EPISODE 11
Those terrible whitish cloud-like terrifying Death Clouds that bulged and hissed and contained many hideous things suddenly appeared on each side of Yaw Boat! Two of the biggest Death-Clouds that Yaw Boat had seen so far, sizzling malevolently, sending a message of horror to the demons.
Now the shrieks, screeches and screams from Swallows and the demon-possessed crows were unbearable, reaching fever-pitch as they thrashed on the cemetery grounds in terror.
“Get them!” Yaw Boat commanded tiredly, and then he turned away.
The violent, terrible and absolutely malevolent Death Clouds shrieked with vindictive wails and set upon the evil horde, but Yaw Boat did not wait to watch.
He was that sickened.
As he walked away with the anguished death screams of the demons behind him, the sun receded and the darkness closed in again slowly.
He knew he was done with Apaso now, at least for the time being. Staying around here was dangerous for him and for Esi. Tonight, he had almost died, and he knew that more of them were waiting, laying traps for him.
There was something afoot, some bad wind blowing, but he could not make sense out of it. He was assailed by a strong sense of danger, as if there was something urgent he had to do, but he just could not put a finger on it.
He knew though that he would get to know about it eventually.
But first, he had to leave the town without even saying goodbye to Esi and her family.
It was time for Yaw Boat to hit the lonely road again, and draw the evil away from that family. They had suffered enough as it was and staying with them would only bring vindictive evil mores to them.
Just like Nicole…oh, Nicole!
How much he missed her more and more, how much he craved her with each passing day.
Esi would hurt, yes, but for a time. Eventually the right man would come along and make her happy and she would forget all about Yaw Boat and any passion he might have opened up in her soul.
For now, hurting her was far better than being with her and waiting for death to strike at her.
Yaw Boat must be on the road again and wait for the evil that he knew was stalking him.

And in the cemetery, after the Death Clouds had swallowed up all the demons and caused their horrible havoc and disappeared, a creature in a red hoodie glided across the ground toward the lifeless body of Tim Swallows.
The thing had yellow eyes, and it watched the hundreds of dead crows on the ground with solemn fear.
The dead eyes of Pastor Tim Swallows were permanently fixed with terror, and rigor mortis had etched a permanent look of horror on his face.
The yellow eyes of the thing in the red hoodie were filled with sadness.
“I warned you, master, to be wary of that Unblind!” the thing hissed, and then its eyes looked into the gloom where Boat had disappeared into. “You killed the Duke’s son, Unblind! Be prepared for hell!”
***
It was a cold evening in the Canadian coastal town of Cavendish.
There was a lovely beachfront cottage nestled on the farthest tip of the western slip, painted a nondescript broken white. It had a fenced-off front, and a gentle driveway led to the porch and front door.
It belonged to retired Pastor Fad Tremblay, and incidentally that particular day marked his sixty-fifth birthday. His son, Rodney, who was now the resident pastor of the Baptised Church, had come in earlier in the day with other prominent men of God to wish Fad Tremblay another happy birthday.
It had been one of the happiest birthday celebrations for the retired man of God whose wife had died six years previously, a year before his retirement.
Fad Tremblay was lean and still sprightly, and lived on his own, a true depiction of a man who had served God all his life and was now filled with the grace of a loving heavenly Father to enjoy good health after retirement. His sparse hair was quite white now, and so were his eyebrows. His face was heavily lined, but otherwise he was just a jovial, healthy old man.
He was a well-known and respected man in the town, and many people visited him on a daily basis to find peace and rest from their problems.
By six o’clock in the evening the excitement had died down a bit, and old Fad Tremblay locked his doors because he wanted to sleep a little bit early that day. The truth was that he was a little bit tired, and he also felt a great need to pray and find solace.
His soul had been experiencing a bit of unrest lately, and his sleep had been troubled lately too. There was an unpleasant tingling in his veins, the kind of unrest that used to characterize his younger years as an unblind.
He retired to his huge library after locking up. For an unknown reason he kept all the lights on as he sat behind his massive teak desk. The library had two gigantic glass-fronted shelves that held large leather-bound volumes of Christian classics and ancient scrolls.
He read a little from a huge large-print Bible and then he sighed greatly with inner agitation.
“Quite a heavy cross to bear, isn’t it, preacher man?” came a calm voice around him.
Fad Tremblay gasped with a flash of sudden terror and moved back in his chair. The huge Bible fell from his hands and thudded on the polished and tiled floor. He got to his feet and looked around him with wide eyes.
Where had that voice come from?
Was he hearing voices now?
“Actually, you’re not hearing voices, preacher man,” came the calm, deep voice again, and this time it seemed to come from above him, and so Fad looked up suddenly, and saw a pair of eyes looking down at him from the ceiling!
Just that, a pair of ordinary eyes!
“What vile incarnate is this?” Fad Tremblay said with a trembling voice as he fought down the panic threatening to shatter his heart. “I banish you to the deeps of hell, you worker of iniquity, in the name of my Lord Jesus Chris!”
“Oh, shut the heck up, preacher man!” came the calm lazy voice. “You’re no longer an Unblind, little man. Spare me the sentimental crap. You can fool others, but you definitely cannot fool me!”
And immediately the lights went out in the library, and there was absolute darkness in the room except for those pair of calm eyes staring down at him! Fad wanted to scream and he wanted to pray, but no sound came out of his mouth!
He was petrified with fear!
Was this how he was going to die, on his sixty-fifth birthday, and at the hands of evil? After many years as one of the most powerful and successful Unblinds, was this how he was going to end his days?
He was not even glowing!
The darkness pressed in around him, and he could feel the tingly horror of evil entities all around him, pressing close and whispering deadly nuances of evil into his ears. Much against his will he felt his heart thumping with fear as he froze up.
He could feel evil fingers niggling at his nape, and he took stumbling steps backwards until his back came up against the glass front of the bookshelf behind him. Old Fad Tremblay trembled as the eyes on the ceiling suddenly turned into blazing orbs of fire. He could see the pupils within, but then everything else in the eyes was a burning pair of fire!
Suddenly, Fad felt the floor opening up under him and as he glanced down, he saw that he was suspended on a huge gaping hole! The floor of the library had vanished, and below him was a hole that looked like the floor of an ocean, and coming up rapidly was a megalodon, the biggest shark that ever existed!
Its jaws were closed but its huge terrifying teeth were exposed, and there was rage in its eyes! Riding up on each side of the shark were hordes of dead, rotten zombie-like corpses with expressions so horrible that Fad Tremblay made little sounds of horror in the depths of his throat!
Slowly, the megalodon opened its jaws wide, and deep within its throat were the most horrible reptiles Fad Tremblay had always been afraid of: huge, black snakes!
Fad Tremblay moaned with horror as the corpses reached out with horrible, rotten claws that moved into his trousers! He screamed when the megalodon’s jaws crept over his legs, and then he felt the furious snakes striking out repeatedly at him, hissing in their fury!
The jaws of the megalodon closed up, cleanly biting off Fad’s body into two!
He screamed with horror when he felt the remaining half of his body slamming into the sea and the corpses grunted as they clawed across his body, tearing him up, licking up the blood from his severed body, their jaws digging relentlessly into his stomach and tearing up his intestines!
He screamed and felt seawater entering his mouth as he gagged!
And then, suddenly, the lights came back on inside the library, and he found himself sitting on the floor and weeping with terror…and he was sitting in his own urine because his bladder had just let go.
Fad Tremblay looked up dully, still weeping and in terror.
The eyes had dropped from the ceiling and were now hovering over the chair in front of him at the other side of the desk.
Slowly, a ghostly figure appeared in the chair shimmering with incredible brilliance! And then flesh began to appear over the ghostly figure!
A handsome face appeared, a half-caste face of an African and Caucasian man. The neck appeared rapidly, and then shoulders, chest and stomach. In the blink of an eye a huge man wearing a white suit appeared in the chair and regarded Fad Tremblay with calm, wicked eyes!
Fad saw that this man had the mark of the beast on his forehead:
666!
But it was a type he had never seen before!
All the ones he had encountered in his life as an Unblind had been tinged with red blood!
But this one was not red!
It was pure white!
“Who are you?” Fad Tremblay asked in an unsteady voice.
The man looked at him coldly.
“Get up and sit down,” he said calmly.
“You can’t instruct me, you demon!” Fad Tremblay said weakly.
Immediately he felt his throat constricting as a huge, vice-like invisible hand clamped itself around his neck and began to squeeze the air out of his lungs!
He could not breathe!
Fad knew he was dying!
With a herculean effort he stood up from the floor as the invisible hand continued to choke him, and the giant in the chair regarded him calmly!
With trembling fingers, Fad Tremblay threw himself into the chair he had vacated earlier, and immediately the choking stopped!
He began to choke and cough horribly and then tears of anguish seeped slowly under his lids!
This was the evillest of all the evil encounters he had ever had in his life as an Unblind! Who was this man with the different mark of the beast? And what did he want from him?
“Now you’re reasoning,” the strange man said calmly with a cold face. “I’ll answer your questions.”
He can read my thoughts, Fad Tremblay thought with horror!
Dear God, this evil man can read my thoughts!
“Yep, I can read them perfectly!” said the man without batting an eye. “My powers are above yours, preacher man. But, I seem to be getting ahead of myself. My name is Duke Swallows. I’m going to have a sensible conversation with you, and I’m going to make a demand from you.”
“What do you want?” Fad Tremblay whispered with faint horror as it dawned on him that he knew exactly what this Duke Swallows wanted, and there was every likelihood that he was going do die on his sixty-fifth birthday.
“I’ll come to that, preacher man,” Duke Swallows said softly. “But remember this, you didn’t glow because the gift of an Unblind left you three years ago when you began to sleep with that prostitute that dresses up as a nurse and visits you every month. I don’t begrudge you your sinful lustful cravings, preacher man. After all, your wife died six years ago and you do have sexual needs to fulfil.
I just want you to know that I know your sins, and they have rendered you weak in my presence. If you fuck with me, for even one second, I will kill you in the most unpleasant of manners! And you know what will happen to you if you die in your sins. So, please me, and I might just let you live long enough to repent, preacher man!”
