“Danny, please take off your vest,” Ayaka said quietly.
Looking darkly at Temi, Daniel Godwin peeled off his heavy warrior’s vest.
He stood beside Temi, huge and foreboding. His chest barrelled out massively.
Ayaka pointed at Daniel’s right breast.
“See the mark on his chest, Prince Temi?” he asked in a troubled voice. “Just like the Seer said!”
Temi turned, and Daniel also turned, and they faced each other, the long-lost half-brothers. And whilst there was curious interest in Temi’s face, there was only deep hatred in the eyes of Godwin.
And then Temidayo saw it!
On the right breast of Daniel Godwin was a dark birthmark that looked strangely like a soaring eagle!
“He has the mark,” Temi said softly.
“Of course I do have the mark!” Daniel growled suddenly in a fierce voice. “And I’ve trained for ten years, and I’m the best warrior now! No one can beat me! I’m stronger than a hundred men! The Seer has spoken, and everyone in this room knows I’m the Chosen One! And then the Grand Oracle comes along and brings a weak baby like you who doesn’t know crap about Dayo and tells us you’re the Chosen One! That is madness!”
Temi took a step back, quite unprepared for the acute hatred and aggressive violence in Daniel’s voice, and on his face.
“Hey, calm down!” Temi said, greatly troubled. “I don’t know what is going on. All I know is that the peace of the world, and that of Dayo, is being threatened by Temitayo and Leke Olugbadey Bally. We all seek the solution to a common problem.”
Daniel Godwin took a step toward Temi, his expression dark, his eyes belligerent.

“Then stay the hell out of our way, little brother!” he hissed angrily. “I’m the chosen leader, the one trained for this! You’re nothing but crap, a piece of soft-jellied baby crap! Jhon Moziz has been trapped in that rock for too long so his brain is toast! You can stay and watch, but you’re no leader! You’re not the true heir to the throne!”
Temi was dismayed at the sight of such hatred on the man’s face, and looking around, he saw the coldness on the faces of all the people around him and knew that they were all in support of Daniel Godwin.
He turned and faced The Keepers.
“Listen, evidently, the Grand Oracle Jhon Moziz could be wrong about me,” he said sadly. “I don’t have the mark on my chest as the Seer said. My mark is on the shoulder, just like my father. But I hate violence, and I don’t think I can kill another human being. I don’t know how to fight. Evidently, it takes years to be a true warrior, and we have just a few months to go. So, if my brother…”
“I’m not your brother!” Daniel Godwin growled furiously beside him.
Temi shook his head sadly.
“Look, I’m not a part of this,” he said sadly, his young heartbroken. “If Daniel Godwin is the Chosen One, use him.”
He turned away and headed for the door, tears blinding his eyes by such unexpected animosity.
He began to run blindly toward the exit, but he stopped with a cry of fear when the doorway was suddenly filled with a burning fire!
It was a great ball of amber fire that burned furiously!
The people in the room uttered cries of alarm, and Temi took frantic steps backward as the fire seemed to come relentlessly toward him!
The fire began to recede gradually, a little at a time, and shape seemed to emerge from it until finally, all the fire appeared to be doused, and what was standing there was the black hooded figure of the Grand Oracle, Jhon Moziz.
There were murmurs of alarm and grunts of dismay in the room as Jhon Moziz floated in the air just in front of Temidayo.
“And where do you think you’re going to?” Jhon Moziz asked grimly.
Temi pointed a finger at the shape of Jhon Moziz.
“You send me back to wherever you brought me from!” Temi said in a passionate voice. “You knew there was another prince more capable than I am, or will ever be! Why didn’t you go ahead with Daniel Godwin?”
“Because he is not the Chosen One, and he can’t wield the Royal DayoSword!” Jhon Moziz said harshly. “What the hell do you people think you’re doing, Ayaka, son of Nsugbe?”
There was a hushed silence in the room until Daniel Godwin turned his furious eyes on the Keeper.
“What is this, Keeper Nsugbe?” Daniel demanded angrily. “You say different things to me, and when you see the Grand Oracle you remain silent? Be the man you should be, and tell him as it is!”
“Aha, tell me as it is, huh?” Jhon Moziz said in a dangerously-soft voice. “By all means let me hear, Ayaka, son of Nsugbe!”
Ayaka licked his lips and looked around the table.
The other Keepers nodded, encouraging him.
He got to his feet slowly and looked at the hovering figure of Jhon Moziz.
“Dear Merciful Grand Oracle!” Ayaka said carefully. “We thank you for bringing us the prince. Indeed, looking at him, we all acknowledge that he is the image of our dear King Demi, and he even has the Star Of the Lion mark on his shoulder, as all our other kings had. But that is as far as his claim goes! He is young, too young! He is not prepared, and he is weak!
We have but a few months to train him to be a total man. Time is limited, Grand Oracle! We have a plan, you know, on how to get close to the Royal DayoSword, but to get him to Dayo to implement this plan…you must admit it is damn impossible! We simply do not have enough time! We need to go with Daniel Godwin, who has all the things the Seer spoke about!”
“You go with Godwin, you silly men, and women, and you will fail because the Creator has not chosen him to be the next King of Dayo!” Jhon Moziz roared, and fire erupted from the hood, causing the people to moan with fear. “David Temidayo Dayo is the Chosen One! Train him, and get him ready!”
“He cannot be the One!” Daniel Godwin screamed as he walked angrily toward Temi. “This fool of a boy cannot be the one to lead Dayo! He is just a girl trapped in the body of a boy! Is this fleshy boy your leader?”
And then, without warning, Daniel Godwin swung his fist angrily at Temi.
It was a horrible blow that smashed into young Temi’s jaw, breaking it instantly because the blow had all the power of the giant Daniel Godwin behind it! The blow lifted Temi off his feet, flung him across the room, and smashed him into a wall!
Temi crumpled on the floor in a heap with his face almost completely covered with blood!
“There is your Chosen One!” Daniel roared angrily at Jhon Moziz. “Just a piece of filthy rags! See how easily he crumbled! Does that look like a warrior to you capable of delivering the great Dayo Empire and ruling as King? I am the One! The only One!”
