t hurt him too. If he stayed, he might learn something that would redirect him to why he was becoming powerless in the presence of evil, and then he might be able to know how to counter that, and take these evil fiends down.
He decided to stay, and the moment that decision was made, Pastor Tim Swallows stopped preaching and looked up straight at Boat for about ten seconds, a kind of amused and sly smile playing around his lips.
It was as if he had read Boat’s mind, and heard his decision to stay!
Once again, it jolted Yaw Boat, and for a brief moment he felt the beginnings of doubts deep down in the pit of his belly, but he fought it down savagely, and forced himself to stay focused and to feed on his mounting fury.
He was not going to allow Pastor Tim Swallows to intimidate him!
But Yaw Boat knew without any shred of doubt that he was standing on very dangerous grounds and death was breathing down his neck!
