CHAPTER 26
Okakuo Agbons was running desperately down Dayo Square!
To a man, all the warriors were on their right knees in total obeisance to the new king because the web of deceit woven by Leke Olugbade Bally to cover their eyes had been ripped apart by Prince Temidayo laying his hand on the Royal DayoSword.
When Okakuo finally burst through into the central Dayo Square, he saw the prince cradling the inert figure of a man, and when he moved closer, he saw that it was the body of Jhon Moziz, the Grand Oracle!
Temi had indeed gotten him out of the Rock of Redemption!
Okakuo’s eyes widened with disbelief when he saw the mutilated body of Emmanuel Stephen Skandy on the ground, and then his eyes filled up with tears.
Redemption, he knew, was near!

He had now become a personal brother of this prince, and soon the love of his life would be free, and he would also have the opportunity to avenge the murder of his mother!
He looked down then at the prince and saw him shaking the lifeless body of Jhon Moziz and slapping his right cheek gently. Temidayo was weeping, his tears falling down on the pale face of the Grand Oracle.
“I’m here, Spirit!” Temidayo wept. “I saved you, you’re free from the rock. Wake up now, Grand Oracle, please wake up now!”
The pain passed through Okakuo’s heart to see this sight, and slowly he knelt beside them, lifted the left hand of the Grand Oracle and felt for a pulse. The old man’s skin was icy cold, and there was absolutely no pulse!
Tears came to Okakuo’s eyes as he looked at his prince, and shook his head gently.
“He’s gone, my Lord,” he whispered gravelly. “I’m sorry, but he’s gone!”
Temi lifted a tear-drenched face and looked painfully at Okakuo.
“What?” he whispered with a broken heart.
“I’m sorry, my Lord,” Okakuo replied. “The Grand Oracle is gone. He’s dead.”
Temidayo’s right hand came round in a vicious backhand that slammed against Okakuo’s right cheek, and the slap threw Okakuo into the air to smash hard against the Rock of Redemption, almost rendering him unconscious!

He could feel the blood in his mouth as he fought off the darkness and slowly forced himself to stand up. He saw Temidayo holding both shoulders of Jhon Moziz and shaking him hard, almost fiercely, making the old man’s head bounce so alarmingly on his shoulders that Okakuo was scared the man’s head would just pop right off!
“Wake up, wake up, damn you to Hades, wake up!” Temi groaned as his tears still fell. “Wake up, Oracle! Damn it, wake up!”
Okakuo took faltering steps toward the prince.
“He’s dead, my Lord!” he shouted loudly. “He’s gone! Leave him in peace! Your army waits for you, and your destiny awaits! Please, my Lord, get a grip on yourself!”
With a roar of anguish, Temi got to his feet, picked the Royal DayoSword and almost glided toward Okakuo, who gasped with great fear when he saw the pain and bitterness on the face of the prince, quite convinced that in the depths of his grief the young prince was going to kill him!
He dropped to his knees instantly and bowed his head.
“I’m sorry, my Lord, forgive the impertinence of a servant!” he said quickly.
Temi’s sword was raised above the neck of Okakuo, and for a moment sheer wrath burned on his face, and his hand shook badly, as he wanted to slice off the man’s head.
With a grunt, he dropped his arm and lowered the sword, and then he looked into the dark, starry skies.
“Bring him back to me, Creator of All Things!” he screamed into the skies. “Please, for my sake, bring him back, I beseech You!”
Okakuo looked up with alarm suddenly and, trembling with fear, he reached out desperately and touched the hand of the prince.
“My Lord!” he said desperately. “Don’t speak to the Creator that way! He will strike you dead!”
Temidayo dragged his hand free from Okakuo’s grip and took tottering steps away, his eyes still fixed on the sky.
“That man took care of me, all my life!” the broken-hearted prince screamed in anguish. “He used his last breath to bring me back from the grave! Save him, please, bring him back to me!”
“No one challenges the Creator of All Things, my Lord!” Okakuo screamed with terror as he got to his feet, raced to Temi’s side, dropped to his knees, and held up his hands in supplication. “Please, my Lord, don’t tempt Fate! A new Grand Oracle would be appointed for you! Do not address the Creator of All Things like this, please, I beseech you!”
“Get away from me, warrior!” Temi screamed and fixed his eyes on the skies again. “I don’t want a new Grand Oracle, please! Just give me Jhon Moziz back, and I’ll do anything you want! Otherwise, you better find yourself a new prince! I won’t work without Jhon Moziz!”
“My Lord, you blaspheme, please!” Okakuo screamed. “Blaspheming against the Creator means death!”
“Then let me die, Creator, and spare the life of that man!” Temi screamed and dropped to his knees, raising his hands high to the skies as his tears fell. “That man brought me up from tot even when he was trapped in the stone! He found homes for me, and was never far from me! Please, I cry to you, bring him back! Bring him back, please!”
But the sky remained dark!
Temi still knelt with his hands raised, and then he suddenly drew back his hand and threw the Royal DayoSword toward the Rock of Redemption! As the sword sailed majestically toward the rock, Temi held out his hands, and the Swords of Destiny flew into his hands, and he threw them toward the rock too.
“Find yourself a new Heir Apparent!” he screamed with anguish. “I won’t go without Jhon Moziz! I won’t!”
The swords sailed through the air, and then all three of them turned in mid-air, and as a thunderous thunder ripped across the sky, the swords travelled at Temidayo at great speed! The Royal DayoSword was aimed at his heart, and the Swords of Destiny were coming for his throat.
He made no attempt to defend himself as he remained on the ground with his arms raised and his tears falling down unheeded.

“Yes, kill me, my Creator!” he whispered and shut his eyes. “Let me die! It is better than the guilt I feel for the demise of the Grand Oracle!”
“Noooo!” Okakuo screamed just as the swords were about to strike the prince, but then they stopped inches from their targets.
Thunder crashed furiously in the sky, and lightning flashed in a maddening frenzy that made the warriors cringe with fear.
Temidayo fell down on his face and clasped his hands together.
“Please, I’m yours to command, because I am your servant!” he wept bitterly. “You know my heart because you created me! You’re my father because you took care of me. Surely, a child can ask favours of a father, can’t he? Only you can bring him back, my Creator! Forgive the impertinence of a silly prince, please, and just bring him back!”
He remained on the floor weeping, and fingers still clasped in absolute supplication and meekness.
“What have you done, you stupid prince?” a gravelly voice said furiously above him. “No one dares question the ways of the Creator of All Things!”
Prince Temidayo reared up on his knees and looked through a blanket of tears at the most wonderful sight he had ever seen!
The pale-faced Grand Oracle was standing in front of him, looking at him grimly.
Temi could not speak.
He got to his feet and before he could help himself he swept the bald-headed man into a fierce embrace.
“Jhon Moziz!” he cried gravelly. “You came back! You live!”
And, for the very first time in eighteen years, the Grand Oracle Jhon Moziz wept bitterly as he held the son of his king close!
“Thank you, son, thank you!” he wept bitterly. “You sacrificed your destiny for my miserable life!”
“And you did a hundred times more for me!” Temi whispered. “Great to meet you, my Grand Oracle!”
Okakuo climbed to his feet slowly, wiped tears from his cheeks, and began to applaud with the sheer happiness he was feeling. Temi, indeed, was a different kind of breed, most definitely! This boy, he knew without any uncertainties, would be the greatest king ever!
One by one, and in groups, the warriors got to their feet and began to applaud too.
The Grand Oracle finally stood back, wiped his face, and looked at Temi with incredible fondness on his face.
“At last, I breathe the air of freedom!” he said. “Thank you, my Lord! Now, let’s see if the Creator Of All Things will favour me as your Grand Oracle, my Lord! Please, take your swords!”
And Temidayo did a curious thing…

He dropped to his knees again and raised his hands.
“Thank you, my Creator!” he said loudly. “You deserve all my praise and thanks! You’re awesome!”
He got to his feet then and held out his hand.
He touched the blade of the Royal DayoSword, and immediately the Swords of Destiny sailed behind him and into their scabbards. Temi flexed the DayoSword once as Jhon Moziz stood beside him.
“And now my turn,” the Grand Oracle said.
He held up his right arm and opened his hand.
“May the Creator of All Things pardon my iniquities, and find me worthy to bear the Rod of The Grand Oracles!”
A bright, circular patch of the sky lit up immediately, spraying the Grand Oracle in brilliant light!
And travelling down that ray of bright light was a long, black staff with a curved head! It sailed down majestically and landed gently into the open hand of the Grand Oracle.
His body shook once, and when he opened his eyes there seemed to be fire flames in his eyes.
“Come with me, my Lord,” he said grimly. “To the palace, we go! To destiny, you go!”
